3 1 INTRODUCTION This document contains last minute information and updates to the BlueCielo Meridian Explorer 2014 SP1 documentation. For detailed installation information and system requirements, please refer to the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Server Administrator s Guide. 1

4 2 WHAT S NEW IN BLUECIELO MERIDIAN EXPLORER 2014 SP1 The new features and improvements of Meridian Explorer include: User group memberships may now be exported to a file and imported to make synchronizing the groups between servers more convenient. A new DRAFT PRINT dialog box is shown during printing, in which separate options can be set for each document in a batch. Synchronization job validation can now be scheduled similar to indexing and thumbnail generation. BlueCielo license codes and authorization keys for all products can now be entered in the Meridian Enterprise Server Administration Console and they will be registered in the BlueCielo license server to which the Meridian Enterprise Server server is connected. The visibility and appearance of the viewer window has been improved under certain conditions when the Enable preview option is enabled. A new button Full-text index has been added to the toolbar in the Meridian Enterprise Server Administration Console on the repository Metadata page for convenience of rebuilding the index after changing the Text Search Indexed option of properties. Two new search commands References and Related object tags have been added to the Search ribbon and to the document shortcut menu. Each allows refining the search scope and the results are shown in a new window. The synchronization of documents that have references to deleted documents no longer fails and generates an error. The references are now ignored and synchronization proceeds without generating an error. A new setting StoreFeedbackRedlineOnRendition has been added to the WebConfigDto.dat file. This can be set to True to always store feedback page redlines with the rendition file of the document instead of the original file. When the repository shows only renditions, the file size that is shown is now that of the rendition file, not the source document. A new option Enable search on object tag name has been added to view definitions. If enabled, this adds a Object Tag Name field to the default search form and to the advanced search form. Users can type a name (supported by autocomplete) in the field or select one from the list. The search result will show only the documents that are related to the selected object tag. This condition can be combined with other search criteria. The Chinese (standard Mandarin) language is now supported in the client application and in the Administration Console. The Show renditions only option has been changed to Display Content Option and now offers three options: Show rendition only, Show both - default native, and Show both - default rendition. Changes made to the Web server address property in Meridian Enterprise Administrator are now updated properly in the Web Access root property of the vault registration in Meridian Enterprise Server Administration Console. 2

5 The default path is set properly for the Stream root property of remote vault registrations in Meridian Enterprise Server Administration Console. An issue with property values not being passed in the URL placeholder of an external page has been fixed. BlueCielo Publisher 2012 repository synchronization jobs with over 250 properties are now upgraded correctly. A REFRESH command has been added to the Users and Groups pages in Meridian Enterprise Server Administration Console to show new changes made in Meridian Enterprise Administrator when the two systems have been integrated together. Background tasks that are terminated unexpectedly are now flagged as aborted after 30 minutes and do not generate error messages in the event log. Previously, the uncompleted tasks were retried and generated error messages in the event log. The Export to Excel command now provides an Include URL option. Users can select the URL type that is included in the output spreadsheet: property page, viewer, source file, or rendition. Search filters set in a navigation view are now reset properly when the user switches to a property-based view. A new setting DisableImpersonationForBCM has been added to the WebConfigDto.dat file. This can be set to True to disable impersonation as the end user for security delegation when Meridian Enterprise and Meridian Enterprise Server are installed on different computers. This prevents the Kerberos double hop problem. The default size of generated thumbnail images is now 300x200. Numerous improvements have been made to the ipad client app: This release of the application is compatible with older repositories and vice versa. User settings are also preserved during upgrades from a previous version. More description error messages are shown when logging on fails. Search results are now sorted alphabetically by the item name. This release is compatible with ios 7 & 8. ios 6 is no longer supported. The app ignores detail pages that have the Enable feedback functionality option enabled, which are meant for redlining and setting of change management properties in the Explorer client app for Windows. Users can attach new pictures and existing files to the comments for a document or asset if the Enable feedback comments option of the view is enabled. 3

