If you follow the instructions and still have technical difficulties running the program, please contact your informatic specialists first. If you believe that there is something wrong with this file, please let us know at the following adress : vola@vola.fr. Thank you. It is recommended you read these instructions completely and close all software applications before starting this installation process. The instructions are divided into several sections that you can find above. Page 1 / 27

Step 1 : Operating with <Msports-Pro> <Display-Msports-Pro> displays data collected by <Msports-Pro>. It s therefore needed : that both software components should be installed. This only will enable <Display-Msports-Pro> to display data. They can be installed : either on the same computer with a secondary monitor (solution 1A) or with a TV set as secondary monitor (solution 1B) or with several secondary monitors (solution 1C). You must then run as many times <Display-Msports-Pro> as the number of wished displays or on two separate computers connected by Ethernet (solution 2), and optionally on other monitors, that these components have compatible version numbers : variable «X.Y» identical in the version format : «version X.Y.ZZ», and that there exists a read/write shared folder on the Ethernet network. This folder must be stated with precision in both software as described in this document. Page 2 / 27

Step 2 : Downloading the installation packs for <Msports-Pro> and <Display-Msports-Pro> Download the latest versions on the site by clicking on the following links for <Msports-Pro> : «Vola Timing» / «Logiciels» / «Msports Pro» and for <Display-Msports-Pro>, click at the bottom of the page on : «PRODUITS ASSOCIÉS» / «Display Msports Pro» For each software component, click on button «DOWNLOAD». Enter your login or register if you have none. Click on button «DOWNLOAD» on the right. In the window that opens select «Save» and let your computer process downloading. Step 3 : Run the installation for the two software components Double-click on the installation executables and follow the installation procedure, taking care to where the software will be installed : Page 3 / 27

The default installation creates a folder named «\DisplayMsportsPro\» on the drive where the installation executable is located (that is to say that if «Display-Msports-Pro-x.y.zz-Pak.exe» is located in any subdirectory of the drive «C:\», the installation will suggest the following path for the software directory : «C:\DisplayMsportsPro\»). Once both software components installed, their short-cuts look as follows : Step 4 : Protection key If you have subscribed to the rights of use for <Display-Msports-Pro>, a protection key should have been shipped to you (except if you had already a key for <Msports-Pro> in which case a code would have been communicated to you as explained below). This USB protection must in any case be connected to the computer running <Msports-Pro>, regardless of the chosen configuration : Page 4 / 27

As the USB protection key is connected to the timing computer, you can check in <Msports-Pro> whether this key is coded for the desired software components : in menu «Help», click on «Hardware protection key» : The following window appears : Page 5 / 27

In this example, the plugged protection key contains only the code for <Msports-Pro>. To subscribe to <Display-Msports-Pro>, you must here click on corresponding button marked with, to make the following window pop : You have here to communicate this code to Vola by phone or . Once the purchase concluded, a password is provided to you. You have to report it into the appropriate field. And after confirming with «Ok», you will note that the protection key allows all purchased software : Page 6 / 27

Step 5 : Connecting <Msports-Pro> and <Display-Msports-Pro> : 5.1 Running <Msports-Pro> and checking the events folder : To run the software, double-click on its icon on the desktop. <Msports-Pro> records by default the events and competitions data in the folder «C:\MsportsPro\Events». In order to check this path, go in <Msports-Pro> in menu «Local configuration» and click on «Folders» : You can here take note of the events folder as it has been defined. It is located in the field «Default Event Folder :» of the window below : Page 7 / 27

5.2 Share in read/write mode the events folder : On the computer running <Msports-Pro> : open the file explorer search for the events folder and with the mouse right-click on this folder, select «Share with», and then «Specific people...». The following window opens : choose «Everyone» in the first combo-box and click on button «Add» choose «Read/Write» for the «Permission Level» of «Everyone» in the matching combo-box click on button «Share». Page 8 / 27

