Notes on Installation The installation notes contain important information that you will require in order to install S7 Graph V 5.0 incl. SP1. Read these notes before installing the software. 0 Service Pack 1 for S7 Graph V Corrections Contained Service Pack 1 for S7 Graph V5.0 contains the following corrections compared to S7 Graph V5.0: Conditional block calls (CALL C) can also be used in sources for the setting "Save operands in sources symbolically". Setting "Save operands in sources symbolically" remains. In sources, absolutely addressed structured operands, such as DB1.DBX20.0 or Step1.X, can be used in arithmetic actions. User-defined parameters are no longer overwritten when using the standard FC (FC72). Warning: In order to correct this problem, you need to delete the standard FC (FC72) and all instance DBs concerned; afterwards, open the Graph blocks and resave them. The message numbers changed while copying a program will be recognized by S7 Graph when opened and will be used starting with the next save. Printing: print "current view" can be selected several times. It is corrected that in several cases operands in conditions were not printed completely. Control sequential blocks: the sequential block mode is no longer changed unintendedly. The zoom percentage can be changed manually from the overview window. Problems which occurred while editing conditions are corrected. The problem which occurred while monitoring sequential blocks using an instance DB larger than 64 kb is corrected. The total width of arithmetic actions is no longer restricted to 80 characters. The restriction still applies to each individual operand. Process synchronization can now be executed without a mouse. For this purpose, change between the dialog box and the graphical display using <Alt>+<F6> Sequential blocks whose actions contain assignments or arithmetic, and who need a standard FC in order to be executed, could only be executed using FC72. Now you can choose between all three standard FCs (FC70, FC71, and FC72). 0.2 Installation Notes Prerequisite for the installation of S7-GRAPH V5.0 incl. Service Pack 1 is an installation of STEP 7 V K (or higher) To start the installation procedure, double-click on the program SETUP and follow the instructions there. After the installation, the S7 GRAPH info-box must display Version Service Pack 1 1 Contents of the Consignment You received one of the following products with this consignment: S7 Graph V5.0 incl. You require: For Windows 95/98: a programming device or PC with an (or higher) processor and at least 32 Mbytes of RAM. We recommend 64 Mbytes of RAM. For Windows NT: a Pentium processor and at least 32 Mbytes of RAM. Should you want to install or operate an operator station (WinCC), we recommend 64 Mbytes of RAM.. 3 Software Requirements 3.1 Operating Environment S7 Graph V5.0 is a 32-bit application which requires Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT as its operating system. It cannot run under Microsoft Windows 3.1

or Microsoft Windows for Workgroups The same basic conditions for the operation of STEP 7 are valid here as well. 3.2 Memory Requirements S7 Graph V5.0 occupies approximately 40 MB of memory on your hard disk. The memory requirements for STEP 7 are to be followed here as well (see the STEP 7 Readme file ). 3.3 Compatibility with STEP 7 S7 Graph V5.0 requires at least STEP 7 V5.0 +ServicePack 1 or STEP 7 V4.02, version K Online Documentation As with STEP 7 V5.01, the online help for S7 Graph V5.0 is split into two sections. Because of the way that STEP 7 V4.02 runs, you can find notes on the current context as well as the general contents of the online help in the same way as with the standard Windows help. 4 Installation 4.1 Installing the S7 Graph V5.0 When installing S7 Graph V5.0 you can overwrite existing installations of S7 Graph. Older versions don't need to be uninstalled. Before starting the Setup program, close all applications (such as Microsoft Word, etc.) and the "Control Panel" window. Insert the S7-GRAPH-CD in the drive. In order to start installing S7 Graph, double-click the SETUP program on the S7 Graph CD from the Windows Explorer. The Setup program will guide you through the installation. After that, the components you have selected will be installed, including entries in the MS Windows files. Note STEP 7 registers itself in Microsoft Windows 95/98/NT system files. You cannot move or rename STEP 7 files or folders using Microsoft Windows utilities such as the Explorer or modify STEP 7 data in the Microsoft Windows registry. The program may no longer run properly after such modifications. 4.2 Authorizing S7 Graph V5.0 Before you can start working with S7 Graph, you must transfer the authorization from the authorization diskette to the computer. There are two ways of doing this: While you are installing STEP 7, the Setup program displays a message if there is no suitable authorization installed on your computer. You can then decide whether you want the authorization to be installed by the Setup program or whether you want

