3 Preamble The next pages will explain the technical requirements for your hardware to use SOFT-SOLUTIONS. This list of specifications for the server and client hardware already takes the possible use of other applications in addition to SOFT-SOLUTIONS on the corresponding systems into consideration. Therefore, the specified requirements have been determined with regard to security and performance. Below is a description of the following installation versions: Client-Server installation version (local network) Terminal server/citrix installation version This documentation also provides general notes regarding the installation of SOFT-SOLUTIONS. There is no standard option for the installation of SOFT-SOLUTIONS at your dealership and no generally binding guidelines can be defined for the technical requirements. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have in advance regarding the upcoming SOFT-SOLUTIONS installation. 4 1 Client-Server installation version (local network) SOFT-SOLUTIONS is a client-server application. The communication between client and server is based on TCP/IP and ODBC data sources. It is therefore not necessary to connect network drives between the clients and the server (SQL database) or issue authorizations. 1.1 Database server Microsoft SQL database server Microsoft SQL can be used with the following versions: R R The Microsoft SQL Express Edition is a Microsoft database system with a license that permits its use free of charge for any purpose without written permission. Please read the information below carefully. It contains important instructions to prepare for installation. If you would like to install SOFT-SOLUTIONS on a 2008 R2 Workgroup Edition database server or higher version, please make sure that it is completely installed and configured on the day of the requested installation. If you would like to install SOFT-SOLUTIONS on the 2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2, 2014 Express Edition database server, soft-nrg Development GmbH will complete this installation during the scheduled SOFT-SOLUTIONS installation. If one or more instances of Microsoft SQL Server 7, MSDE 1.0 are already installed separately from SOFT-SOLU- TIONS on the server that is provided, it will not be possible to additionally install SOFT-SOLUTIONS on the database server under Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2, 2014 Express. In this case, the existing instances must first be migrated to MSSQL Server 2008 R2 or higher. soft-nrg Development GmbH does not provide migration services for non-soft-solutions instances Oracle database server The Oracle database server can be used in versions Oracle 11g Release 2 and Oracle 12c Release 1. If you would like to install SOFT-SOLUTIONS on an Oracle 11g Release 2 or Oracle 12c Release 1 database server, please make sure that the server is completely installed and configured on the day of the scheduled installation. 6 1.1.4 Hardware requirements The following hardware requirements must be met to operate SOFT-SOLUTIONS on your database server: Database system MSSQL 2008 (32/64bit) MSSQL 2008 R2 (32/64bit) MSSQL 2012 (32/64bit) MSSQL 2012 R2 (32/64bit) MSSQL 2014 (32/64bit) Oracle 11g Release 2 (64bit) Oracle 12c Release 1 (64bit) Processor current local processor technology for the business server environment Operating memory (RAM) at least 1 Gb of available operating memory for each operation in one instance/database with approximately 20 simultaneous users Hard disk space at least 25 Gb of available hard disk contingency (distribution to 2 physical drives or RAID is recommended) + at least 25 Gb for additional instances/databases or SOFT-SOLUTIONS modules DVD drive available Network card at least 100 Mbit/second As of Page 4 of 11

7 1.2 Client The following operating systems are currently supported: Windows operating systems 7 Professional, Enterprise, Ultimate (32/64bit*) 8.1 (32/64bit*) Processor current local processor technology for the business workstation environment Operating memory (RAM) recommended depending on the operating system; however, at least 2 Gb Hard disk space at least 10 Gb of available hard disk contingency DVD drive available Network card at least 100 Mbit/second Screen resolution from 1280 * 1024 pixels, minimum of 16bit color Standard setting for the Windows display (The application display is optimized for the standard settings of the Windows display option for DPI, text and elements) Internet Explorer current version Additionally, please make sure that the applicable service packs and/or service patches are in-stalled. Windows operating systems with an activated firewall may cause problems when using SOFT-SOLUTIONS unless the firewall has been configured specifically. * In 64bit environments, SOFT-SOLUTIONS will run in 32bit mode and the ODBC driver must be used and configured in the 32bit version. 8 1.3 Client for internet server The communication between SOFT-SOLUTIONS modules and external systems require an internet server that can be installed directly on the database server. The hardware requirements are based on the database server requirements. The following additional items must be taken into consideration: Operating memory (RAM) recommended depending on the operating system; however, at least 2 Gb an additional 200 Mb must be included for each database with a branch, every additional branch in the database will require an additional 100 Mb. Hard disk space at least 10 Gb of available hard disk contingency the use of the soft-pad requires additional hard disk memory for the storage of image files. This space depends on the camera resolution of the hardware that is used. 1.4 Branch connection In principle, a branch operation could be connected to the database server with a remote data transmission line. However, the SOFT-SOLUTIONS operation will only be satisfactory with sufficient line capacity availability. Transmission technologies such as DSL do not provide the necessary stability for the required capacities. Only a standard wired connection ("local connection") with sufficient bandwidth can provide the required stability. soft-nrg Development GmbH does not support VPN connections via DSL without the use of a terminal server. 9 2 Terminal server/citrix installation version 2.1 Windows terminal server installation version The following rule of thumb can be used for a sufficient specification of the terminal server depending on the number of users who access the server: The terminal server should have approximately 100 Mb of additional operating memory per user and a hard disk contingent of at least 500 Mb. The larger the number of users who are working on the terminal server, the higher the cycle frequency must be for the processors. A maximum of 10 users per processor core is recommended. The available hardware is always statistically distributed to the number of users, whereby the terminal server hereby distributes the resources dynamically. This means that additional resources will be allocated to a user who requires more resources than the other users. For reasons of performance, the terminal server should not use the same hardware as the database server. Instead, it should access it like a normal client. The database server is subject to the same technical requirements that were already described in the Chapter 1 Client-Server installation version (local network). The following terminal server operating systems are currently supported: Windows terminal server versions 2008 (32/64bit) 2008 R2 (64bit) 2012 (64bit) 2012 R2 (64bit) Processor current local processor technology for the business server environment (approximately 10 users per processor core) Example: 40 users and 10 users per processor core result in 4 cores. Operating memory (RAM) at least 2 Gb Example: 40 users x 100 Mb per user result in 4 Gb, + 2 Gb for the operating system Hard disk space at least 3 Gb of available hard disk contingency DVD drive available Network card at least 100 Mbit/second Printer configured for terminal server use Remote Desktop Client installed at the workstations Branch connection depending upon the number of workstations. RDP protocol approximately 40 Kbit/second per client, ICA protocol approximately 14.4 Kbit/second per client As of Page 7 of 11