5.3 - On the computer running <Msports-Pro> - Take note of the IP address (recommended) or of the computer s name The IP address : in the «Network and Sharing Centre» : click on button «Start» / «Control Panel» : => Control Panel displayed by category : «Network and Internet» / «View network status and tasks» / «Change adapter settings» => or Control Panel displayed by icons : «Network and sharing centre» / «Modify card settings» double-click on the icon for your network card and click on button «Details» : take note of the IP address in front of : «IPv4 Address» (example above : ) The computer s name : click on button «Start» with the mouse, right-click on «Computer» and click on «Properties» pick the «Computer name» (for example under the title «Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings»); example : PC-Vola On the computer running <Msports-Pro> - Launch a timing session To initialise the link with <Display-Msports-Pro>, it is compulsory to start a timing : first, open an event, either by clicking on menu «Files», and then «Open an event», or by clicking on the large icon with a yellow folder : Page 9 / 27

select an existing event or an empty record for a new event : click on link «Manage runs», and then on button «Timing» : Page 10 / 27

The software here shifts to timekeeping mode and the link with <Display-Msports-Pro> is thus initialised : On the computer running <Display-Msports-Pro> : For the data to be received through the Ethernet link : check that the Ethernet cable is connected to one Ethernet port of your computer, start <Display-Msports-Pro>, enter the path to your shared folder (shared in paragraph 5.3) in the field named «Folder (Msports Pro Events Files)», or browse to this shared folder with the button marked with a yellow folder, then enter only the IP address or the computer s name in the field «PC Timing (Server) :» Page 11 / 27

Note : If both software components are running on the same computer, enter «localhost» in the field «PC Timing (Server) :». => At this point, clicking on button «Ok» bottom-right of <Display-Msports-Pro> should display the default view, with some data of the race opened in <Msports-Pro>, for example the title of the event and the current time in <Msports-Pro> : Step 6 : Setting up in <Msports-Pro> the data sent to <Display-Msports-Pro> The type of data displayed in the columns of <Display-Msports-Pro> is set up in the timing interface of <Msports-Pro>. In <Msports-Pro> started in timing mode, click on menu «Options», and then «Software Parameters» : Page 12 / 27

In the window that opens click on tab «Ranking» : Button «+» enables to insert a line at the cursor position. Button «x» enables to delete the line enlightened by the cursor. Buttons «Up arrow» and «Down arrow» enable to move the line enlightened by the cursor.] In the frame «Display Pro / Live Pro», each line in the grid corresponds to a column of data in the ranking displayed by <Display-Msports-Pro>. To change the display of data type, just double-click on the appropriate line. Doubleclicking on a «Fields» cell enables to change the data type (Rank, Bib, Name, Nation, ). Text alignment and column width are also modifiable. Page 13 / 27

Step 7 : Setting up the display for the computer running <Display-Msports-Pro> 7.1 Viewing <Display-Msports-Pro> on a secondary monitor : Configuring and noting the resolution of your monitors : You must first properly configure your computer display. Here we will use two monitors : the left one will be used for <Msports-Pro>, <Display-Msports-Pro> will be displayed on the right one. With the mouse, right-click on your desktop and choose <Screen resolution>. Note here the resolution of each monitor : => In this example, Monitor 1 and Monitor 2 have the same resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels. You can click on «Identify» in order to confirm which monitor is number 1 or 2. It is recommended to keep <Msports-Pro> on monitor n 1 so that any window or potential pop-up would not display above <Display-Msports-Pro> window. When monitor 1 is selected, check that it is written : «This is your main display». Otherwise click on the check-box «Have this display as main display». Page 14 / 27

Here is a summary of our configuration : To the left : Monitor 1 : <Msports-Pro> 1920*1080 To the right : Monitor 2 <Display-Msports-Pro> 1920*1080 Main display Configurer <Display-Msports-Pro> : Position <Display-Msports-Pro> window : In order to view <Display-Msports-Pro> on «Monitor 2» you have to configure the X and Y shift in the edit-boxes that are under title «Display», subtitle «Position» : Enter in X the width of «Monitor 1» that is to say 1920 pixels for our example. You can add a Y shift if the heights of your two monitors are different. Page 15 / 27

