Chapter 2: About RES ONE Workspace 2.1 Workspace components RES ONE Workspace consists of six major components: Management Console Management Portal Datastore Relay Server (optional) Agent Workspace Composer Management Console The Management Console is the central point of administration of the User Workspace. It is usually run from an administrator's workstation. The Management Console stores all the configuration data in the Datastore. Management Portal The Management Portal will be the new location for administration of the User Workspace. It is a web-based application that works alongside the Management Console. Currently, you can access Workspace Analysis, the Audit Trail, Security section, and RES Reporting from the Management Portal. Datastore The Datastore is the central database for your RES ONE Workspace environment. It contains all configuration settings of User Workspaces. All computers in your RES ONE Workspace environment connect to the Datastore directly or via a Relay Server. The Datastore is stored on a central database server that was installed prior to installing the Management Console. You can create a Datastore that uses Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) compliant security algorithms. Please note that this option is only available for new RES ONE Workspace Datastores and all Management Consoles, Agents, and Relay Servers must be running on RES ONE Workspace 2015 or later. Relay Server Relay Servers are an optional infrastructure component. Relay Servers cache information from the Datastore and pass it on to Agents or to other Relay Servers. Agents can be configured to contact the Datastore directly, or to use Relay Servers. In a RES ONE Workspace site, both methods can be used at the same time, with some Agents connecting to the Datastore and others using Relay Servers. A site can contain several Relay Servers. Relay Servers increase the scalability of RES ONE Workspace in sites with many Agents, and improve performance in sites where a direct Datastore connection is slow. Agents that connect to Relay Servers do not need to have a database driver installed for the Datastore. Agent Agents are the actual computers on which a full installation or Agent-only installation of RES ONE Workspace is present locally. These can be Terminal Servers, workstations, laptops, and VDIs (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure). Agents can be configured in the Management Console. Each Agent contains a local cache of all information that is stored in the Datastore. This setup means that a User Workspace does not depend on connectivity to the Datastore or a Relay Server. When the Agents are installed, they have to be configured to present the end users with a shell managed by RES ONE Workspace: the Workspace Composer. Copyright RES Software Development B.V. All rights reserved. 3

Chapter 2: About RES ONE Workspace Workspace Composer The Workspace Composer uses the data in the local data cache to build User Workspaces, including applications, menu items and settings to which the user is granted access. The desktop can be displayed using either the RES ONE Workspace shell or the Microsoft Windows shell. Both shells are managed by RES ONE Workspace, but the RES ONE Workspace shell presents a classic Windows-like shell with additional RES ONE Workspace-only technology, whereas the Microsoft Windows shell is the exact shell as it is presented by Microsoft, including the various available themes. 4 Copyright RES Software Development B.V. 9 Chapter 2: About RES ONE Workspace 2.2 Architecture Overview This architecture overview displays the key components of RES ONE Workspace and how they relate to each other. RES ONE Workspace Datastore RES ONE Workspace requires a database to store its configuration data, logging and usage tracking information. RES ONE Workspace provides the capability to store logging and usage tracking in a separate database from the configuration information. Relay Server (optional) As of RES Workspace Manager 2012, the use of optional Relay Servers is supported. Relay Servers are data brokers between the high-availability database server and the Agents. Relay Servers can be chained together to support any enterprise network topology. The Relay Server is a light-weight component with a small footprint. It stores a cache of the Datastore. Agents relay data to and from the database via one or more Relay Servers which are automatically detected. Agents do not need a Relay Server to operate. For more information about Relay Server installation and prerequisites, please refer to the RES ONE Workspace Relay Server documentation that is available at Agent The RES ONE Workspace Agent communicates with the Relay Server or Datastore and creates the local cache with the configuration data. The local cache is kept in sync by the Agent in the background and does not impact the workspace composition by the Workspace Composer. Communication intervals can be configured to optimize the network topology in place. Please refer to Workspace communication (on page 7) for more detail. Workspace Composer The RES Workspace Composer is responsible for the context detection and workspace composition. Any configuration data needed to manage the workspace is stored in the local cache by the Agent. This local cache is used by the Workspace Composer to build the desktop. There is, therefore, no direct dependency on the Relay Server or Datastore for a user to logon. In multi-user environments, one Workspace Composer is active per session. Copyright RES Software Development B.V. All rights reserved. 5