6 3 RELEASE HISTORY This section summarizes the new features in each previous release. 3.1 Release 2014 The new features and improvements of Meridian Explorer include: Users may now collaborate on individual documents and object tags using text comments. Comments may have files attached to them and redlines saved within the context of the comment only. All comment activity is included in the audit log of the repository. Use of the is feature requires installation of a BC Meridian Enterprise Server (M--EPS) license. For SQL Server repositories only, exporting properties in the Retention property set for object tags to Excel could fail with the error Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'AS' and has been fixed. It is now possible to upload files to the Meridian Enterprise source vault of a repository. An Upload command can be shown on the Related Documents page in Meridian Explorer. This feature is intended for use when the system is integrated with a maintenance management system. A new URL parameter, web.config setting, and VBScript event procedures are provided to enable and customize the new functionality. For more information, see the BlueCielo Meridian Asset Management Module Administrator's Guide and the BlueCielo Meridian Asset Management Module User's Guide. The HTTPS protocol is now supported. If the Enable preview option is enabled for a view, the viewer can show the message No document selected after switching between the preview tabs. A Reload icon is now also shown that the user can click to reload the viewer and see the document. New VBScript functions AIMS_Properties, AIMS_Commands, and AIMS_ UpdateChangeManagement have been added that allow for customization of the behavior of detail pages for which the Enable feedback functionality has been enabled. For more information, see the BlueCielo Meridian Asset Management Module Administrator's Guide. New permissions Share Collections, Edit Comments of Others, Delete Comments, and Close Comments have been added to permission levels. Configuring the Is Part option of a reference type has been improved. A new option PDF viewer has been added to the user preferences. It can be used to toggle between the BlueCielo viewer and Adobe Reader as the default viewer for Adobe PDF documents. New parameters GLOBALID and COMMENTS are supported by the Meridian Explorer URL. They can be used to configure a custom external property page in Meridian Enterprise PowerUser to show the Meridian Explorer comments for a document. Private collections may now be shared as public collections. A graphical dashboard may now be viewed from the home page. The dashboard shows widgets that present data that is collected at the finish of a scheduled publishing job. New VBScript events AIMS_AddComment, AIMS_UpdateComment, AIMS_ DeleteComment, and AIMS_CloseComment have been added that allow for customization in Meridian Enterprise after comments have been modified in a Meridian Explorer discussion on a 4

7 Build document. The events can be disabled by a new application option Disable feedback comment events. For more information, see the BlueCielo Meridian Asset Management Module Administrator's Guide. A new application option Connect using app pool identity has been added. When enabled, the identity of the application pool under which Meridian Explorer runs is used to communicate with Meridian Enterprise for features like discussion comments and retrieving watermark property values. By default, the account of the current user is used. New options for specifying an AutoVue 3D Client/Server installation have been added to the viewer options of a repository. An option has also been added to specify the name of a user group that is allowed access to the server. These options require an AutoVue 3D Client/Server installation that is in addition to any existing AutoVue 2D Client/Server installation. This also requires that sufficient M--AV3 licenses be installed in the license server. Repository configurations may now be exported and imported similar to views, which are still exported and imported separately. Hyperlinks to other websites can be added to the Meridian Explorer client home page and to the Meridian Enterprise Server Administration Console page. New settings ServerDateFormat and ServerTimeFormat have been added to the language resource files. These settings can be used to specify how dates and times are shown in the results list and on property pages. Item filters and URL templates that are upgraded from a release 2012 repository are no longer surrounded in quotation marks, which return no results. The values that are passed with the DOCFILTER and TAGFILTER parameters in a filter URL are now also applied to the navigation view, property-based navigation, and advanced search dropdown lists. The search box on the Group Mappings page now works correctly. Property values that contain special characters (for example, > < & " ') are now shown correctly. When used with SQL Server and the FILESTREAM option was enabled, the file sizes of the copies of the documents in the repository could be incorrect, which could cause the viewer or the native application to fail to load the documents. The Enable preview option for views now works correctly. Internet Explorer is no longer a requirement to install Meridian Enterprise Server unless the server will also be a web server. Meridian Enterprise Server is now included in the Meridian Enterprise setup program. Now only one setup program is needed to install any combination of Meridian Enterprise, Meridian Explorer, or BlueCielo Publisher. The products should not all be installed on the same computer except for demonstration or development purposes. For detailed installation instructions, continue to refer to each product s Administrator s Guide. Due to the change, existing installations of Meridian Explorer and BlueCielo Publisher must be uninstalled before installing this release. The Compare command no longer appears on the shortcut menu in views where it cannot be used. The BCSyncUtil.exe background process now terminates after a configurable timeout period. 5

