Setup for World Missions Touchscreen 11/18/15, 10:20 AM Installing the World Missions Touchscreen Sponsored by Assemblies of God World Missions Setting Up the World Missions Touchscreen: 1. Set up your computer (computer.html) for touch monitor operation. 2. Set up your browser (browser.html) for full screen operation. 3. Since this program requires the use of Cookies (small files we put in your browser memory) you will need to be sure they are turned on. Test your browser's cookie function: Test Cookie Function (cookies.php) 4. You will be taken through a sign-up procedure. Preview and choose a selection of Touchscreen programs. Keep the information provided in the we send to you. It contains helpful links and information about your account. Set up your browser to use the Touchscreen. 5. Test the touchscreen operation for a few weeks, (if you have time), to make sure it is working correctly. 6. Make the Touchscreen available for public use. When you are ready to go live after having demonstrated the program for yourself during a test phase, you will have already selected and installed the appropriate touch monitor, and are working with the Chrome browser set to full screen operation. To begin the final setup procedure, click the button below: 1. Preview the different Touchscreen programs. 2. Select the touchscreen programs you wish to see in your final display, and enter your Page 1 of 2

Touchscreen Computer Setup 11/18/15, 10:22 AM Instructions for Setting Up the System You may use any computer connected to the internet with the following setup. Operating System and Computer: 1. Any modern operating system such as Windows 7, 8.x, or 10 is suitable for the World Missions Touchscreen. 2. Any computer that can support these operating systems should be appropriate, though a slower system will reduce the user experience. 3. The connection to the internet must be at least 3-5 Mb per second. This can be wireless or wired. 4. Any minimal anti-virus program and firewall will suffice to protect your Windows computer. The AGWM.COM website is a trusted environment. Do not incorporate any full suite of internet safety tools since they will rob your system of its vitality. 5. Do not use Windows XP except if you wish to preview the Touchscreen. Windows XP is still vulnerable to attack and Microsoft no longer supports it. Touch Monitor: 1. There is no recommended screen size, though we think you'll enjoy a monitor that is 19" diagonal or larger. 2. There is no recommended screen resolution, though we think you'll enjoy a widescreen monitor (16:9 aspect ratio) more than a standard screen (4:3 aspect ratio). Though a small monitor will work, resolutions lower than 1280 pixels wide may prove to be too small for some functions. 3. Before you purchase a touchscreen monitor, you should sample the Touchscreen programs in the setup page on your proposed size of monitor. Though all the Touchscreen programs will run fine at standard and widescreen sizes, videos will display better in the widescreen sizes. 4. Recommended Widescreen Resolutions (~16:9): At least 1280px X 720px to 1920px X 1080px Optimum 1366px X 768px, 1440px X 900px, or 1280px X 720px if one of these resolutions is available on the monitor. Page 1 of 2
Touchscreen Computer Setup 11/18/15, 10:22 AM Keep in mind that each touch monitor has an optimum resolution. It may be best to select a monitor whose resolution is the best for displaying these programs. 5. Recommended Standard Resolutions (~4:3): From 1024px x 768px to 1600px x 1200px optimum 1280px x 1024px Keep in mind that each touch monitor has an optimum resolution. It may be best to select a monitor whose resolution is the best for displaying these programs. 6. If your touchmonitor does not support the above-listed resolutions, it is more important that the width is at least 1024 pixels and the height is at least 720 pixels. 7. You may run the Touchscreen on any monitor without entering full-screen mode, though when the program becomes public, it should never run outside of full-screen mode. 8. When the system is run for public use the keyboard and mouse will be hidden to prevent accessing the internet outside this touchscreen program. Touch Monitor Brands: We have happily used and recommend ELO Touch Monitors ( Even though they are moderately priced, they come with a great warranty, and good service. However, there are many computers that already come with touch monitors and a detached keyboard. You might find one of these attractive. Hewlett Packard ( supplies reliable all-in-one systems that might be suitable for you. Look for Desktop Computers with Touchscreen Monitors. Return to the Setup page (setup.html) and continue with instruction 2: Page 2 of 2