Chapter 2: About RES ONE Workspace File Server RES ONE Workspace stores personalization data (personal settings) on a common file server. By default, the location for the personalization data is the user s home directory. Most Microsoft Windows infrastructure have a home directory in place, which may prevent you from managing a separate storage for personalization data only. If necessary, this location can be changed. Drivers Drivers are used for security and personalization. In multi-user environments, one instance of each driver is active per system, shared with all sessions. Console RES ONE Workspace is managed through the RES ONE Workspace Console. The Console communicates directly with the Datastore and cannot work offline. Management Portal The RES ONE Workspace Management Portal is an optional, web-based application that works alongside the Console. Currently, you can access Workspace Analysis, the Audit Trail, Security section, and (if installed) RES Reporting from the Management Portal. For more information about the Management Portal installation and prerequisites, please refer to the RES ONE Workspace Management Portal documentation that is available at 6 Copyright RES Software Development B.V. All rights reserved.

Chapter 2: About RES ONE Workspace 2.3 Workspace communication In RES ONE Workspace, all communication between the Datastore or the Relay Server and its Agents is taken care of by the RES ONE Workspace Agent Service, which runs on each Agent. The first time a connection between an Agent and the Datastore or the Relay Server is established, for example directly after the installation of the Agent, the RES ONE Workspace Agent Service will download all configuration settings from the Datastore or the Relay Server to the local data cache on the Agent. After this, only Datastore changes will be downloaded. The Workspace Composer logs all actions that a user carries out in the User Workspace. Some user actions may also be recorded as Usage Tracking data. These log files and Usage Tracking data are cached locally on the Agent and are uploaded to the Datastore or the Relay Server by the RES ONE Workspace Agent Service. 12 Chapter 2: About RES ONE Workspace 2.4 Select RES ONE Workspace Modules When creating a new RES ONE Workspace Datastore at Datastore > Connections in the Setup menu, you can choose which RES ONE Workspace module(s) you wish to evaluate or use, depending on the required features: RES ONE Workspace Core Composition Governance Security For full details about the features available in each module, please refer to the RES ONE Workspace Module Comparison Chart available at During the 45-day evaluation period, go to Licensing in the Setup menu and click the Module(s) hyperlink to switch modules. Combine modules When modules are combined, please take into account the following: The modules require an equal license count to unlock the combined feature sets. If you have an unequal number of licenses for two or three different modules, the number of the first module for which licenses were imported becomes the default number of licenses. In any situation, adding licenses for a second or third module will not decrease the total number of licenses, nor the feature set that is available, unless you choose to do this. In this situation, you can choose an alternative combination of the unequal number of licenses for two or more modules via the module(s) hyperlink on the Licenses tab at Setup > Licensing. Examples Scenario 1 - equal number of licenses for two modules: 200 Composition named licenses (initial module licenses) 200 Governance named licenses are added to your RES ONE Workspace environment Result: 200 named licenses for Composition + Governance Scenario 2 - lower license count for second module: 200 Composition named licenses (initial module licenses) 100 Governance named licenses are added to your RES ONE Workspace environment Result: 200 named licenses for Composition Alternative choice: 100 Composition + Governance named licenses - this decreases the number of available licenses from 200 to 100 in your RES ONE Workspace environment. Scenario 3 - higher license count for second module: 100 Governance named licenses (initial module licenses) 200 Security named licenses are added to your RES ONE Workspace environment Result: 100 named licenses for Governance + Security. Note that this means that you have 100 unused Security licenses. Alternative choice: 200 Security named licenses - this increases the number of available licenses from 100 to 200 in your RES ONE Workspace environment, but you lose the features that belong to the Governance module. 8 Copyright RES Software Development B.V. All rights reserved.

