1 [AKD90-A] AKD90-A AK90 Evaluation board Rev. GENERAL DESCRIPTION The AKD90-A is an evaluation board for the AK90, monaural audio CODEC with a microphone pre-amplifier and an analog direct path. The AKD90-A also has the digital audio interface and can achieve the interface with digital audio systems via opt-connector. Ordering guide AKD90-A --- Evaluation board for AK90VN. 5 [AKD90-A] CONTROL SOFT MANUAL Evaluation Board and Control Soft Settings. Set an evaluation board properly.. Connect Evaluation board to PC with USB cable. USB control is recognized as HID (Human Interface Device) on the PC. When it can not be recognized correctly please reconnect Evaluation board to PC with USB cable.. Proceed evaluation by following the process below. [Support OS] Windows / 0 ( / bit) Operation Screen. Start up the control program following the process above.. After the evaluation board s power is supplied, the AK90 must be reset once. (Pushing [Port Reset] button, and power up AK90 by [PDN : H] button.). The operation screen is shown below figure 0. 6 [AKD90-A] Operation Overview Function, register map and testing tool can be controlled by this control soft. These controls are selected by upper tabs. Buttons which are frequently used such as register initializing button Write Default, are located outside of the switching tab window. [Port Reset] : For when connecting to PC with USB cable Click this button after the control soft starts up when connecting to PC with USB cable. This button can reset AK8A and AK90.. [Write Default] : Register Initializing When the device is reset by a hardware reset, use this button to initialize the registers.. [All Write] : Executing write commands for all registers displayed.. [Save] : Saving current register settings to a file.. [Load] : Executing data write from a saved file.. 10 [AKD90-A]. [REG]: Register Map This tab is for a register writing and reading. Each bit on the register map is a push-button switch. Button Down indicates H or and the bit name is in red (when read only it is in deep red). Button Up indicates L or 0 and the bit name is in blue (when read only it is in gray) Grayout registers are Read Only registers. They can not be controlled. The registers which is not defined in the datasheet are indicated as ---. (-) [Write]: Data Writing Dialog figure. Window of [REG] It is for when changing two or more bits on the same address at the same time. Click [Write] button located on the right of the each corresponded address for a pop-up dialog box. When the checkbox is checked, the data will be H or. When the checkbox is not checked, the data will be L or 0. Click [OK] to write setting values to the registers, or click [Cancel] to cancel this setting. figure. Window of [Register Set] (-) [Read]: Data Read Click [Read] button located on the right of the each corresponded address to execute a register read. After register reading, the display will be updated regarding to the register status. Button Down indicates H or and the bit name is in red (when read only it is in deep red). Register setting files saved by [Save] button can be applied. figure. Window of [All Register Write] [Open (left)] : Selects a register setting file (*.akr). [Write] : Executes register writing by the setting of selected file. [Help] : Opens a help window. [Save] : Saves a register setting file assignment. The file name is *.mar. [Open (right)] : Opens a saved register setting file assignment *. mar. [Close] : Closes the dialog box and finish the process. [Interval time] : The frequency of the writing. ~ Operating Suggestions ~. Those files saved by [Save] button and opened by [Open] button on the right of the dialog *.mar should be stored in the same folder.. Window of [SAVE] [All Address] check box : When the [All Address] checkbox is checked, all register settings will be saved. [Start Address] edit box : When the [All Address] check box is not checked, set starts register address to save. [End Address] edit box : When the [All Address] check box is not checked, set end register address to save. [OK] button : Selects a file to save and saves register settings. [Cancel] button : Cancel and finish this process. [AK8A] check box : When the [AK8A] checkbox is checked, AK8A settings will be saved.. [Sequence]: [Sequence] Dialog Box Click the [Sequence] button in the main window to open register sequence setting dialog box. Register sequence can be set in this dialog box. figure. 13 [AKD90-A] ~ Sequence Setting ~ Set register sequence according to the following process.. Select a command Use [Select] pull-down box to choose commands. Corresponding boxes will be valid. < Select items> No use : Not using this address Register : Register write Reg_Mask : Register write (Masked) Interval : Takes an interval Stop : Pauses the sequence End : Ends the sequence. Input sequence [Address] [Data] [Mask] : Data address : Write data : Mask This value ANDed with the write data becomes the input data. The bits which corresponding Mask bit = 0 are not changed. At this time, data read is not executed, and the storage data of this software is used. Write Default must be executed after power up the AK90 or when the AK90 is reset by the PDN pin since the storage data and register values are different. This is the actual write data. [Interval] When Mask = 0x00, current setting is hold. When Mask = 0xFF, the 8bit data which is set in the [Data] box is written. When Mask = 0x0F, lower bit data which is set in the [Data] box is written. Upper bit is hold to current setting. : Interval time Valid boxes for each process command are shown below. [Start Step] select : Select start step. No. Step : Start from No. step. Checked Step : Start from checked step. [Start] button : Executes the sequence. [Stop] button : Stops the sequence. [Help] button : Opens a help window. [Save] button : Saves sequence settings as a file. The file name is *.aks. [Open] button : Opens a sequence setting file *.aks. [Close] button : Closes the dialog box and finishes the process. ~ Stop of the Sequence ~ When Stop is selected in the sequence, the process is paused at this step and restart step number is checked. It starts again from the checked step by clicking the [Start] button. When the process at the end of sequence is finished, Step No. of [start step] is selected automatically. <KM0> 08/0 - -

Those files saved in the Sequence setting dialog can be applied in this dialog. figure. Window of [ Sequence(File) ] [Open (left)] : Opens a sequence setting file (*.aks). [Start] : Executes the sequence by the setting of selected file. [Start All] : Executing all sequence settings. Selected files are executed in descending order. [Help] : Opens a help window. [Save] : Saves a sequence setting file assignment. The file name is *.mas. [Open(right)] : Opens a saved sequence setting file assignment *. mas. [Close] : Closes the dialog box and finishes the process. ~ Operating Suggestions ~. Those files saved by [Save] button and opened by [Open] button on the right of the dialog *.mas should be stored in the same folder..