Touchscreen Browser Setup 11/18/15, 10:28 AM Installing the World Missions Touchscreen The new World Missions Touchscreen is available for all those who have access to the internet. The address is ( There are no special tools required besides using the appropriate browser Feel free to use the Touchscreen for private viewing, but if you wish to use it in a public space, you must take some steps to prevent browsing to any other site. In addition, the public kiosk must have a touch monitor, with the keyboard and mouse hidden from the public to be used only for maintenance. I am assuming that you have installed the latest updates for any of the available software including the system. The Touchscreen program and web site have not been tested in the Windows Vista environment. But there is no reason it should not work there with the Chrome browser and modified shortcut. The Google Chrome browser The Google Chrome browser is the only browser available today that can provide a secure full-screen browsing experience. All other browsers can easily be subverted to private use with a few gestures. Using a browser as a public kiosk carries some risks. The main issue is that a user may find a way to leave the open browser window and subvert the use of the internet to their own purposes. Google Chrome requires a modified shortcut, see instructions below. Private Browsing: Any browser can access and use the World Missions Touchscreen except for ios devices and some tablets. One program in the Touchscreen requires Adobe Flash which doesn't operate on ios devices. Page 1 of 3
Touchscreen Browser Setup 11/18/15, 10:28 AM Chrome comes with Flash and automatically updates it. But if you wish to preview the Touchscreen in another browser, you must have Flash installed for that other browser. Get Flash ( (During installation, choose to have Flash update itself.) Public Browsing: Google Chrome on Windows 7, 8.x, and 10. The Google Chrome browser is the only current browser that works satisfactorily. It is the most secure at this point and the only suitable option. Get Chrome ( Modify Google Chrome to operate in kiosk mode: (I m assuming Chrome is already installed. If not, go to ( and install it.) 1. If you already have Chrome installed, make sure you have the most recent version. 2. Create a copy of the Google Chrome shortcut on the desktop and rename it so that you know it is the kiosk mode shortcut. (I have encountered some weird issues doing this. Sometimes the shortcuts are not duplicated correctly. Just copy and paste the shortcut to the desktop and check if it works before proceeding. Try again if it fails.) 3. Edit the shortcut. a. Right Click the new shortcut (get the contextual menu); click the Properties menu item at the bottom. Edit the Target property as follows: b. In Win 7, Win 8.x & Win 10 edit: [ "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" ] so that it reads [ "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" -kiosk ]. c. Feel free to copy the following text and paste it at the end of the current link (don't forget the space before the word [ -kiosk ]). The shortcut won't work without it. [ -kiosk ] Page 2 of 3
Touchscreen Browser Setup 11/18/15, 10:28 AM 4. Click OK at the bottom of the Properties dialog. NOTE: Once in the kiosk mode you can escape it by pressing the [ Alt & F4 ] keys or [ Ctrl & w ] keys at the same time. This is why the browser can be used in public. There is no way to access menus or the taskbar without the keyboard which will be hidden, used only when you administer the Touchscreen. Return to the Setup page (setup.html) and continue with instruction 3. Page 3 of 3
Cookie Test for World Missions Touchscreen 11/18/15, 10:11 AM Welcome to the World Missions Touchscreen You have passed the cookie test. Cookies are set to be received in your browser. You are ready to go. Return to the Setup page (setup.html) and continue with instruction 4. Page 1 of 1
Cookies are not set in your browser. Cookies are set to be received by default. But sometimes security software turns them off. Since nobody will be browsing outside the Touchscreen, this should not be a concern. Follow the directions below for setting up Cookies on your browser. Find Cookie Settings: Cookies are usually found in the Privacy or Security section of Settings or Preferences. Firefox, Chrome, and Opera are nearly alike for Macs and Windows. Google Chrome: Windows: Settings: Show Advanced Settings: Privacy: Content settings Mac: Preferences: Show Advanced Settings: Privacy: Content settings Change the settings to Allow local data to be set (recommended) Firefox: Windows: Options: Privacy: History: Use custom settings for history. Mac: Preferences: Privacy: History: Use custom settings for history. Change the settings to Accept cookies from sites. and Keep until: they expire. Opera: Windows: Settings: Privacy & security Mac: Preferences: Privacy & security Change the settings to Allow local data to be set (recommended)
Safari: Mac: Safari: Preferences: Privacy Change the settings to Allow from websites I visit Internet Explorer 9 and above: Tools: Internet Options: Privacy: Advanced Internet Explorer should accept cookies by default, but if it doesn't, then set it to Overide automatic cookie handling, Accept First-party Cookies, and Always allow session cookies Once you have corrected the settings in your browser, Click the button below to *Reset the Cookie. Click on the link again in number 3 to test the browser's cookie function. Click Here to try and reset the Cookie *Your Browser will actually try to set the cookie again after you have corrected the settings. If it fails again, get some local technical help before trying again.