Chapter 2: About RES ONE Workspace Scenario 4 - Named and concurrent license combinations: 200 Security named licenses (initial module licenses) 100 Security concurrent licenses (initial module licenses) Result: 300 Security licenses (200 named concurrent). If you add: 200 Composition named licenses Result: 300 Security licenses (200 named concurrent) Alternative choice: 200 Composition + Security named licenses. Note that this means that you have 100 unused Security concurrent licenses. If you then add: 100 Composition concurrent licenses Result: 300 Composition + Security licenses (200 named concurrent) Choose alternative license combinations If one or more alternative choices are available, the Module(s) label (on the Licenses tab at Setup > Licensing) becomes a hyperlink to open a window where you can set the active license combination. 19 Chapter 2: About RES ONE Workspace 2.7 Licensing At Licensing in the Setup menu, you can view and manage the licenses of your RES ONE Workspace environment. The RES ONE Workspace licensing model is built up as follows: RES ONE Workspace uses Named User licenses. Named User licenses are based on the Microsoft Windows logon name of single users. Concurrent User licenses used in earlier versions of RES ONE Workspace can still be used after upgrading to this version of RES ONE Workspace and can be used alongside Named User Licenses. Concurrent User licenses are based on the number of simultaneous User Workspace sessions. Upon request, Concurrent User licenses can still be purchased for RES ONE Workspace. Evaluation licenses When RES ONE Workspace is installed, an evaluation license for 25 Named Users for RES ONE Workspace is made available automatically, as well as an evaluation license for RES VDX for 25 VDX clients. During the evaluation period, you can easily switch between the different RES ONE Workspace Modules (on page 10) by clicking the Module(s) link. This allows you to try out the different sets of functionality that RES ONE Workspace modules offer. See Select RES ONE Workspace Modules. Evaluation licenses are valid for 45 days, after which RES ONE Workspace automatically blocks user sessions. To use RES VDX and other modules of RES ONE Workspace after the evaluation period, you need to buy licenses from your reseller or activate RES ONE Workspace Core. After licenses have been imported, it is no longer possible to switch between modules. You can add new modules by buying additional Module licenses. Configuration To activate RES ONE Workspace Core, first deselect the paid modules (Composition, Governance, Security), then open the License Wizard or click the Get Licenses button. Click Get Licenses to obtain (additional) licenses. This opens a web page with contact details of your nearest reseller. Click View to view the details of a license (not applicable for built-in evaluation licenses and site licenses). Click Delete to delete a license (not applicable for built-in evaluation licenses and site licenses). Click License Wizard to import, register and activate RES ONE Workspace licenses. You can also use this wizard for RES VDX licenses (not available when using RES ONE Workspace Core). Use License alerting threshold in combination with the Alerting event License threshold reached (at Setup > Integration > Alerting, on the Events tab) to set up an alert before all licenses have been claimed. This enables you to take action before users are not able to log on because no licenses are available in the Datastore. Specify the number of claimed licenses (between 1 and ) that must be reached before showing an alert. To actually show the alert, you must configure the License threshold reached event. Setting the License alerting threshold to 0 or leaving it blank, disables the alert. Copyright RES Software Development B.V. All rights reserved. 15

