5 Introduction is an add-on feature to the QTD (Quality Training Database). This simple tool helps users to build customized report. This document is divided in two parts, 1. Installing, and 2. Building the Query 1. Installing Installing Customer Report Builder instructions are provided in two parts Download and Install CRB Run the Script Download and Install CRB 1. To Download and Install CRB follow these steps 1.1 Download QTSCRB_v1.1.rar file to the Harddrive. Note: You need to have latest version of WinZip to open.rar file. You can download it from website 1.2 Extract files to the desired location 1.3 Copy table.csv file to C:\ drive of the machine/server where SQL server is installed 1.4 Click on setup.exe, QTS_QueryBuilder Setup Wizard will pop-up. 1.5 Click Next. 2010, Quality Training Systems 1

6 1.6 You will see Select Installation Folder window, the default location is C:\Program Files\Quality Training System\QTS_QueryBuilder\. Location can be changed, if so, please make a note of the new location. Location: 1.7 Click Next 1.8 Click Next on Confirm Installation window 1.9 Installation will begin. Once finished click on Close. Run the Latest Script 2. To run the Script, follow the steps below: 2.1 Click on Start, Open SQL Server Management Studio 2.2 Connect to Server. 2.3 Expand Databases, Right click on your database, click on New Query 2010, Quality Training Systems 2

7 2.4 Click on open file and browse to QTS_QueryBuilder_V1-Feb22-10.sql and execute the query. Close the window Make sure correct database is selected 2. Generating Reports Open QTD and Click on QueryBuilder tab. Note: If you see following error, check for the path. Click on QueryBuilder, Set path, browse to the location you have installed the. Click save and close. You should be able to open the now. As name suggests helps users to build customized reports. Custom Report Builder has four tabs Select Fields for Report Add criteria Results Run Saved Query Building Custom Report 3. Select Fields for Reports 3.1 First step in building a query is to select fields 3.2 Click on Select Fields for Report tab - lists all available fields 3.3 Check the boxes next to the fields. E.g. as shown below 2010, Quality Training Systems 3

Add Criteria 4.1 The next step in building the report is to add criteria to selected fields 4.2 Click on Add Criteria tab 4.3 Click on field from the fields list on left side of the window, select the operator from operator dropdown list and build query 4.4 Click on Add criteria 4.5 More than one criteria can be combined to form a query by choosing AND or OR operator 4.6 To clear and build new query click on Reset Criteria button 5. Results 5.1 Click on Display Results button under Result tab to see the results 5.2 Click on Export to Excel button to export data to excel 5.3 Save Query option lets you save the queries for future purposes 2010, Quality Training Systems 4

9 6. Run Saved Query 6.1 All the saved queries are saved on server. 6.2 Click on Run Saved Query tab 6.3 Select the query from the drop down list and click on Run Query 6.4 Result data can be exported by clicking on Export to Excel button 2010, Quality Training Systems 5
