Chapter 2. Using Dashboard Application Services Hub About the console Dashboard Application Services Hub provides a single console for administering IBM products and related applications. You can do different tasks in the console to suit your dashboarding needs. Getting started You can log in to the console by using one of the supported browsers. The console has different accessibility features for vision-impaired, mobility impairments, and deaf and hard of hearing users. Understand the different elements of the user interface, including features accessible from the Welcome, About, and Show Tab pages. You can also change your password. Restriction: A Full Console link is available when accessing the Dashboard Application Services Hub console on a mobile device. Not all console content is compatible with mobile devices. Full console mode on mobile devices is supported only for basic console navigation. For example, you can use full console mode to access a particular page that is not available through a mobile view, but it does not guarantee that the particular page will function correctly. Functions beyond navigation, for example page or widget creation, are not supported on mobile devices using full console mode. Personalizing the console You can use different features of the console to personalize your experience. You can configure your default views and add commonly used navigation items to your favorites list. You can edit dashboards and layout, including widgets that depend on your access level. Learn how to log in to the console, its accessibility, layout, and support features. Logging into the console Follow these steps to access the console. 1. Point your web browser to the URL of the server where the console is installed and running, appending the context root for the console, to the address. The default context root is /ibm/console, but it may be configured differently for your console, so if you are in doubt, check with your administrator. For example, if the console is installed to a server on using a secure port of and with the default context root, enter this address in the browser: The login page for the console is displayed. 2. Enter your User ID and Password and click Log in. When you are finished, the Welcome page is displayed. In the Welcome page, you can take a tour of Dashboard Application Services Hub and quickly learn what has changed for this release. To subsequently access the Welcome page, click > Welcome. 14 To prevent unauthorized access, be sure to use the > Logout link in the navigation bar when you are finished using the console. If there is no activity during this login session for an extended period of time, the session expires and you must log in again to access the console. To update the session expiration, see Changing the console session expiration. Note: If your console session expires, you may have to log in twice to start a new session. Depending on the operating system on which Dashboard Application Services Hub is installed, there are certain restrictions on which characters can be used for user IDs and passwords. Multiple users can concurrently log in to the console using the same user account details providing the users log in to the console in discrete browser sessions. This behavior is not enabled by default and must be enabled by an administrator. Note: When two users concurrently log in with the same user ID and they both launch the IBM WebSphere Application Server administrative console, the last user to launch the administrative console gains control. All other WebSphere Application Server administrative console sessions for that user ID are automatically invalidated. Dashboard Application Services Hub sessions for other users with the same user ID remain unaffected. Supported web browsers The following web browsers are supported for use with the Dashboard Application Services Hub in desktop or mobile mode (unless stated otherwise): v Microsoft Internet Explorer, V9.0 v Microsoft Internet Explorer, V8.0 v Mozilla Firefox, V17 ESR v Safari, V6.0 (Mobile devices not supported) The following mobile device operating systems are supported: v ios 5.x for ipad and iphone v Android 4.0.x (tablet devices only) JavaScript must be enabled in the browser. A minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels is recommended. Note: The browser back button is not reliable for navigating the console and is not supported. Use the navigation controls and links in the console as an alternative. Supported languages 4 Jazz for Service Management: User s Guide The console text has been translated into the following languages. v Arabic (ar) v Brazilian Portuguese (pt-br) v Czech (cs) v Croatian (hr) v Dutch (nl) v English (en) v French (fr)

v v v v v v v v v v v v German (de) Hungarian (hu) Italian (it) Japanese (ja) Korean (ko) Polish (pl) Russian (ru) Slovenian (sl) Swedish (sv) Simplified Chinese (zh-cn) Spanish (es) Traditional Chinese (zh-tw) The language that is displayed when you access the console is always the first language in your browser's language settings that matches one of these console translations. If none of your language preferences match one of the console translations, then the default is displayed, which is English (en). Individual components, such as widgets or dashboards, might provide additional translations that are displayed according to your browser's language settings. In this case, you could see a combination of languages displayed in the console. The console also supports bidirectional languages, such as Arabic or Hebrew, which are displayed and read from right to left. If your browser's first language preference is set to a bidirectional language, elements in the console are arranged in right-to-left orientation and the text is right-aligned, even though the displayed text might not be bidirectional. Console layout The layout of the console user interface has these major elements. Chapter 2. Using Dashboard Application Services Hub 5

Figure 1. Console layout 6 Jazz for Service Management: User s Guide 1 Navigation bar At the top of the navigation section, use the Search to quickly find particular tasks. Search results are dynamically returned and filtered as you type. A Favorites icon provides access to any day-to-day tasks that you may add to favorites. The rest of this area displays a set of navigation icons used for accessing product-specific content. The icons shown in the navigation pane are only those to which you have access. 2 Configuration area In this area, icons are provided for user functions, view selection, and console configuration, as follows: v The User icon is used for logging out and changing your password. v v The Views icon is used to change views. Views dictate which product tasks, dashboards or pages, are displayed and which pages or dashboards open automatically. The Configuration icon is used to access console administration and user management functions. v The Help icon provides access to help contents for the console and any installed products and to find details of the console version, as well as details for installed products. You can also access the Dashboard Application Services Hub community through the Help icon, where you will find multimedia tutorials and information about upcoming releases. 3 Top bar Displays tabs to move between open pages or dashboards. The top bar allows you to work on different dashboards without closing a dashboard or losing unsaved data. Then you can complete the form on Dashboard A without losing any unsaved data that you may have