8 Multiple issues with thumbnail images failing to be generated have been fixed. When the Update display names option is was set in an Explorer synchronization job, the job could fail. This has been fixed. ipad users can now open views and their collections. The default page size has been increased from 10 to 50 items. Viewer settings on the Document property page were not saved correctly. The sizes of downloaded files was not correct and could cause the viewer to fail for some file types. The layout of the viewer on the property page was not correct if the user selected to have the detail view on the right of the screen. Loading of publishing jobs has been optimized. The Data Library synchronization job failed to set values for custom properties. Explorer synchronization jobs could fail with a timeout. Configuration and repository database file paths are now applied correctly for the different file groups in the database wizard. It is no longer necessary to set the Enable redline editing option of a view to use redlining in a feedback page. The feature is controlled by the Enable feedback functionality option on the page. Permission denied messages are no longer added to the event log when a user views the Document property page and does not have the List Project permission. Thumbnail generation performance has been improved. Tasks are now scheduled correctly when the date format of the language file (.xlsx) does not match the locale setting on the server. Meridian Enterprise Server now supports license reservations from Meridian Project Portal. Build patch It is now possible to type part of a keyword into search fields to filter the list of values. Disabling a navigation view did not work correctly. Generating hyperlinks to projects showed a random document name or failed if a document filter was active. The number of items shown per page was not the same as the configuration setting. Changing the display name of system properties did not work correctly. A Java error Missing Application-Name manifest attribute could occur when attempting to view documents with AutoVue and Java 7 Update 51 installed. An error (NULLREFERENCEEXCEPTION) Object reference not set to an instance of an object could occur when trying to hyperlink to a project when an object filter was active. 6

9 A user's saved searches and favorites are now stored with their other personal settings and can be cleared. 3.2 Release 2013 SP1 The new features and improvements of Meridian Explorer include: A new setting DisableImpersonationForBCM has been added to the WebConfigDto.dat file. This can be set to True to disable impersonation as the end user for security delegation when Meridian Enterprise and Meridian Enterprise Server are installed on different computers. This prevents the Kerberos double hop problem. New settings ServerDateFormat and ServerTimeFormat have been added to the language resource files. These settings can be used to specify how dates and times are shown in the results list and on property pages. When used with SQL Server and the FILESTREAM option was enabled, the file sizes of the copies of the documents in the repository could be incorrect, which could cause the viewer or the native application to fail to load the documents. Importing Active Directory groups into BlueCielo groups could cause an Invalid account name error in multiple domain environments. The default address of new messages is now blank. New permissions Download native document and Download rendition have been added to provide control over the downloading of files. Timeout errors could occur when executing Meridian Explorer synchronization jobs. The visibility and appearance of the viewer window has been improved under certain conditions when the Enable preview option is enabled. The default size of generated thumbnail images is now 300x200. A new option Enable search on object tag name has been added to view definitions. If enabled, this adds a Object Tag Name field to the default search form and to the advanced search form. This condition can be combined with other search criteria. 3.3 Release 2013 BlueCielo Meridian Explorer 2013 together with BlueCielo Publisher 2013 has been integrated into the new BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Server. Meridian Enterprise Server (not to be confused with the flagship product Meridian Enterprise) is a web-based service platform for BlueCielo products. Meridian Enterprise Server combines the features of BlueCielo Publisher and Meridian Explorer into a single, more scalable solution for technical documentation publishing and online delivery. BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Server 2013 (and higher) is a complete replacement for prior versions of BlueCielo Publisher and Meridian Explorer that has been completely redesigned and reprogrammed. This allows Meridian Enterprise Server to provide additional functionality over prior versions of those products. Although Meridian Enterprise Server has most of the same features as prior versions of BlueCielo Publisher and Meridian Explorer, the products are not compatible and Meridian Enterprise Server 2013 should not be considered as an in-place upgrade for those products. For Meridian Enterprise Server system requirements, installation, and upgrade instructions, see the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Server Administrator's Guide. For experienced administrators, a shorter BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Server Quick Start Guide is also available. 7