<Display-Msports-Pro> dimensions : In order that <Display-Msports-Pro> may fill the entire surface of our screen, we have to specify this screen resolution to the software. For that, click on this icon : enter the width of «Monitor 2», here <1920> pixels, and confirm by clicking on button «Ok», enter then the height of «Monitor 2» i.e. <1080> pixels in this example and confirm. <Display-Msports-Pro> is now configured for your second screen. You can here click on «Ok» so as to view the grid of scores on «Monitor 2». Notes : You can simultaneously adjust the font size for both arriving and ranking grids with buttons and situated to the right of dimension button : You can at any time go back to the configuration window of <Display-Msports-Pro> by pressing <F1> key on your keyboard (in order to activate this key your mouse cursor must be on the display window of <Display-Msports-Pro>). This will enable you to adjust your display or even font size to the pixel precision. Page 16 / 27

Start <Msports-Pro> : Run now <Msports-Pro>. You visualise it on «Monitor 1» and <Display-Msports-Pro> is as wished on «Monitor 2» like this : Monitor 1 : Monitor 2 : Footer text and logos : Footer text : It is possible to add a text at the bottom of the display window of <Display-Msports-Pro>, for example the organiser of the event : club, comity, etc. To do this, enter the text you want in the first edit-box under title «Foot of Page / Logos», here for example : «Multi-sport Club of the City of XXX» : Page 17 / 27

Notes : This text position, and its maximum size, its alignment mode, its colour, its font are configurable : see «8.4 Modifying the graphical items» : it is data type «USER TEXT». You can add more text banners like this : by adding a line of fixed text (data type «Fixed text») in the graphical items. Logos : It is possible to display up to three logos in alternation. This requires to indicate the path of the image (which must be of «.bmp» format) that you want to display. Enter it in edit-box «1.» for the first logo or click on the button marked with a yellow folder to launch a file browser and find your image file. Notes : The position and size of this logo can be configured : see «8.4 Modifying the graphical items» : it is data type «USER LOGO». You can add one or two additional logos which will be displayed alternately for a period that you can configure : for this, enter the path of a second logo in edit-box «2.» and optionally a third logo in edit-box «3.». The display duration of each logo can be entered directly in seconds into the edit-box preceded by this symbol : Page 18 / 27

7.3 - Navigation options in the ranking : The ranking can be displayed either automatically scanned or with a scroll-bar available to the «Speaker» in this frame : Automatic scan : the ranking is displayed page par page. You can specify : a maximum number of pages (for example enter «1» to display only the first page) in the first edit-box, the display duration in seconds of the first page in the second edit-box, the display duration in seconds of the following pages in the third edit-box. Manual browsing with a scroll-bar : Tick on check-box «Speaker» : it is followed by the icon of a scroll-bar. Note : The number of rows in the grid and their height, as well as their position, size, colours are configurable : see «8.4 Modifying the graphical items» : it is of data type «GRID» and called «GRID : CLASSIFICATION». Page 19 / 27

Step 8 : Using the models of display All changes made in the frame «Display settings» can be restored from display templates provided with the software. You can also save your changes to a custom display model. 8.1 Loading one of the 16 templates : The title bar with a yellow background bears the name of the model that is used. To load a different template click on button «Load» : The following window appears : Page 20 / 27

Here you can choose one among the 16 templates provided with the software. As soon as you confirm with «Ok», the selected model applies immediately. 8.2 Modifying an existing display model : The most common changes are performed with the three buttons under the title bar : We have already seen ( 7.1.2) this button : display window. which enables to resize the whole Buttons and enable to alter simultaneously the font size in both grids «Ranking» and «Running». 8.3 Recording a new display model : If you want to customise an existing display model, we suggest you to save it under another name. To do this, click on button «Save» and enter a new model name : Note that when you modify an existing model, a symbol «*» appears next to its name in the title bar. Page 21 / 27

