5 Step 2 : Run the installation of the software : Double-click on the installation executable and pursue the installation process, taking care to the location where the software will be installed : The default installation creates a folder named \RallyPro\ on the drive where the installation executable is located. That is to say: if Rally-Pro-x.y.zz-Pak.exe is located in any subdirectory of the drive C:\, the installation will suggest the following path for the software directory: C:\RallyPro\. Once the software installed, the shortcut for <Rally-Pro> will look as below : Page 5 / 36
6 Step 3 : License key. <Extended> Version: if you have purchased a license key for <Rally-Pro> <Extended>, a USB software protection key should have been shipped to you : If this is the case, plug it now into a USB port of your computer. Step 4 : First session with <Rally-Pro>. Double-click on the shortcut for <Rally-Pro> to run the software. If you have not plugged any appropriate protection key, it will run in <Free> mode. This mode is designed for simple kind of races : access to timing devices is restricted according to current software agreement, race data management is limited (limited competitors information, exports only possible in PDF format). Otherwise, with a protection key, the <Extended> mode will run. The first time you run <Rally-Pro> you can modify the default data folders ; it is recommended to keep the default configuration and to set once for all these directories. Page 6 / 36
7 Step 5 : The <Free> mode and the <Extended> mode. To use the <Extended> mode, you have to check if your dongle is well plugged and recognized. In the menu Help, click on Hardware protection key. The window below will open. First check the square to the left of the label Hardware protection key. If the square is green, your dongle is recognized. If it is red, no dongle is connected and the software is locked. (Only the <Free> mode works.) For each software component, the <Extended> column shows the status of your software license: - a indicates that the <Dongle> license key is valid for the software in the version you are running. - a indicates that the <Dongle> license key is valid, but for an earlier software version. In this case you will need to purchase an update for this component. In this purpose, click on the button marked with: and then contact Vola (<soft@vola.fr> or +33 (0) ). - a indicates that the <Dongle> is not present or that you have a <Dongle> with no license for the software. In this case you will need to purchase a license of the software. In this purpose, click on the button marked with: and then contact Vola (<soft@vola.fr> or +33 (0) ). Page 7 / 36
8 Step 6 : Open an event You have now checked your dongle protection if you have one. It s now time to open a race by clicking on the big icon Open a race. The window below will open and you will have the choice to open a race or to create a new one If you create a new event, the software offers you to fill the General Parameters. You can do it immediately or fill it later. The information entered here will be displayed in the main window of <Rally-Pro> and in the edits. Indicate the desired time precision. Click if needed on the check-box Regularity. If you process Special Stages timing with our software component <Timestamp-Rally-Pro>, click the check-box and validate with Ok (you will have to come back later into this window). Page 8 / 36
