1 ESI[tronic] newsletter 2018/1 Highlights ESI[tronic] 2.0 vehicle coverage SEN Passenger Car: 783 new and updated systems for 41 brands were newly developed The highlights in this update are: 1. Asian Brands with 84 systems e.g. for models from Honda and Toyota 2. Ford with 54 systems for all current models e.g. Ford Fiesta 2017 and Ford Transit 3. Fiat Group with 42 systems for all current models e.g. Alfa Romeo Giulia, Fiat Ducato and Lancia Voyager Truck: 623 new and updated systems for 20 brands were newly developed. 2 ESI[tronic] 2.0 Online-Updates with new DDM Diagnostics Download manager You can now take advantage of the numerous benefits offered by the ESI[tronic] 2.0 Online-updates. Starting now, you can easily and comfortably keep your complete ESI[tronic] 2.0 in step with the latest developments complicated installing from DVDs is no longer necessary. The Online-updates will be available from the Diagnostics Download Manager (DDM). Customers who are already using online interim updates now,can easily activate the new Diagnostics Download Manager and use the new Online-updates. After the DDM has been configured once, everything then runs automatically. It regularly checks whether new updates are available. In this case, the DDM automatically downloads the updates in the background and informs you immediately as soon as they can be installed. It is up to you to decide whether you wish to install the update immediately or at a later point in time. During the downloads you can use ESI[tronic] 2.0 in the usual way. In 2017, you had have the opportunity to test the new Online-updates in detail and convince yourself of the advantages provided by the automatic downloads in the background. In 2018, you will decide whether you would like to continue using the ESI[tronic] 2.0 Online-updates or if you want to keep receiving your updates via DVD in In 2019 all must run via onlline-download. Further information will come directly as Bosch must have your registered in order to communicate with you, and for the administration of your subscription Important: The new DDM will no longer support Windows XP, and the support of ESI[tronic] 2.0 for Windows XP will be terminated at the end of 2017 (Microsoft already stopped supporting Windows XP in 2015). The updates will automatically be downloaded in the background to ensure the daily work in the workshop is not disturbed. The installation can be made when best suitable, ensuring that ESI[tronic] 2.0 always remains up to date.

3 Vehicle Identification Improvements Users who have a preferred vehicle identification method can set it by default (the Vehicle Identification setup can be found in the main menu, under user settings ). The default vehicle identification tab will then always be displayed first after starting ESI[tronic] yet another time saver. Text Search Improvement Searching for information within ESI[tronic] 2.0 has never been easier! The text search is now extended to the information tables. See screenshot: the complete fault code table can for example now be searched in seconds. Protocol Enhancements It is now possible to automatically save all the fault codes in the ESI[tronic] 2.0 protocols, without having to press the Save button every time. As shown in the screenshot, this new setting can be activated from the User Settings menu, into the Protocols tab. It is now also possible to add images to any open ESI[tronic] 2.0 protocol. In order to do so, press the Printer button and select Add Image to choose an image stored on the PC. Note: The Add Image link is only activated once a Protocol is being created, and remains greyed-out and not accessible otherwise.

4 End of Support of Windows versions and KTS products in Support for Windows XP and Vista: The support of ESI[tronic] 2.0 for Windows XP, XP Embedded and Windows Vista will end in Beginning with update 2018/1 ESI[tronic] 2.0 cannot be installed on PC with these Windows versions. Users will however be able to use ESI[tronic] 2.0 throughout 2018 using their 2018/1 software, provided they have a valid ESI[tronic] 2.0 license for We will introduce Windows checks, information and warning messages within the next ESI[tronic] 2.0 updates to ensure end-users are informed and given enough time to prepare themselves. Remark: The official extended support of Microsoft for Windows XP has ended in April 2014, for Windows XP Embedded in January 2016 and Windows Vista ended in April Support for KTS 650 and 670: As these KTS are based on Windows XP Embedded the update 2018/1 will be the last version that can be installed on KTS 650/670. For these customers we recommend the following solutions: KTS 560 in combination with DCU 220 industrial laptop KTS 590 in combination with DCU 220 industrial laptop KTS 350 all-in-one tool based on Windows 10 KTS 460 package of DCU 100 with KTS 560 KTS 995 package with KTS 560, DCU 220 and FSA 500 Support for KTS 520 and KTS 550: The update 2018/1 will be the last version with support for these KTS devices, whick is now more than 10 years old. We will strive to introduce end-user information messages within these products in the next updates to ensure our customer are duly informed can upgrade their materials if/as desired ahead of this date. For these customers we recommend the following solutions: KTS 590 the new KTS module with the newest vehicle interfaces, Bluetooth communication and Oscilloscope KTS 560 the new KTS module with the newest vehicle interfaces, Bluetooth communication and Multimeter FSA 740 / 760 with PCs running under Windows XP Embedded: Support for Windows XP and Windows Vista of CompacSoft[plus] for FSA 740 and FSA 760 will also end in The FSA can be used without limitation but updates of CompacSoft[plus] will not be possible from 2018/1 ongoing. For these customer we recommend the change to a new fast PC with SSD disk and include an additional WLAN stick to integrate the FSA into the workshop network. 5 Driver Assistance System and Intelligent Light System Today s vehicles commonly have driver assistance systems (e.g. for lane change warning, road sign recognition, blind spot monitoring) and intelligent light systems (e.g. LED, Matrix Beam, Bi-Xenon). The system calibration and adjustment is obligatory after every chassis set up or repair task or after windshield or a head light replacement. This works with the aid of ESI[tronic] 2.0 and the KTS, as well as with specific tools such as DAS 800/1000 and SCT 415 or calibration drive. Calibration drive require a mobile diagnostic system (for example KTS 350). Currently ESI[tronic] has the following vehicle coverage to support you with these tasks: specific vehicle model assignment for radar based assistance systems specific vehicle model assignment for camera based assistance systems specific vehicle model assignment for intelligent light systems Phase Out of ZF information in the ESI[tronic] 2.0 information type A The contract between ZF Friedrichshafen AG and Robert Bosch GmbH regarding the software component ZF-Information was not extended. For this reason, Bosch will remove the ZF information (ZF-A and ZF-M) from the ESI[tronic] 2.0 Infoart A with the ESI[tronic] 2.0 version 2018/1. 6 ESI[tronic] News 2018/1 Installation instructions: Important rules that apply to the ESI/SD update process: ALWAYS make a new reboot of the PC before updating. Sometimes Windows keeps some dll-files open which will prevent the update process from writing all files to the hard drive and end up with a faulty installation that needs to be deleted. If a faulty installation has occurred, you MUST delete ESI from the setup program and perform a new installation. Make sure no ANTIVIRUS is running. In some cases, the antivirus will prevent overwriting of certain system files, which are needed for the update. Do NOT connect the USB cable to KTS 540/560/570/590 modules before or during an update. Firmware update is not performed during the update. KTS firmware is updated first time you start SD after an update. Connecting the USB during an update may result in a faulty DDC configuration. Install/update ESI before any other programs such as CompacSoft[plus] ESI[tronic] is the master and needs to be updated before any other program.