10 2.2 Citrix terminal server installation version In principle, SOFT-SOLUTIONS can be used on terminal servers in combination with Citrix. However, the use of Citrix will result in additional licensing costs. In addition, the use of SOFT-SOLUTIONS on a terminal server with Citrix is subject to the same minimum requirements that have already been described in Chapter 2.1 Windows terminal server installation version. 3 File system All Windows systems require the use of the NTFS file system. Otherwise, the correct operation of the application cannot be guaranteed. 4 Use of virus scanners Virus scanners that are installed at workstations and on database servers require the correct exception settings for SOFT-SOLUTIONS database files and program folders. The configuration of these exceptions must take the database system requirements into consideration. The folder containing the program files from the permanent check must be excluded for SOFT-SOLUTIONS. 5 Back-up Regular back-up of the SOFT-SOLUTIONS database to an external medium is recommended. Correct configuration must be ensured for the use of back-up tools. Databases may not be backed up during active operation unless the back-up tool that is used provides the proper support. 6 soft-welcome 6.1 soft-welcome in the client-server network The presentation of your service appointments and marketing actions requires the proper setup for your workstation. The same system requirements as described in Chapter 1.2 Client apply. Please note that the PC must be integrated in your network to display appointments. A PC that is used for the soft-welcome cannot be used as a workstation at the same time. Only one welcome show can be started on each PC. Separate PCs are required to display different shows on multiple computer screens. The following additional hardware components are recommended for the use of a TV or Plasma screen for presentations: Integrated graphics or TV card in the PC with the correct connection for the monitor TFT or plasma screen in a suitable size The display device is connected to the PC with the compatible connection. The distance between the PC and TV or plasma monitor should not exceed five meters. Presentations on wide screen monitors require a graphics card that supports the resolution of the display device. Please contact your hardware supplier with any questions you may have. As of Page 8 of 11

11 6.2 soft-welcome with the use of a terminal server If you are using a terminal server (Windows terminal server/citrix), the soft-welcome will still be installed locally on the PC. The same minimum requirements as described above apply and the PC must be integrated in your network. The direct use of soft-welcome on the terminal server/citrix is not supported. 7 soft-communicator 7.1 Telephony Please note, that the customer must ensure the installation and configuration of the telephone components prior to setting up the soft-communicator. The soft-communicator can only use telephony functions that are also provided and supported by the customer's TAPI driver. soft-nrg Development GmbH can check the functions that are available through the installed TAPI driver in advance. Option 1-3rd Party driver on a server (preferred) A TAPI driver with a connection to the telephone system must be installed and completely configured on a central server. The driver must support a minimum of Microsoft TAPI V 2.0 Standard. Option 2-1st Party driver at the local workstation A TAPI driver with a connection to the telephone system must be installed and completely configured on every local workstation. The driver must support a minimum of Microsoft TAPI V 2.0 Standard. Server Different services will be set up on a server. The workstations on which SOFT-SOLUTIONS has been installed will communicate with the services on the corresponding server in the network via TCP Port Messages The SOFT-SOLUTIONS client requires a connection to the database to use the messages An program must be installed and completely configured on the local PC to transfer addresses from SOFT-SOLUTIONS. 12 8 soft-pad The soft-pad is available for receiving in the vehicle. The following hardware properties are sup-ported. Transmissions are processed via https. For using the soft-messenger portal we recommend Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox in the current version. 9.1 Firewall Please note that the proper configurations are required for your firewall and/or proxy server for the URL and subsequent pages. 9.2 Encoding We try to encode all messages with the GSM (7bit) default alphabet. Using this encoding, it is possible to send up to 160 characters. If we obtain other characters, we encode the complete message with UCS-2 (16bit). A single SMS GSM message using this encoding can have at most 70 characters For further information please visit 10 Online Help Access to the Online Help service requires the communication via https to the URL and all subsequent pages from every workstation.