10 Meridian Enterprise Server provides a web-based administration console named Configurator for all BlueCielo Publisher and Meridian Explorer configuration. The BlueCielo Application Manager is no longer needed to configure Publisher and the prior configuration user interface of Meridian Explorer has been replaced. Many administrative tasks can be performed as background tasks so that the administrator can continue working and complete the tasks later. No client software installation is required to administer Meridian Enterprise Server. Everything can be done through the modern, fluid, web interface that dynamically reveals details, uses popup dialog boxes for most user input, and minimizes page refreshes and reloads. The style is flatter, simpler, and similar to Windows 8 and Windows Store apps. Like BlueCielo Publisher and Meridian Explorer before it, Meridian Enterprise Server stores all data in standard MS SQL Server or Oracle databases. This includes configuration settings (no more registry editing) and a complete audit log of all system activity. The major new features of Meridian Explorer in Meridian Enterprise Server include: Meridian Explorer security now uses BlueCielo groups and user accounts, not Windows groups. The users and their properties plus groups can be mapped, imported, and synchronized from MS Active Directory. Meridian Explorer security has been greatly enhanced with configurable security roles, permission levels, global permissions, multi-level item security based on property values, and separate permissions for projects. The Meridian Explorer client website has been freshened with a similar look and feel to Meridian Enterprise Server Configurator, with a new command ribbon and tabs for keeping multiple documents or projects open simultaneously. A version of the Meridian Explorer client website that has been optimized for the Apple ipad. Specific repository views can be enabled for mobile viewing. Relationships between object tags are now synchronized to Explorer, supported in searches, and are shown on the References tab. Collections may be created similar to Meridian Enterprise. Note The BlueCielo Meridian Explorer User's Guide mistakenly states that the collections can be shared. They cannot be shared. User searches and navigation method changes are now considered as the scope of a repository view and can be accumulated to iteratively refine the search results list. Comparing documents, revisions, and project copies is now supported. Batch draft printing is now supported by the AutoVue Client/Server viewer. Project folders can be synchronized from Meridian Enterprise. The improvements to existing features include: Support for MS SQL Server 2012 and Oracle 12c has been added. Support for MS SQL Server bit, MS SQL Server 2005 and earlier, and Oracle 11g Release 1 and earlier has been discontinued. For more information, see BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Supported Software for this version. Document URLs (hyperlinks) are now included in the metadata that is exported by the Export to Excel command. The minimum screen resolution for Explorer client PCs is reduced to 1024x768 pixels. 8

11 Hyperlinks may now be generated that open the items in a viewer window or download the item content. A new option makes the hyperlinks refer to the latest releases revisions of the items. Hyperlinks for a selection of items may now be sent in a single message with one click. During repository synchronization, property values can be calculated using simple expressions. The installation procedure for creating an ipad website on the Meridian Enterprise Server web server was excluded from the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Server Administrator's Guide in the Meridian Enterprise Server setup package. The correct procedure is in the following topic Creating an ipad website The Meridian Enterprise Server website provides an optimized experience for ipad users. The website requires forms style authentication and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), which is different than the authentication used for PC web browsers. Therefore, you must create a duplicate Meridian Enterprise Server website configured for and dedicated to the ipad users. Notes ipad users will each require a permanent BC Read-Only Explorer Client License as described in the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Server Administrator's Guide. You will need a certificate from a known certificate authority in order to configure SSL. To create an ipad website: 1. On the Meridian Enterprise Server webserver, in Windows Explorer, make a complete copy the Meridian Enterprise Server website folder (by default, C:\inetpub\wwwroot\BCEnterprise) to a new folder C:\inetpub\wwwroot\BCExplorerTouch. The folder name must be BCExplorerTouch. 2. In Internet Information Services Manager: a. Add a new application, specify the path to the copied folder, and select the same application pool as used by the BCEnterprise website. b. Disable Windows Authentication. c. Enable Anonymous Authentication and Forms Authentication. d. Bind HTTPS to the website with a valid SSL certificate. For more information, see the operating system documentation. 3. In the root of the ipad website, open the web.config file in any text editor and follow the instructions in the comments to change the authentication mode element from Windows (make a comment) to Forms (uncomment). 4. In Meridian Enterprise Server Configurator: a. Configure the forms authentication options as described in the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Server Administrator's Guide. b. Configure the forms authentication options for the appropriate groups (we recommend a dedicated group) or users as described in the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Server Administrator's Guide. 9

