XPe WFR3 builds will have 2 partitions. 2. XP User Interface style behavior - UI has been changed to XP Luna Style. a. Start button and Start menu are in XP Luna style (All users) b. My Computer, My Network Places links are present in Start Menu for Administrator and new user. c. For Default User User, My Computer & My Network Places links will not be present in Start Menu d. There will not be any pop up which says New Programs Installed upon clicking on start button after installing applications. This design is because of write filter. Otherwise every time after installing applications with write filter disabled condition Page 4 of 7

5 user has to click on start menu & then programs to get rid of this message which is not practical. e. Links for Citrix, RDP are present only in Start Menu and Desktops. They are not present In Start Menu Programs. This is to avoid multiple links appearing in the same page when we open start? All Programs in XP Luna Style. After switching to classic style these links will be only under Start Menu and Desktops. f. Number of programs recently used or most often will be 3 (All users) 3. FBWF User Interface changes a. FBWF cache threshold is changed from percentage of RAM to a value in MB between the range 16MB and 1024 MB. b. "Amount of RAM to be used for FBWF Cache" has been changed c. A new frame "Advanced Cache Settings" is added to allow the user to set Cache compression and Cache Pre-allocation. Compression and Pre-allocation are mutually exclusive but it is possible to un-select both. d. "Defaults" button - Earlier Defaults button used to set the percentage of RAM to 15, now the default Cache size is set as 64MB. Also cache is compressed by default. e. "OK" button - On pressing OK button, If settings in the Cache Limit and Warning Settings is changed, then a message is displayed to inform the user that changes will get into effect after a reboot. If no settings have been changed, then the message-box is not displayed. 4. Local AppData & Portable devices are redirection to C: a. Default condition of RDP cache - Bitmap Cache disabled b. New users: Follow the mentioned steps: 1. Disable write filter and add new user. 2. Include the new user added in the NetXClean.ini, under profiles section 3. Restart the NetXClean service. 4. Login to the new user account and then log off. 5. Enable write filter. 6. Include the following paths under exclusion. (Required if certificates are used) C:\Documents and Settings\<user profile>\application Data\Microsoft\Crypto\* C:\Documents and Settings\<user profile>\application Data\Microsoft\Protect\* C:\Documents and Settings\<user profile>\application Data\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\* (<user profile> has to be replaced with the name of the user profile where the SSID has to be preserved) 7. Reboot the client. LIMITATIONS: 1. SSID preservation will work for users with administrator privileges only. 2. For external wireless adapters, the adapter has to be plugged-in, first in write filter disable condition and then enabled. The SSID preservation will work only for the port where the external adapter is plugged in, when write filter was disabled. Even if the adapter is plugged out and plugged in to the same port, the SSID is preserved. However, if the adapter is plugged in to a new port, the SSID preservation will not work. For any new port the adapter is plugged into, it has to be again plugged in with write filter disabled. 3. Make sure that you are connected to the SSID you have configured, when you log off / shutdown / restart for the first time after configuring a SSID. 4. Wireless Credentials are not preserved across reboot with FBWF enabled condition for 5. PEAP Authentication. Hence you have to re-enter the credentials in PEAP authentication 6. Wireless: Initialization of wireless is getting delayed at the startup. Page 6 of 7

7 Existing Issues: From WDM server, if a pulled image is pushed to another unit, after restarting the client you will get "System Settings change" message. Even after clicking on Yes button & restart, same message reappears. To get rid of this message, disable write filter, then you have to click on Yes on the above message & enable the write filter. Intermittent Issues 1. During booting at Windows XP logo screen client takes longer time to proceed. 2. Write filter will be in disabled condition after discovery from the WDM server. Same problem appears if you delete the client & rediscover it. You have to manually enable the write filter. 3. When pull task is given from the WDM server, there is a delay in getting the "update now" message at the client side Note: Other open issues related to earlier builds of XPe, are also valid for this build.