8.4 Modifying the graphical items : You can add graphical items, or modify or delete those provided in each model in the frame «Display module» : Each line corresponds to a graphic element, sorted within four data types : «TEXT» : text typed by the user or data sent by <Msports-Pro> «SHAPE» : rectangle or rounded frames «IMAGE» : among the logos or an image file which path must be specified «GRID» : grid filled with race data sent by <Msports-Pro> You can : add a line with button «New» modify a line with «Modify» or with a double-click on the line to be modified delete a line with «Delete» The following buttons can apply not only to one line but group of selected lines too : for example, in order to move a group of lines, hold down the «Shift» key on your keyboard and select the les lines you want with the mouse and then click on one of these buttons : - : to change the order in which items are drawn, for example to be sure that a banner of type «SHAPE» will be drawn first before the text would be written on it, the «SHAPE» object must come first in the list before the «TEXT» item (for example «SHAPE» on line 35 and corresponding «TEXT» on line 36) - buttons «Copy» and «Paste» - : enable to change the font size only for objects of type «TEXT» or «GRID» - button «Move» enable to introduce a «DX» horizontal shift or vertical «DY» for the selected items. Page 22 / 27

Example 1 : Only showing a ranking grid, that is to say not displaying the competitors who are still running : First possibility : you can load a display template of type «ranking» because these templates only display the ranking grid. Second possibility : for example starting from template «default_800_600.dis» or from a display model you have already customised, delete all the lines of type «GRID» except «GRID : CLASSIFICATION» because it is the ranking grid. Then double-click on this line «GRID : CLASSIFICATION» to bring up the settings window as follows : Here we have first increased the height of the grid so that it extends down to the border «IMAGE» item at the bottom, and then rised the number of lines to fill the whole available space. To see more lines, you can reduce the «Lines height» and rise again the «Lines Amount». Page 23 / 27

Example 2 : Changing the background image : For example starting from the template «default_800_600.dis», you can replace the background image with an image of your choice. To do this, your image must be of format «.bmp» and you must copy it into the folder containing «DisplayMsportsPro.exe» (by default : «C:\DisplayMsportsPro»). Then double-click on the line corresponding to the window background. In our example this is the line «1». This line is of type «IMAGE» and its value is «WALLPAPER.BMP». The setting window below is displayed. Here you must find your image in combo-box «File» and once it is selected the image is directly drawn in the display window of <Display-Msports-Pro> : Page 24 / 27

Example 3 : Changing the pattern image for delimiting lines : For example starting from template «default_800_600.dis», you can modify the horizontal delimiting lines using an image of your choice. As for the background image, your image must be of format «.bmp» and you must copy it into the folder containing «DisplayMsportsPro.exe». Then double-click on the lines corresponding to the horizontal delimiting lines. In our example they are the lines «6, 7, 8, 9 et 10». These lines are of type «IMAGE» and their value is «BORDER_HORZ.BMP». The setting window below is displayed. Here you must find your image in combo-box «File» and once it is selected the image is directly drawn in the display window of <Display-Msports-Pro> : 8.5 Adding a coloured background or getting a view-cut of the display : This frame «Main window» enables to add a coloured background around the display. It enables most commonly to set a larger width and height for this background. Be careful if you specify smaller width or height than those of the display, you will get an effect of view-cut of the display. Page 25 / 27

Step 9 : Displaying nations with text or flags : In order to display nations in <Display-Msports-Pro> it is needed that : nations have been defined in section «Manage Competitors» in <Msports-Pro>, you have configured the sending of information «Nation» : see «6 Setting up in <Msports-Pro> the data sent to <Display-Msports-Pro>» : there must be a line «Nation». There are two display possibilities : in text format; this will directly display the nation text entered in <Msports-Pro> or with images : for that you must have «.bmp» files of flags on your computer. And the name of these files must be the same as nations typed in <Msports-Pro> Downloading the flags provided by Vola : In <Display-Msports-Pro> it is possible to download files made available to you by Vola. Their name respects the format of the International Olympic Committee (CIO) : for example FRA for France, GBR for United-Kingdom, etc. By default they are copied in a folder named «\Flags\» and created under the working directory of <Display-Msports-Pro>. You can change this folder in the following edit-box : Then click on button «Download our flags» and choose either simple flags «FlagsCIO.zip» example : or flags with the nation text code «FlagsCIOText.zip» example : Page / 27

Let your computer process downloading, then confirm with «Ok» to display the flags Displaying text instead of flags : For that, you can empty the edit-box that configure the directory for flags and confirm with button «Ok» : Page / 27