12 c. Select only one repository view for use by the ipad website as described in the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Server Administrator's Guide. d. Deploy the changed view as described in the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Server Administrator's Guide. 5. On the Meridian Enterprise Server web server, restart Internet Information Services or restart the application pool used by the website. A restart will also be required after any future view configuration changes. 3.4 Release 2012 SP5 build Build replaces build that was provided as Meridian Explorer 2012 SP5. New Meridian Explorer installations should not use build This build is provided as a full setup package. It is also provided as separate files for customers that prefer to patch their existing Meridian Explorer 2012 SP5 (build ) installation. To patch a Meridian Explorer 2012 SP5 installation: 1. Back up and replace the following files in the Meridian Explorer program folder (by default, C:\inetpub\wwwroot\ExplorerClient): Home.aspx bin\bluecieloecm.explorer.dll bin\bluecieloecm.dex.ice.dll Resources\Dutch.js 2. Add the following line to the appsettings section in web.config: <add key="useviewerfromhyperlink" value=""/> 3. Also install BlueCielo Publisher 2012 SP as described in the BlueCielo Publisher 2012 SP5 b Release Notes. This build improves upon BlueCielo Meridian Explorer 2012 SP5 by providing the following fixes: The Explorer client displayed document thumbnail images with an incorrect aspect ratio. Advanced search failed when using the Dutch language. The Update Thumbnails job ignored errors. When it failed to generate a thumbnail, it stored an empty image. A registry setting is now available to raise an error when no thumbnail is generated. This will cause the job to retry the thumbnail the next time the job runs. Add a DWORD value named IgnoreMissingThumbnails to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BlueCielo ECM Solutions\Application Manager\Settings\DexMeridian Set the value to 0 to raise an error on failure. The default is 1 (store an empty image on failure). Hyperlinks to documents can now open the document directly in the Explorer viewer by setting the UseViewerFromHyperlink setting described above to true. 3.5 Release 2012 SP5 The major new features of Meridian Explorer include: 10

13 Thumbnails are now synchronized correctly in Meridian Explorer when only renditions are copied to the repository. Keyword and property-based navigation drop-down lists now support more than 2000 unique values. An Internal Server Error could occur when opening Meridian Explorer on Windows Server 2012 with ASP.NET 4.0 installed. A new registry value UpdateProperties has been added to the following key that can be used to prevent the vault properties from being modified: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BlueCielo ECM Solutions\Application Manager\Settings\DexMeridian The shortcut menu could be hidden behind the viewer window. The viewer is now temporarily hidden when the shortcut menu is shown. When Meridian Explorer is opened with DOCFILTER or TAGFILTER parameters (from an asset management system, for example) the Home tab can now be clicked to open Meridian Explorer to the Home page in a new browser tab and a different view selected. A new registry value WriteBufferUnits value has been added to the following key that can be adjusted to prevent SQL Server timeout errors when synchronizing large documents. The number must be between 1 and 1240 (default). HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BlueCielo ECM Solutions\Application Manager\Configuration It is now possible to upload files to the Meridian Enterprise source vault of a repository. An Upload command can be shown on the Related Documents page in Meridian Explorer. This feature is intended for use when the system is integrated with a maintenance management system. Hyperlinks for a selection of items may now be sent in a single message with one click. 3.6 Release 2012 SP4 Customers with Explorer 2012 service pack 3 installed may upgrade to this release only if they are experiencing one of the issues that is resolved in this service pack. We recommend that all Explorer customers upgrade to BlueCielo Meridian Explorer 2012 service pack 4. No special upgrade steps are necessary. This service pack builds upon BlueCielo Meridian Explorer 2012 SP3 by adding the following improvements: When the viewer was not installed on a client PC, the download URL was not shown. This service pack is required for proper downloading of files and viewing redlines from Meridian Enterprise 2012 SP3. You must also install a patch for Meridian Enterprise 2012 SP3 11