to install the authorization manually at a later time using the AuthorsW program. If the authorization cannot be installed during setup, continue the Setup program without installing the authorization. Install the authorization using the taskbar under "Start > Simatic > AuthorsW > AuthorsW." If this menu entry is not available, install the program AuthorsW from the CD S7 Graph (by double clicking on the program "Setup" in the folder "Authors". Then boot the computer and install the authorization using the taskbar under "Start > Simatic > AuthorsW > AuthorsW." Note For S7 Graph V5.0 the authorization must be installed on target drive C:. If C: is a compressed drive (for example, DBLSPACE/DRVSPACE), select the respective host drive. Read the notes on AuthorsW in the README.TXT file on the authorization disk. Hidden files are stored in the folder "C:\AX NF ZZ". These files and the folder must not be deleted, moved, or copied. They contain data required for the authorization of your software! If you do not adhere to these guidelines, the authorization may be irretrievably lost To ensure that your authorization is installed without errors, adhere to the following notes: The authorization diskette must not be read-only. Because the authorization diskette is to be used without write protection, there is a danger that a virus could be transferred from the hard disk to the diskette. You should therefore run a virus check on your PC or programming device every time you install or remove an authorization. If you use an optimizing program which enables you to move fixed blocks of memory, only use this option once you have moved the authorization from the hard disk back to the authorization diskette. When you install an authorization, a cluster appears on the target drive which is marked as "defective." Do not attempt to restore the defective cluster. Do not forget to transfer the authorization to the authorization diskette before formatting, compressing, or restoring your hard disk or before installing a new operating system. If a backup copy of your hard disk contains copies of authorizations, there is a danger that these copies may overwrite the valid installed authorizations when you restore your backup data to the hard disk, thereby destroying the valid authorizations. To prevent a valid authorization from being overwritten by a backup copy, you must remove all authorizations before you make a backup copy or exclude the authorizations from the backup. Using the emergency authorization: If the normal authorization is lost, you have the possibility of installing an emergency authorization, found on the authorization diskette, on your hard disk. This allows you to run the corresponding software package for an additional fourteen days. You can use this period of time to obtain or repair the full authorization. An ID must be entered when installing STEP 7 (see Software Product Certificate or authorization diskette). 4.3 Uninstalling S7 Graph V5.0

Note Software products must be removed according to Microsoft Windows 95/98/NT conventions, otherwise they cannot be uninstalled. Use the Microsoft Windows 95/98/NT application "Add/Remove Programs" (in the taskbar under Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs) to remove your software package (for example, ""SIMATIC S7 Graph V5.0""). This is the only way to uninstall software when running Windows 95/98/NT. Notes on Usage These notes should be considered more up-to-date than the information in manuals and online helps. 1 New Features and Amendments in the New Version For more information, refer to the corresponding section "What's New?" in the online help. You can call this topic from the contents page of the Help on S7 Graph (menu command Help > Contents). The same information is also available in the manual "S7 Graph for S7-300/400". This manual is provided as an electronic document and can be displayed and printed with the Acrobat Reader V3.01, supplied (Start > Simatic > S7 Manuals > S7 Graph for S7-300/400). Additional information not described in the online help is listed below: 2 Notes on Configuring and Operating the Software 2.1 How S7 Graph Fulfils the IEC Standard The exact definition of compliance with the standard can be found in the NORM_TLB.WRI file in the subdirectory which you selected during setup (default setting: C:\SIEMENS\STEP7 ). This document is also stored in WordPad format. 2.2 Special Notes on the STEP 7 Mini Package, V5.0 The STEP 7 Mini package, V5.0 does not allow the use of S7 Graph. 2.3 General Notes The Notes on Configuring and Operating the STEP 7 Software are valid here as well (see README File STEP 7). Please note the following: German umlauts and other special characters may not be used in file names, folder names, or project names. You should not use diskettes as the work medium for project data. (storage space limitations and slow access time). The contents of the windows are not automatically updated (for example, the window contents in the SIMATIC Manager are not always up-to-date after an interruption of the MPI connection). If in doubt, use the F5 key to refresh the contents of the active window. Screen savers: When using a screen saver, you should note that processing costs CPU time and this can lead to the system being overloaded. Some screen savers are known to prevent the release of main memory components. This leads to a continuous

