SOFTWARE LICENSE The ECCAIRS Reporting System is being distributed by JRC to competent authorities (Civil Aviation Authorities, Accident Investigation Bureaus and Air Navigation Service Providers) of EU Member States, Iceland, Norway and Switzerland who are entitled to use the software for implementing EU Directive 2003/42/EC on Occurrence Reporting in Civil Aviation. An ECCAIRS National Point of Contact (see Directive 2003/42/EC) can provide the ECCAIRS Reporting System to operators and service providers under specific conditions: A National Point of Contact shall provide the software only to operators and service providers placed under their responsibility. Usage shall be limited to those situations where it will enable a more efficient circulation of occurrences information between reporting bodies and national regulators/investigators in the scope of Directive 2003/42/EC on Occurrence Reporting in Civil Aviation. In accordance with the rules governing the dissemination of information related to occurrence reporting, these operators and service providers will not be allowed to have direct access to the central repository of ECCAIRS. Each National Point of Contact shall ensure the necessary technical support to operators and service providers to which the software has been provided. Each National Point of Contact shall inform the Commission on operators and service providers to which the ECCAIRS software is given. National Points of Contact are not allowed to make a charge for distributing this Software to operators and service providers. Non-EU authorities and non-profit international organisations involved in aviation safety should contact JRC if they are interested in using the ECCAIRS Reporting System. 3 RELEASE SUMMARY Product Introduction Released in May 2017, the ECCAIRS 5 Common Framework version patch modifies version , made available in December This patch can also be applied on release which is an older patch for release Release strategy The JRC makes this patch available on the ECCAIRS portal. ECF Release This document refers to release of the ECCAIRS Common Framework. The version can be identified, after applying the patch, by launching the Browser, logging on to a repository and clicking on the Help>About menu. Please read these release notes completely before starting to work on your systems. These release notes have been printed in May

4 INSTALLATION Prerequisites This patch should be applied only on systems that have ECCAIRS (server or client) or ECCAIRS (patch) installed. On previous versions of the ECF the patch cannot be deployed and the user will be warned accordingly. The distribution file To deploy the patch first execute the self-extracting distributable E5ECFDistributionPatch ( ).exe. This will create a folder on your workstation with the following files: E5ECFSetupV55111HF.exe (setup executable for installing the ECF patch) ECCAIRS ECF What is new pdf E5ECFReleasenotesV55111HF.pdf (the notes you are now reading) ECCAIRS Merge Tool Configuration Manual - WP.pdf (White Paper describing the updated Merge functionality. The installation process Before running the setup application, read carefully these release notes. Installation of this patch should be done by qualified IT staff. We recommended running the patch setup in As Administrator mode. Note that you should patch all systems in your ECCAIRS environment, both server and client systems. When you patch a client system: 1. Check nobody is using the ECCAIRS software on the client system. 2. To start the setup, run the file E5ECFSetupV55111HF.exe 3. We recommend rebooting the client system after deploying the patch. When you patch the server: 1. Check that nobody is connected to the repository on this server 2. Note down which ECCAIRS related services (if any) have been set to automatic (delayed) starting. 3. Stop all ECCAIRS Services that are running on the server system 4. To start the setup, run the file E5ECFSetupV55111HF.exe 5. Set all ECCAIRS related services to their starting behaviour as before (see point 2). The automatic starting settings might be reset to manual by installing the patch. 6. We recommend rebooting the server machine before and after deploying the patch. The indicative time required to install a Patch on a client system is less than 5 minutes. For the server environment, the indicative time is 10 minutes excluding the time required to disconnect users and reboot the server twice (as recommended). 5 SPECIFIC ISSUES Known problems On the ECCAIRS portal open and still to be implemented problem reports can be found by appropriately filtering the list of Reporting System V5 related problem reports that are still open or to be implemented. Compatibility In release 5.5.x.x the Merging function has been improved. As a consequence: The user interface for the merge function has changed. The Merge Profile, and the structure of the XML file in the Merge profile, have been modified in order to allow for a higher level of customisation. Older versions of ECCAIRS (ECF 5.4.x.x and before) do not support the new Merge profile. Newer versions of the software (ECF and beyond) do not support the old Merge Profile distributed with the Aviation Extension A White Paper for the merging is made available on the portal. Also a new Merge Profile for aviation is made available. These release notes have been printed in May

Conditional View: now the message to confirm the configuration overwriting has been moved after showing the form to choose the configuration to be copied Conditional View: when the never option is selected all the child nodes are removed Custom Controls: improvement of the custom controls management in the Viewer Data Bridge Add-In: fixed issue that led to a freeze in viewer mode in the Browser. Data Bridge: fixed issue with additional text attributes when encoding type was not specified. Data Manager: fixed crash that occurred at a second run of a loader from folder, if folder contents were changed. Data Manager: fixed error when generating a new file with the Batchelor, which caused attachments to be lost. Data Manager: fixed issues that prevented e5x and pdf files to be loaded from folder if their extension was in capital letters. Data Quality Add-In: improved logging when two or more processors are executed. Dictionary: fixed crash that occurred in Taxonomy Browser when moving the splitter bar between the list of values and the detailed information pane. Dictionary: fixed issue with Coded and Additional Text multi-values attributes. Duplicate Occurrence: improved graphical appearance ECCAIRS Health: improved filtering of items. ECCAIRS Health: items that previously were not sorted alphabetically now are sorted. These release notes have been printed in May

7 ECCAIRS Settings: minor improvements in the layout Image Control: fixed issue with carousel mode, which made filename and link not work if the only present file was not an image. KML Add-In: fixed issue with Google Maps Add-In display in Windows mode. Login: fixed issues concerning importing twice the same repository link Merge: improved legend and user interface. Merge: now the Merge functionality informs the user if an old, noncompatible profile is configured for the role. Merge: fixed a crash clicking on the Rule definition Merge: fixed a crash which occurred with non-matching entities. Occurrence: fixed error that could occur when merging occurrences with custom attributes. Occurrence: fixed issue that prevented the conversion from E5F to E5X with a Data Bridge profile referring to a previous version of the taxonomy. Query: fixed issue with indexing of custom attributes. Repository Manager: fixed error in creating a proxy repository Repository Manager: the selected query library is maintained after clicking on the Load from Query Library button Security: fixed issues with Occurrence conditions of type Allowed Except when and Allowed If at least. Web Fixed issue that caused authentication data to be displayed on a blank page. Web Fixed issue that prevented Windows Authentication in Web. Web Fixed issue which prevented combo-box values to be correctly selected in Chrome (due to a Google Chrome update) Web Configuration Manager Fixed issue that prevented, with Custom as UserProfiles folder choice, to close the window if no path was provided. Web Configuration Manager: fixed issue with Oracle that prevented the connection test to work properly. Web Configuration Manager: fixed issues with Websites not listed except E5Web. Web/Client: solved a lock issue which could lead to complete deadlock in the Web Environment. WebUtilities: fixed issues that prevented the correct usage of WebDAS with the HTTPS protocol.