14 (AMMInetObjects.dll) that is available in the BlueCielo knowledge base. The patch can be found in the article titled "Meridian Enterprise/TeamWork 2012 hotfixes." Support for migrating renditions generated by the Meridian FDA Module has been added. For details, contact BlueCielo Technical Support. The Meridian Explorer setup program required.net Framework 4.0 and would attempt to install an incorrect edition of.net Framework if it was not installed. Only.NET Framework 3.5 is required now. Internet Explorer would stop working when documents were viewed in AutoVue with Java 7 installed. Resizing and refreshing problems with property-based navigation have been corrected. Improvements have been made to exporting to Excel. Links on the Home page did not work without Internet Explorer Compatibility Mode enabled. If the repository was hosted in Oracle, search strings that contained reserved Oracle keywords returned incomplete results. Synchronization could fail for unreleased revisions of documents. When draft printing from AutoVue, the color, size, and title settings of watermarks were ignored. When a content search was performed, the row count that is shown was not correct. When performing an advanced search on keywords or memo content, the row count that is shown for lookup list values was incorrect. Security privileges for the Download command are now checked for documents that a user accesses from a URL. The Explorer user interface now supports the Dutch language. 3.7 Release 2012 SP3 The following are the new features that are provided since the previous release of the BlueCielo Meridian Explorer. Feedback property pages no longer require the Meridian Enterprise source vault to be published as a Web Access location. If the same property was used in both property navigation and advanced search, the lookup list was incomplete in some cases. Value cannot be null errors could appear in the repository synchronization log. Changing the letter case of folder names could cause synchronization to fail for Oracle repositories. The Export to Excel command now respects DOCFILTER or TAGFILTER parameters in the URL to support the Meridian Asset Management Module. AutoVue Client/Server deployment is supported. The columns shown on reference pages are now configurable and multiple reference pages can be defined. 12

15 The less than character (<) was not shown correctly on property pages. The viewer pane can now be disabled for specific repository views. A recognizable filename is now used when saving a document from Adobe Reader. A watermark can be configured when printing from AutoVue Client/Server. 3.8 Release 2012 SP2 The following are the new features that are provided since the previous release of the BlueCieloMeridian Explorer. AutoVue 20.2, which includes many viewing improvements, is provided in this release. If an existing AutoVue Client/Server installation will be used, it must be upgraded to version You can do this with the Meridian Enterprise 2012 SP1 installation packages. Watermarks defined in the Meridian Enterprise source vault did not appear in draft prints made from Explorer 2012 SP1. Redlines created in AutoVue by Explorer 2011a could not be deleted. Date/time conditions in filters were not stored correctly. With repositories hosted in Oracle, viewing the References tab for a document with many references could produce an error. Filter expressions based on a Boolean property were not saved correctly. The Contains operator was not supported by filters based on Keyword date type properties. With repositories hosted in Oracle, error ORA could occur and the Configurator could not be opened. Filter expressions on Boolean properties were not saved correctly. Some valid keywords were deleted during the rebuilding of content indexes. The length of time required to delete an empty folder in Oracle repositories has been reduced. Using AutoVue 3D Professional Advanced with Explorer now requires a license (M--AV3) for each concurrent user. The length of time required to load single selection style, property navigation views has been reduced. The viewer pane did not always reappear after a search was reset. The Download command is now not available on the shortcut menu of a content page if downloading is disabled for the active view. Full-text searches now support a limited set of special characters:,&*=>?\[]$! -{}()%~_; 3.9 Release 2012 SP1 The following are the new features that are provided since the previous release of the BlueCielo Meridian Explorer. 13