reduction in the usable main memory. Virus scanners: If you implement a virus scanner while the program is running, you can cause hardware extension errors. When operating WinCC, this can lead to a blockage of the connection of modules for process connection. This means that a dynamic virus protection by means of Gatekeeper mechanisms is not possible. It is recommended that you execute virus tests offline and then activate a process connection after resetting the hardware. You should also never copy untested data to a station. User data should not be stored in STEP 7 project directories (for example, Microsoft Word documents), since when you delete a STEP 7 project from the SIMATIC Manager, these user data are also permanently deleted. You cannot use the "Undo" function to retrieve deleted data from the Windows Recycle Bin. 2.4 Swapping Different Versions of S7 Graph The projects set up and edited as V3 projects with S7 Graph V3.0/4.0 can still be used unchanged with S7 Graph V5.0 as current projects. The project data from S7 Graph V2.0 can be used in a V2-project in S7 Graph V5.0 without modifications being necessary. Different SW-Versions of S7 Graph cannot be operated at the same time on a programming device/pc. 2.5 Libraries and Sample Projects A number of libraries and sample projects are supplied with S7 Graph V5.0. These libraries and projects can be deleted in the SIMATIC Manager. To reinstall them, you will need to run the S7 Graph V5.0 Setup program again. Note Sample projects and libraries shipped with S7 Graph V5.0 are always copied when you install S7 Graph. If you have edited the standard sample projects or libraries, they will be overwritten with the original examples/libraries if you reinstall S7 Graph V5.0. You should therefore make a copy of the standard examples/libraries before you make changes to them and then make changes to the copy Using Symbolic Names (Upper and Lower Case for Symbols) From STEP 7 V4.02 onwards, the use of upper or lower case characters is no longer taken into account.(according to IEC ). In other words, it is the name itself, and not the way it is written, which is important. Example: The symbols "Motor" and "MOTOR" refer to the same variable. For more information, refer to the corresponding section in the online help or in the manual Programming with STEP 7. In order to be able to use this function with older projects created with software versions preceding STEP 7 V5.0, you must: Open the symbol table with the Symbol Editor. The names are then adapted automatically, or Rearrange the project. You should make sure that the projects are not write-protected. You can then continue using the project both with V5.0 and earlier versions..

If two identical symbols have been used in the symbol table, one with upper case and one with lower case, the symbols will be marked as non-unique. You can display nonunique symbols in the Symbol Editor using a filter. 2.7 Converting Graph5 Programs to S7 Graph Programs Your CD S7 Graph contains a separate program which is to be installed for support in the conversion of Graph 5 programs to S7 Graph. 2.8 Versions of Created Function Blocks S 7 Graph offers you many new functions that cannot be interpreted by S7 Graph Versions 4.0 or earlier. Created function blocks are automatically kept to the lowest possible version. In the simplest of cases, a version 3 block will be created. If you have chosen the synchronization options or the use of a standard block for the run time system, at least version 4 will be generated. Setting a user defined interface or editing operations (insert or delete) in the interface, the use of timers, counters, arithmetic or assignment of operations, or the activation of lock operating mode selection unavoidably leads to version 5. You can see the version of the compiled block under properties in the dialog block comments. Please note the effect of this setting when using one of the included standard blocks. If you have created a program with S7 Graph V4 and use FC70 or FC71 you could, by keeping changes, use functions only available as of V5.0. You then would have to replace FC70 or FC71 with FC72 and set the corresponding compiler options. Alternately, you could of course also replace FC70 with FC72 (rename). If you fail to do this, the sequential function block will not run. 2.9 Handling Message Numbers when Copying Sequential Blocks and their Associated I-DBs When copying the FB/I-DB pairs to a new block folder, the messages will be created independently with new numbers on the copy of the instance data. Afterwards, the S7 Graph FB has to be opened in the new folder and saved again and the command "Create Instance DB" be run Status of Temporary Variables In actions, the value for scan cycle checkpoint will be shown for status. This leads unavoidably to the result that no status for temporary variables can be displayed CPUs Working with Blocks <= 8 KB You cannot use FC72 if you use a CPU that works only with blocks of 8 KB or less. When using V5 features select the compilation option "fullcode" "Insert symbol" and "Edit symbol" These functions are only available if you are using STEP7 V5.0+SP1 or later Undoing Interface Changes If you modify the interface of your block with the settings function "block settings", you can undo the changes step by step.