already entered. Multiple dashboards can be opened at one time, but only one of the dashboard or pages has focus (current page). If a large number of dashboards are open, you can use the list arrow on the right of the top bar to show a list of the open dashboards. Depending on your role, the top bar may also contains a number of additional administration icons for editing the current dashboard or creating new ones. 4 Content area Displays the current dashboard that you are working on. The dashboard, contains one or more Web applications or widgets. Pages that contain multiple related widgets are generally called dashboards and invariably include a number of integrated widgets. Welcome and About pages The Welcome page provides access to a tour of Dashboard Application Services Hub and it new features. The About page provides version details. The Welcome page also provides access to customization tasks. To access the Welcome page, click > Welcome. The About page displays the products that are installed that use the console for administrative tasks. To access the About page, click > About. When two or more products are deployed to the console, the About page appears by default when you log in to the console. When a single product or solution is deployed to the console, that product's About page automatically is displayed after logging in. Show Tab List Use Show Tab List to close or navigate to open dashboards. Using Show Tab List This module supports the similar tasks that can be performed in the console top bar. v Close all dashboards or pages. v Navigate to a dashboard. Delete Select this setting to remove the widget from the dashboard. Results Any changes you make affects content only in relation to your user ID. Setting text and component direction Some widgets allow you to customize whether its components and text are displayed left-to-right or right-to-left. About this task Any changes you make affects the widget content only in relation to your user ID. 18 Jazz for Service Management: User s Guide

Procedure 1. Open the dashboard that contains the widget that you want to personalize. 2. In the widget title bar, click the Personalize icon to display a panel that allows you to customize its settings. 3. Edit the settings as required. For example, for both content and text, the Default option lets the display direction be determined at dashboard, or page, level. You can choose to set the text and content direction to either left-to-right or right-to-left. In the Text direction list, you can also select Contextual Input so that for widgets that include text entry fields, the direction of text is dependent on the language used to enter data. Note: Display direction settings that you set at this level (user level), override any other settings that may have been set at widget, dashboard, console, or browser levels. 4. Submit your changes and in the title bar of the personalize settings widget, click Back to return to the dashboard that hosts the widget and review your changes. Your changes are applied and only affect your interaction with this particular widget. Personalizing a web widget Depending on the settings applied by your administrator, you can personalize a web widget's title, home page, help page, and layout. Administrators can set shared settings to provide a common experience for users of a web widget. Before you begin The dashboard containing the web widget must be in edit mode before you can customize it. When you create a new dashboard, it is automatically in edit mode. For an existing dashboard, to enter edit mode, click and select Edit Page. About this task If your administrator has not configured shared settings for the web widget, you can enter a complete web address in the field provided and browse the web. To set a default web page for the widget and to further personalize your experience of a web widget, complete the following steps: Procedure 1. In the title bar, depending on your access privileges, click the icon and select Personalize. A settings page is displayed, where depending on shared settings applied by your administrator, you can personalize the web widget's title, home page, help page, and layout. 2. Optional: In the Widget title field provide a brief descriptive name. When selecting a title, consider the purpose of the web widget, its home page, and that the title is used in the navigation pane to access the widget. 3. Optional: In the Home page field provide a valid web address. This the web address of the page that displays by default when a user accesses the widget from the navigation pane. Chapter 2. Using Dashboard Application Services Hub 19

Note: The web widget supports substitution variables in the Home page URL field. That is, you can specify a URL that includes variables that are populated when the web widget receives an event that provides values for the specified variables. Global variables are also permissible, for example, TIP_THEME. Ifan appropriate value is not provided for a variable, then the URL is resolved without that element of the URL. The following examples provide details on how variables are substituted: v Example 1 - Global variable substitution - value exists for the specified global variable Specified URL in the Home page URL field: Resolved URL with the IBM OneUI theme active: Resolved URL with the dark console theme active: /apm/index.html?theme=%%tip_theme%% /apm/index.html?theme=oneui /apm/index.html?theme=tipdark v Example 2 - Global variable substitution - value does not exist for the specified global variable Specified URL in the Home page URL field: Resolved URL: Note: In this example, the specified global variable (%time%) does not exist so the resolved URL does not include a value for the variable. /apm/index.html?time=%%time%% /apm/index.html?time= v Example 3 - Event driven variable substitution, where the event includes appropriate values for the specified variables Specified URL in the Home page URL field that includes the following variables: /apm?start=%%start%%&system_name= %%system_name%% %%start%% and %%system_name%% Resolved URL where the event data includes the following information: /apm?start=0&system_name=hulk:primary:nt { name: "NodeClickedOn", payload: { start: 0, system_name: "HULK:Primary:NT" } v 20 Jazz for Service Management: User s Guide

Example 4-Variable substitution that includes an event value and a global value Specified URL: /apm?theme=%%tip_theme%%&start=%%start%% Variables: %%TIP_THEME%% (which is an appropriate global variable) and %%start%% Resolved URL where the event data includes the following information, assuming that IBM One UI theme is active: /apm?theme=oneui&start=0 { name: "NodeClickedOn", payload: { start: 0}} v Example 5 - Event driven variable substitution, where the received event includes a displayurl element Specified URL in the Home page URL field: Resolved URL: Any URL The URL specified in the displayurl element replaces the specified the Home page URL field. If the new URL includes variables, they are resolved as per the examples provided here. 4. Optional: In the Help page field, provide a relative or absolute URL to a custom help page HTML topic to replace the default help topic that is associated with the web widget. 5. Optional: Check the Show a browser control toolbar to include a web navigation toolbar, that is, standard web navigation buttons and web address entry field. 6. Click Save to commit your changes, or Restore Default Settings to reset the form. Results Any changes you make affects content only in relation to your user ID. Chapter 2.