16 Server-based viewing by AutoVue is supported. Installation and configuration instructions can be found in the BlueCielo Meridian Explorer 2012 SP1 Administrator s Guide. The limitation on the number of custom properties has been removed. Some manual configuration is required. Property value lists in property-based navigation views are now collapsible. The following are improvements to existing features that have been made from the previous release of the BlueCielo Meridian Explorer. The error logging of the Explorer Client web application caused a serious drop in performance. Miscellaneous corrections in text for different languages. The Explorer Client may incorrectly display the file size of a rendition or a hybrid part where it should display the size of the main document. Column filtering on a date column does not work when the user s culture is set to German. The application now protects against concurrently editing the configuration by different users. In some Oracle installations, a data access error occurred on saving the configuration for a Publisher job. Adobe Reader is now used to view PDF renditions. The error handling for failed IFilter operations has been improved. Importing layouts into a different repository was not possible if the views used preconditions. This has been resolved by excluding preconditions during import. Auto-complete did not work for cascading look up lists in advanced searches. The active property page is remembered when selecting another document. A line feed character in a string property value causes refreshing the grid control to fail. The synchronization to Explorer failed on document revisions with an invalid modification date (due to incorrect importing). In the form-based advanced search, searching on "No value" worked incorrectly. A new server setting has been introduced to prevent users from viewing PDF files with Adobe Reader. The layout of the Configurator home page could be broken by long view names. Date-time values of imported documents were rounded to the second for Oracle repositories. The Draft Print command can be enabled or disabled per view Upgrading to BlueCielo Meridian Explorer 2012 SP1 To upgrade to BlueCielo Meridian Explorer 2012 SP1 from a previous release: 14

17 1. Create a validated backup of the configuration database and the repository databases. 2. In Control Panel, uninstall the previous version of BlueCielo [M] Explorer Client and BlueCielo Publisher. Optionally, uninstall BlueCielo [M] Explorer Feedback Page, if present 3. Install BlueCielo Publisher 2012 SP1 and BlueCielo [M] Explorer Client 2012 SP1. 4. Start the BlueCielo Application Manager. The Publisher jobs and Explorer repositories from the previous installation should still be visible. 5. Upgrade each repository database: a. Select the repository in the left pane. The repository's properties appear in the right pane. b. In the right pane, click Upgrade. The Upgrade Meridian Explorer Database wizard appears. c. Click Finish. The upgrade process begins and displays the results when complete. 6. Upgrade the client configuration: a. Open the Meridian Explorer client application. When you first open the Configurator, the application will upgrade the view configuration from the previously installed release. The views should be visible in the Configurator. Redeploy the configuration as described in the BlueCielo Meridian Explorer Administrator s Guide. If any errors occur, you are prompted to correct them before the configuration can be deployed. 7. Before running the repository synchronization job in the BlueCielo Application Manager, the property mappings must be updated. The Meridian Explorer 2012 properties now include folder properties and folder types. To synchronize Meridian Enterprise project folders to a Meridian Explorer repository as projects, enable the folder types in the mapping dialog. Otherwise, the folders will be synchronized as normal folders. The folder types are not mapped by default. The project folders will be created in the repository at the next synchronization only if a document or object tag in the folder requires synchronization. Therefore, you must force the synchronization of at least one document in each project folder. The upgrade is now complete Release 2012 The new features include: 15

Renditions and hybrid parts are included when synchronizing documents from BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise. Views can be configured to show only renditions. The Advanced Search page can be shown as an easier to use form. Detail pages and the viewer can be undocked from the browser window and moved and resized on the desktop. Property page types for content, maintenance feedback, related items, references, project copies, renditions, and the AutoVue Web Version viewer have been added to the configuration. Views for the client application can now be configured from within the web application itself by authorized users and deployed without resetting IIS. The BlueCielo Application Manager is now used only to create repositories, configure the repository data schema, administer synchronization jobs, and configure filters and full-text indexes. Draft printing of single documents or batches to a local printer is supported through the Meridian Enterprise Meridian Web Client ActiveX control. Support for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 FILESTREAM. Document content can be stored in the file system. This improves database engine performance. When a publishing job executes, it will detect new items that can be mapped to the repository that have been added to the vault configuration since the last time that the job ran. New document types, object tag types, folder types, and reference types will be automatically added to the repository configuration and mapped accordingly. New document and folder properties will stop the publishing job and show a warning that the property mappings must be updated to either include or exclude the new properties.
