adjustdataloadstemptablespace Function Database Space Management Synopsis dbmgr adjustdataloadstemptablespace NewTmpSize[Units] Description The adjustdataloadstemptablespace command resizes the temporary tablespace for every installed DataLoad component (both SNMP and BULK). This command is only used if the number of resources managed by DataLoad has changed significantly from the initial sizing and deployment. You can determine if this is the case by checking the file, Prefix_COLL_TEMP, for Oracle errors that state that the temporary tablespaces for the collector is too small. Note: Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager automatically resizes the temporary tablespace when you add a new collector. Never use this command after installing a new collector. Important: This command should only be used at the direction of IBM Support. Parameters NewTmpSize [Units] Specifies the new size of the temporary tablespace (integer) and the unit of the new size. The unit must be one of the following: K (kilobytes) M (megabytes) The size can be null, in which case the value is taken from the registry. Return Values If successful, the _Command command returns 0 and displays one of the following messages: The temporary tablespace was extended. It was too small according to the registry entry DATALOAD.COMMON.TEMP_TSPACE_SIZE_PER_COLL. The temporary tablespace was not changed. It was the right size (or above) according to the registry entry DATALOAD.COMMON.TEMP_TSPACE_SIZE_PER_COLL. Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager dbmgr Reference Guide, Version

altertablespacereadonly Function Database Backup Synopsis dbmgr altertablespacereadonly Description Used when backing up the database, the altertablespacereadonly command changes the status of all tablespaces that have a status of "pending read-only" to "read-only" mode. This command does not take any parameters. Return Values If successful, the altertablespacereadonly command returns 0 and the following message: Alter Read Only completed successfully. Example dbmgr altertablespacereadonly result : 0 Alter Read Only completed successfully [pvuser@kafka:/opt/oracle] See Also Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager: Database Administration Guide 6 Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager dbmgr Reference Guide, Version 1.3.1

analyzemetadatatables Function Database Statistics Synopsis dbmgr analyzemetadatatables TableSetToAnalyze ForceCollection Description The SQL queries that Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager submits to the Oracle database are based on the Oracle cost-based optimizer, which determines the best execution plan for each query. To assist the optimizer, the analyzemetadatatables command gathers the necessary Oracle statistics on metadata tables according to Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager internal parameters. Without these statistics, Oracle cannot properly determine the most efficient way to access the Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager data. Note: The analyzemetadatatables command is normally placed into cron so that statistics can be gathered at regular intervals, based on an internal calendar. In some cases, however, you may need to gather these statistics manually (after an initial installation of Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager and an initial inventory, for example). Parameters TableSetToAnalyze Specifies the tableset to analyze. Possible values are: A (All) G (Grouping) H (History) I (Inventory) ForceCollection Note: If you are using the command manually, IBM recommends that you use the A (All) option. Specifies whether or not Oracle statistics are to be gathered on every Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager metadata table, regardless of the internal calendar. Possible values are Y (Yes) or N (No). The default is N (No). Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager dbmgr Reference Guide, Version

analyzemetadatatables (continued) Return Values If successful, the analyzemetadatatables command returns 0 and displays the following message: Metadata tables analyzed. Example To improve performance, IBM recommends that you regularly compute the statistics on metadata tables, which is why we recommend that this command be placed in cron. The following example shows a cron entry that checks statistics every hour at 30 minutes past the hour. Note that the ForceCollection option is set to N, so that statistics will only be calculated when the internal calendar determines that it is necessary, and not every hour: 30 * * * * [ -f /opt/dm/datamart.env ] && [ -x /opt/dm/bin/dbmgr ] &&. /opt/dm/datamart.env && dbmgr analyzemetadatatables A N 8 Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager dbmgr Reference Guide, Version 1.3.1

audittrail Function Database Statistics Synopsis dbmgr audittrail TableType StartDate StartFormat EndDate EndFormat RecordSeparator Description The audittrail command creates an audit history of changes made to the Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager database. Whenever an insert, update, or delete operation is performed on a database table, the action is stored in a historical table for auditing purposes. The audittrail command queries this historical table to return records for a specific period of time and outputs the results to a log file. Note: The period defined by the start and end dates is limited to a maximum of 45 days for performance reasons. Parameters TableType StartDate Specifies the table type for the query. Possible values are: I (Install Config) - Installation and configuration tables, such as aggregation sets, configuration statistics, etc. S (Security Config) - Users and group tables, such as RUSER and USER. DM (DataMart) - DataMart tables, such as calendar, formulas, inventory, thresholds, etc. DV (DataView) - DataView tables, such as APP, scheduler, etc. DO (Dynamic Objects) - Subelements, elements, properties, etc. A (All) - All tables.
