See the Terms of Use for more information. Topic#: Created: March 2013 Introduction At times your Intermec CK61 handheld computer can become non-responsive.

2 FIGuRE 1: INtERMEC CK61 If the computer does not resume after pressing the power button, or if the IntelaTrac application locks up, you may need to restart your device. The Intermec CK61 device has saved configurations in the Flash File store memory to reset the CK61 device. Here are the three methods you can use to reset the handheld. Warm Boot Cold Boot Clean Boot Application Versions This Tech Note applies to all versions of Intelatrac supported on this device. **(Is not technically related to the software version, just the Intermec Hardware we provide). Warm Booting the CK61 This method is best utilized under the condition where an application stops responding to the system. The computer system shuts down, restarts and goes through the initialization process. To Warm Boot the CK61 Press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds. Cold Booting the Ck61 This method is best utilized when the computer completely stops responding. However, because cold booting may result in data loss, only use this method if all other recovery attempts have failed. Be aware that cold booting the CK61 does not guarantee that cached disk data will be saved, so transactional data may be lost during the reset. To Cold Boot the CK61 1. Press the Power button to suspend the CK Remove the battery pack from the CK Press the Reset button next to the 8-pin connector located under the battery.

Clean Booting the CK61 This method is used to troubleshoot the CK61 by returning it to its default, out-of-the-box state. It also used to perform diagnostics tests and to determine which elements of the normal boot processes are causing problems. Clean booting the device will erase all applications, all the memory in the mobile computer & data files in the object store (Storage Card data will not be affected). To Clean Boot the CK61 1. Press the Power button to suspend the CK Remove the battery pack from the back of the device. 3. Press the Reset button next to the 8-pin connector located under the battery. 4. Press and hold the Power button while inserting the battery back into the device.

4 5. Continue to hold until the Warning message appears on the display. 6. Release the Power button, read the message, and press either button on the right side to continue. 7. The Handheld requests a screen align. Wait for the CK61 to load. Notes Regarding Clean Booting To preserve application programs through a clean boot you can store them in the Flash file store directory. If a cab file installation image is left on the storage card and the clean boot process is initiated, the handheld will erase all memory & then start to re-load the Mobile Intelatrac Cab file image. To return the handheld to its default, out-of-the-box state & not load the Mobile Intelatrac Software, erase the Storage card contents prior to the Clean Boot. FIGuRE 3: ClEAN BOOt PROMpt OptIONS D.
