1 Workforce Central 6.3 Server Requirement Guidelines for Budget Planning The Kronos Workforce Central suite is the most comprehensive workforce management solution available from a single source. It includes a core of best-in-class web-based applications that help organizations hire the best people and manage them most effectively. When combined with our intuitive self-service applications, the Workforce Central suite delivers value to the entire workforce at all levels of the organization. Kronos recognizes the need for planning and through this document we provide hardware guidelines for budgetary purpose. These guidelines are for new or existing customers looking to implement Workforce Central 6.3with the following characteristics: Customers with 10,000 employees or less who are running Kronos bundled JBoss application server on Windows Systems with SQL Server database. These budgetary estimates are based on general use case assumptions (Listed below) and benchmark testing results from our labs. If you are under 5000 employees you may use this sizing to purchase your hardware. If you are 5000 employees and above, we recommend that you only use this for server estimates and a Kronos service consultant will work with you to analyze your specific use case and make recommendation for purchasing hardware based on the preimplementation workshop. Note: This is not applicable for customers wishing to implement: Workforce Activities, Workforce Analytics, Workforce Forecast Manager, Workforce Operations Planner, and Workforce Record Manager. Clients that have these exceptions should contact their Kronos representative for a more detailed hardware recommendation. Note: For customers looking to implement Workforce Analytics, please refer to the Workforce Analytics 6.3 Requirement Guidelines for Budget Planning. Hardware Server Specifications Intel system with Xeon processor(s) 2.4 GHz E5620 XEON processors RAM: 8 GB m i n i m u m p e r s e rv e r 6 4 B i t ( 1 6 G B M i n i m u m wi t h 2 o r m o r e t) To help manage the cost of the server(s) we are listing the minimum number of cores required and allowing you to decide which processor combination is most cost effective with a minimum of 2 processors when over 4 cores. WFC 6.3 systems with 5,000+ employees are required to use 64 bit operating systems, software, and hardware as well as it is recommended that all clients use the 64 bit server OS as it provides additional resources that can make your system more efficient. Use Case Assumptions: Employee-to-manager ratio = 10:1 Less than 1/3 using staffing widget Clock-to-employee ratio = 1:100 Process Manager: up to five standard templates 5 reports per manager average Model Kronos 4500 TM badge terminals Model 4500 terminals require a minimum firmware version of 2.1 (02.01.xx) 3 hour pay period close window The Application Server is being used as a report server

2 VMware Support: Workforce Central 6.3 supports VMware ESX Server versions 4.x, vsphere v4.x and 5.x. The following are guidelines to implement WFC 6.3 on VMware environments. Kronos interprets one core to equal one vcpu. Each application server VM instance implemented must have a minimum of: 64 Bit OS 2 vcpus and 16GB minimum, 4 v and 16GB recommended Hyper-V Support: Workforce Central 6.3 supports Hyper-V Server Virtualization technology. The following are guidelines to implement WFC 6.3 on Hyper-V environments. Kronos supports Hyper-V with Windows 2008 Server R2 as the Host operating system. Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2008 are the only supported Guest operating systems. Kronos interprets one Host core to equal one vcpu. Each application server Hyper-V instance implemented must have a minimum 64 Bit OS 2 vcpus and 16GB minimum, 4 v and 16GB recommended Workforce Central 6.3 provides support for VMware and Hyper-V except Workforce Analytics and Workforce TeleTime, as follows: Up to 5,000 Employees All Workforce Central modules can run on one Virtual Machine including the database up to 3,000 employees. This is the equivalent of a single server. The database tier is supported on its own VMware instance up to 5,000 employees. Over 5,000 Employees All servers required for Workforce Central can run on one or more Virtual Machines. The RDBMS must run on a physical server. Note: Customers desiring to implement Kronos application server instances on existing VM hosts that do not meet these specifications are not eligible to utilize these Budgetary Sizing Guidelines and must obtain a separate evaluation and sizing.