Chapter 2: About RES ONE Workspace Use If no license is available at logon to set up a licensing policy that specifies what should happen if no license is available when a user starts a workspace session. Continue with limited functionality: If no (evaluation) licenses are available when a user logs on, a message will be shown to the user: "There is no license available. RES ONE Workspace will start a restricted session that offers only limited functionality. Please contact your administrator." The user can still log on, but only RES ONE Workspace Core functionality will be available. The event of no available licenses will also be logged in the Event log with an exclamation mark. Continue with reminder for 45 days: If no licenses are available when a user logs on, the user can still use RES ONE Workspace with full functionality for 45 days, but a reminder is shown to the user: "No RES ONE Workspace license is available. An unlicensed session will start after a short delay. In [x] days, you will not be able to start any session. Please ask your administrator to buy additional licenses." The event of no available licenses is logged in the User Event log and in the Error log (once every 24 hours). Then, a countdown is started and if, after 45 days, there is still no license available, the user will not be able to start any session until additional licenses have been added. Do not continue, log off: When selected and no (evaluation) licenses are available when a user logs on, a message will be shown to the user ("No RES ONE Workspace license available for session"). The user will be logged off automatically and an entry will be logged in the User Event Log ("RES ONE Workspace cannot continue because no (evaluation) licenses are available"). Notes The setting Continue with reminder for 45 days for the option If no license is available at logon, is not available during evaluation. If you move a RES ONE Workspace Core SQL database, and the database creation date changes, then the RES ONE Workspace environment will revert to Evaluation mode with a default 25 user limit. In that case, you need to re-activate the licenses again by clicking Get Free Licenses. This will activate your licenses immediately for an unlimited number of users and without expiration date. 2.8 Video tutorials We publish video tutorials online to get you started with RES ONE Workspace quickly and easily. These tutorials cover a broad range of subjects, from installing and setting up RES ONE Workspace to configuring the various parts of our product (for example, using the Workspace Model and Managed Applications). The Help file also offers hyperlinks to video tutorials. 16 Copyright RES Software Development B.V. All rights reserved.

Chapter 3: Installation Chapter 3: Installation 3.1 Prerequisites Software Prerequisites The following RES ONE Workspace installation file, available for download at RES ONE Workspace Installer exe - This is an installation package that contains the MSI files for the RES ONE Workspace components. Individual components can be extracted from the installer and are also available for download. If you want to use the Relay Server, separate installation files are required. The installation of Relay Server requires Microsoft.NET Framework or higher. For more information, please refer to the document Getting Started with RES ONE Workspace Relay Servers. Software installed on Agent A supported operating system. See the Compatibility Matrix (see page 47). Microsoft.NET Framework or higher. Microsoft.NET Framework Client Profile or higher when using User Setting caching. Hardware Each full installation of RES ONE Workspace requires approximately 125 MB of hard disk space for the application files. This does not include the data stored in the local cache. The hard disk space required for cached data entirely depends on the configuration of your RES ONE Workspace environment. Each Console-only installation of RES ONE Workspace requires approximately 50 MB of hard disk space. These installations do not require any additional disk space for the local cache. Each Agent-only installation of RES ONE Workspace requires approximately 75 MB of hard disk space. The memory needed for the RES ONE Workspace Agent depends on the configuration. For example, in an environment with applications enabled and 100 authorized files configured, the Agent needs around 27 MB of memory during a normal user session (applications are running, other applications are started and stopped again). Each Agent requires drive space on the home drive for storing RES ONE Workspace settings. As User Settings are stored in the same location, this amount increases if User Settings are available to the user. The required amount of space then depends on the size of the stored User Settings. All RES ONE Workspace settings, including User Settings, are compressed when stored. Database A supported database. See the Compatibility Matrix (see page 47). Copyright RES Software Development B.V. All rights reserved. 17

Chapter 3: Installation Database prerequisites Microsoft SQL Server* Mixed Mode authentication (only when using SQL Server login for Authentication) MDAC 2.6 or later on all Agents A named SQL Server System Administrator login ID If Force protocol encryption is enabled: Microsoft Native Client Microsoft SQL Azure* Microsoft Windows Azure credentials Microsoft SQL Server Native Client on all Agents connecting directly to the Datastore Oracle Oracle DBA credentials Oracle database drivers on all Agents connecting directly to the Datastore MySQL MySQL DBA credentials MySQL ODBC driver on the database server and on all Agents connecting directly to the Datastore * For Microsoft SQL Servers and Microsoft SQL Azure, if you have the option Always On Failover Cluster Instances enabled (High-Availability solution), in case a failover to a secondary database happens, (global) objects in the Management Console are displayed with a blue icon with an i inside. This means the objects have read-only access to the database at that moment. 18 Copyright RES Software Development B.V. All rights reserved.

