1 Installing Blank SiriusSQL Database 4.0 (ONLY APPLICABLE IF YOU START WITH SiriusSQL 4005A OR HIGHER!) To install a new blank SiriusSQL database, follow these steps. Copy and Unzip Files 1) Browse to \\Fileserver04\f-drive\V40\Sirius.FS\Data and copy the desired version of the blank database (SiriusSQL_clean_4005*.zip) as well as Insert_SiriusSQL_SystemData_4000c.zip to your server data folder. (The default folder for this is C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Data). 2) Double-click SiriusSQL_clean_4005*.zip to unzip it in your server data folder. 3) Double-click Insert_SiriusSQL_SystemData_4000c.zip to unzip it in your server data folder. Attach Database with Enterprise Manager 1) Start Programs->Microsoft SQL Server->Enterprise Manager. 2) Expand Microsoft SQL Servers, then expand SQL Server Group, then expand (local), then expand Databases. 3) Right-click on Databases and select All Tasks->Attach Database. 4) In the Attach Database window, click on the ellipsis ( ) to browse to your C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Data folder. 5) Select the file SiriusSQL.mdf and click OK.

2 6) Verify that the database to attach is SiriusSQL (see above in Attach as) and click OK. Wait and your database will be attached. Click OK. Create Sirius User 1) In Enterprise Manager, expand the Security folder and highlight Logins. 2) If there is already a Sirius login in the list, skip to step (4) below. 3) If there is no Sirius login in the list, create a new one: a. Right-click in the white area to the right and select New Login. b. Enter sirius in the Name field. c. Select SQL Server Authentication. d. Enter sirius in the Password field. e. Click OK. f. Re-enter the password and click OK. 4) Expand Databases and SiriusSQL and highlight Users. 5) Right-click in the white area to the right and select New Database User. 6) Type in sirius in the Login Name field and click OK. Insert System Data 1) Start Programs->Microsoft SQL Server->Query Analyzer. 2) Enter sa as Login name and password as Password and click OK.

3 3) In the dropdown box at the top of the screen, select SiriusSQL. 4) Go to File->Open and browse to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Data and select Insert_SiriusSQL_SystemData_4000c.SQL and click Open. 5) Scroll down in the now-open SQL script file to the drive where the zip code file is indicated.

4 6) Replace the drive with the drive where your zip code file is located (by default C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Data) see above. 7) Select Query->Execute and the script will execute. Scroll down in the second box to verify that the script completed (it will read Process complete). If it did not complete, you will need to investigate why.

5 Make ODBC Connection to Database 1) Go to Start->Settings->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Data Sources (ODBC). 2) Access the System DSN tab.

6 3) Click Add and scroll down and highlight SQL Server and click Finish. 4) Enter SiriusSQL as the Name and select (local) for the Server and click Next.

7 5) Select With SQL Server authentication using a login ID and password entered by the user. 6) Verify that the Connect to SQL Server to obtain checkbox is checked. 7) Enter sa as your Login ID and password as Password and click Next. 8) Uncheck Use ANSI quoted identifiers and click Next.

8 9) Verify that only the Perform translation for character data checkbox is checked and click Finish. 10) Click Test Data Source to run connectivity tests.

9 11) Verify the test is successful. If it is not, you will need to investigate why. 12) Click OK three times to finish.

10 Run MaxKeys After you have completed this document, and after you have installed the Sirius Software applications, the next thing to be done before using the data is to run SysManager->MaxKeys on the server.