Chapter 3: Installation 3.2 Installing RES ONE Workspace The first step in setting up User Workspace Management is to install RES ONE Workspace version 10.1 on the computer on which you want to manage User Workspaces. With the installation of RES ONE Workspace version 10.1, the Management Console and an Agent will be installed. To install RES ONE Workspace version 10.1 on your computer, use the RES ONE Workspace Installer (RES ONE Workspace Installer exe). The RES ONE Workspace Installer is an installation package that contains the MSI files for the different components of RES ONE Workspace, grouped in one executable making it easier to install all necessary RES ONE Workspace components. When using the RES ONE Workspace Installer you can either Select and install components on the machine on which you are currently working or Extract all components for later use. Choosing the option Select and install components, allows you to select which component(s) should be installed on the machine. The installation wizard of the selected component(s) will then guide you through the actual installation. The RES ONE Workspace Installer auto-detects whether the 64-bit or 32-bit version of the component(s) needs to be installed. You can install the following components: Clients: Workspace Composer Management Console Services: Relay Server Reporting Services Extra: Desktop Sampler Language Packs When extracting all components, individual MSI and EXE files will be saved in the specified location. Instead of installing RES ONE Workspace fully, you can choose to perform: an Agent-only installation, if you want to install RES ONE Workspace without a Console (use RES ONE Workspace Agent msi). a Console-only installation, if you do not want to install a RES ONE Workspace Agent on the computer on which you want to manage your environment (use RES ONE Workspace Console msi). Please note that it is not possible to install an Agent-only and a Console-only installation side by side on the same machine. To go from a partial installation to a full installation, first uninstall the Agent-only or Console-only installation, then install the full RES ONE Workspace. When installing RES ONE Workspace, the Setup Wizard will guide you through the installation process. After reading and accepting the End-User License Agreement and specifying the installation folder, you will be asked whether you want the Workspace Composer to launch the next time someone logs on to the computer. If you have not yet created a Datastore, select No, I will configure this later in the Management Console. This option is not available for installations on Terminal Servers and with Console-only installations. After the installation of RES ONE Workspace has completed, the Connection Wizard will start. This wizard helps you to connect the installed Agent to a RES ONE Workspace environment. You can: Set up a new environment (on page 21) Connect to an existing environment (on page 33) Copyright RES Software Development B.V. All rights reserved. 19

Chapter 3: Installation Note Installing the RES ONE Workspace Console, Datastore, and/or Relay Server on a domain controller is not recommended as this may cause performance issues and unexpected behavior. RES installation files are signed with certificates. Microsoft Windows tries to verify a certificate s validity before installing software products. This process (Certificate Revocation List (CRL)) is run to check to see if a certificate was revoked because it was expired or compromised. This process is not unique to RES and is something that happens for any product that contains a certificate and is run on Microsoft Windows (unless CRL is turned off which is not recommended by Microsoft). It is also possible under specific cases that a CRL check is done during process startup. An example of this is when the RES Agent Service is configured to connect to a Relay Server, it will perform a CRL validation on startup. A logon could potentially be delayed if the environment does not use a Corporate/Enterprise license and the user attempts to logon immediately after the restart of the computer or the service, before the CRL check has been done. On computers without Internet access, the CRL validation may cause a delay of, for example, seconds before an installation starts. This is by design of Microsoft Windows. To avoid this delay to occur, make sure machines can connect to the Internet. If this is not possible, implement a (manual/automatic) distribution system to keep the publisher's certificate revocation lists up to date. For new installations of RES ONE Workspace: The file capicom.dll will be installed if it is not yet present on the machine on which you install RES ONE Workspace. Capicom.dll is a third-party component, supplied by Microsoft. The Capicom component version (available at included in this RES ONE Workspace release, is subject to the Microsoft Software License Terms, Microsoft Capicom, which solely govern End-User s use of that component. By installing RES ONE Workspace version 10.1 on a machine on which capicom.dll is not yet present, the End-User assumes and accepts sole responsibility of the use of the Microsoft Capicom component and compliance with the applicable license terms. The third-party components for ActiveReports will be installed. The ActiveReports components (libraries and object code) included in this release, is proprietary to Data Dynamics, Ltd. (acquired by: GrapeCity, Inc.). End-User by downloading and installing this release assumes and accepts sole responsibility of the use of the ActiveReports component and will not act contrary to license terms applicable and available via ml. 20 Copyright RES Software Development B.V. 25 Chapter 3: Installation Set up a new environment When choosing to set up a new RES ONE Workspace environment, the Datastore Wizard will open. 1. Follow the steps of the Datastore Wizard to create a new Datastore. 2. When prompted, select the desired evaluation edition of RES ONE Workspace. The evaluation period lasts for 45 days, during which you can switch between editions if desired. 3. Reboot the computer after you have finished the installation process and configured a new Datastore. Copyright RES Software Development B.V. All rights reserved. 21

Chapter 3: Installation Configuration Wizard After configuring a new Datastore, you need to set up your new RES ONE Workspace site. For this purpose, RES ONE Workspace contains a Configuration Wizard, which automatically starts up when opening the Management Console. This wizard can guide you through setting up a basic configuration in RES ONE Workspace in a few easy steps, and can create some example objects as reference. These configurations are based on our best practices, and can serve as starting points for your new environment. If you want to do this without using the Configuration Wizard, simply click Cancel. In the Configuration Wizard, you have the choice to either create an Evaluation site or a Production site. Depending on this choice, two different routes for configuration can be followed: Create an Evaluation site (on page 23) Create a Production site (on page 28) Tip In the Summary (review site configuration settings) step of the Configuration Wizard, you can click the Instant Report button to show or save the Configuration Wizard summary. You can use this summary as an overview or checklist containing the items and settings that have been configured. Note The Console user needs the administrative role of "Technical Manager" with full rights to all nodes in RES ONE Workspace to be able to execute the Configuration Wizard. 22 Copyright RES Software Development B.V. All rights reserved.

Chapter 3: Installation Create an Evaluation site 1. When the Configuration Wizard starts, an introductory window welcomes you to the configuration wizard. View the online tutorial to learn more about the concepts of workspace management, or click Next if you are already familiar with our product. 2. You will be asked to select the type of RES ONE Workspace site you wish to create. Select Evaluation. Copyright RES Software Development B.V. All rights reserved. 23

Chapter 3: Installation 3. Select one or more client types for which you want to create Workspace Containers. Workspace Containers are logical groups of Agents (for instance, physical or virtual desktops, laptops or remote desktop servers). At least one Workspace Container must be selected. Besides the Workspace Containers you selected, a Workspace Container "Unmanaged desktops" will be created, with all features disabled. The settings for the other Workspace Containers will be determined in the next steps of the wizard. You can either choose to view the online tutorial to be informed about the concepts of Workspace Containers or click Next if you are already familiar with the feature. 4. Select the features you want to start using. Use Ctrl + A to (de)select all features. These features will be configured per Workspace Container. Click Next. 24 Copyright RES Software Development B.V. All rights reserved.

Chapter 3: Installation 5. Specify the settings for each feature you selected in the previous step. Most features can be enabled or disabled by selecting the relevant check box under the Workspace Container heading. The Create example objects check box is selected by default, when you are creating an evaluation site. You can de-select the check box per feature, if you do not want to create example objects for that feature. If you want more information about a specific feature (for example, Workspace performance or Application Management), click View tutorial. After you have specified the settings per feature (depending on your selection, you have to go through various windows), click Next. 6. Determine which additional example configurations should be created (besides the example configurations you selected with the feature selection), then click Next. All additional example objects are selected by default, when you are creating an evaluation site. Copyright RES Software Development B.V. All rights reserved. 25

Chapter 3: Installation 7. Your site's configuration settings are shown in a summary. You can click the Instant Report button to show and/or save the configuration wizard summary. If you want to change any of the settings, click Back. If you agree with the settings, click Apply. 8. The items will be configured. Click Next when the process is completed. 26 Copyright RES Software Development B.V. All rights reserved.

Chapter 3: Installation 9. The final step is the Action List: a list of instructions for steps that need to be taken manually in order to finalize the configurations designed in the Configuration Wizard. You can close the wizard after saving the Action List to the clipboard or saving it to a file. 10. Work through the Action List, reviewing, adding and editing configurations as required. Note If you click Cancel during any of the steps of the configuration wizard, the wizard will exit without changing anything in the configuration of the site. The next time the Console is started, the configuration wizard will start up automatically, as long as no configuration items have been saved. Copyright RES Software Development B.V. All rights reserved. 27

Chapter 3: Installation Create a Production site 1. When the Configuration Wizard starts, an introductory window welcomes you to the configuration wizard. View the online tutorial to learn more about the concepts of workspace management, or click Next if you are already familiar with our product. 2. You will be asked to select the type of RES ONE Workspace site you wish to create. Select Production. 28 Copyright RES Software Development B.V. All rights reserved.

Click Next. Copyright RES Software Development B.V. 34 Chapter 3: Installation 5. Specify the settings for each feature you selected in the previous step. Most features can be enabled or disabled by selecting the relevant check box under the Workspace Container heading. The Create example objects check box is not selected by default, when you are creating a production site. You can select the check box per feature, to create example objects for that feature. If you want more information about a specific feature (for example, Workspace performance or Application Management), click View tutorial. After you have specified the settings per feature (depending on your selection, you have to go through various windows), click Next. 6. Determine which example configurations should be created, then click Next. No additional example objects are selected by default, when you are creating a production site. 30 Copyright RES Software Development B.V. All rights reserved.

Chapter 3: Installation 7. Your site configuration settings are shown in a summary. You can click the Instant Report button to show and/or save the configuration wizard summary. If you want to change any of the settings click Back. If you agree with the settings, click Finish. 8. The items will be configured. Click Next when the process is completed. 42 Chapter 5: Setup Chapter 5: Setup 5.1 Directory Services Before you start using RES ONE Workspace version 10.1, you can optionally specify which Directory Service(s) RES ONE Workspace can use. RES ONE Workspace delivers applications and resources based on the user, OU and group information that it retrieves from the configured Directory Service(s). The primary domain of the user that performed the initial full installation of RES ONE Workspace will be configured by default. Additional Directory Services can be configured in the following way: 1. Launch the Management Console on the computer on which you manage your environment. 2. At User Context > Directory Services, click Add. This opens the New Directory Service window. If you are setting up an environment on a computer that is connected to a network, provide the relevant information to enumerate existing domains, users, groups and Organizational Units. If you are setting up an environment on a computer that is not part of a domain, select Local Computer as a single domain to be enumerated, after which you can use the local user account that you set up for this purpose. 38 Copyright RES Software Development B.V. All rights reserved.

Chapter 5: Setup 5.2 Agents The next step in setting up a RES ONE Workspace environment is to install RES ONE Workspace on other computers. Computers running RES ONE Workspace are Agents. 1. Log on to a computer with an administrator account. 2. Install RES ONE Workspace. During the installation of RES ONE Workspace, you will be asked whether you want the Workspace Composer to launch the next time someone logs on to the computer. Select Yes, configure Workspace Composer to run automatically on this computer so that a RES ONE Workspace will automatically start when users log on to the computer. 3. After the installation of RES ONE Workspace has completed, the Connection Wizard will start. This wizard helps you to connect the installed Agent to a RES ONE Workspace environment. When prompted, select Connect to an existing environment. Copyright RES Software Development B.V. All rights reserved. 39

Chapter 5: Setup 4. In the next step, select whether to connect this Agent directly to the Datastore or to Relay Servers. 5. When choosing to connect the Agent directly to a Datastore, specify the connection settings to the relevant RES ONE Workspace environment and follow the steps of the wizard. 6. Log off and reboot the computer. 7. Repeat these steps on any computer that should be an Agent. 8. Log on to a computer with a test user account. If you installed RES ONE Workspace on a workstation, a RES ONE Workspace session will start automatically. To change this, go to Administration > Agents in the Management Console, right-click the Agent and change the value of the field Run Workspace Composer to Manual. Please refer to the Prerequisites (on page 17) for the Agents' hardware and software prerequisites. 40 Copyright RES Software Development B.V. All rights reserved.
