1 Release notes QlikView / QlikView Server 9.00 SR7 (revision 3, ) Release The QlikView is a Service Release (SR7) based on (SR6). The service release contains all components of QlikView, QlikView Server including all clients as well as QlikView Publisher. Cross-release compatibility No changes since the release of 9.00 SR6 build Environment compatibility QlikView runs on Windows XP or a more recent Windows OS. With service release 2 (SR2) support for Windows 2008 R2 is added. The Ajax client will usually display correctly under Safari on mobile devices. However, Ajax on mobile devices is formally not supported, since important functionality is missing. New functionality No changes since the release of 9.00 SR6 build Support materials No changes since the release of 9.00 SR6 build Bug reporting All bugs and comments on this release should be directed to support@qlikview.com. Backward compatibility In addition to the compatibility issues listed for version 9.00 SR1 build 7257 and SR6 build 7646 that still apply, the correction of the the transparency slider for background pictures in charts can have the effect that background pictures does not show up at all (if they are set to 100% transparency) The obsolete value "Experienced Performance" has been deleted from QVS logs. (It is mentioned here to make it clear that this is an intended change.) Known issues Several of the known limitations listed for version 9.00 SR1 build 7257 still apply. See below in the release notes of the initial release. The following issues or limitations were identified at release time:

2 QlikView Server, Publisher and Management Consoles If you are using Windows Server 2003 and remove users from your AD but still reference them from your QlikView Server installation, Windows Server 2003 can lock up. By applying the hotfix described in you avoid that problem. In the QlikView Server event log this error will be logged as: :43: :51: Warning Windows System Info: Failed to translate name SEFIZ000\frz "The parameter is incorrect. Windows Server 2008 has port 4747 turned off by default. QVS will then fall back to HTTP tunneling which may have an adverse effect on performance. If you install on Windows Server 2008 make sure that you are not tunneling "by mistake". Additional Actions to take when upgrading to 9.00 SR7 from versions older than 9.00 SR5 INFO! These steps are done to get all the scheduled tasks restored after the upgrade when running QlikView Server. If having a Publisher license these steps should not be necessary since the new workorder.xml file created in the upgrade will fetch the information about the tasks from the Publisher database nevertheless you still need to remove the QDS folder.

3 Apart from the information given in the Reference Manual, 3.2 Upgrading QlikView Server you should: 1. Stop the QV services from the windows services manager. 2. If your operating system is Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 navigate to C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\Publisher, otherwise navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\QlikTech\Publisher. This will be your base for performing the step by step guide and the folders mentioned here will be here. 3. Make a backup copy of the folder Qlikview Distribution Service 4. Uninstall present QlikView Server via Control Panel Add/Remove programs. 5. Remove the QlikView Distribution Service Folder from the folder mentioned in point Install QlikView Server 9.00 SR6 and start the QV services. 7. Stop the QlikView Distribution Service from Windows Services manager. 8. Open the file StandardScheduleListClustered.xml located in your backup copy of the folder Qlikview Distribution Service your previously made and checks that it contains all the expected scheduled tasks. If the StandardScheduleListClustered.xml file is corrupt then you unfortunately need to reschedule all your tasks. 9.If the file looks OK copy the file into the folder Qlikview Distribution Service (this folder was created when you started the Qlikview Distribution Service in step 5.) 10. Start the QlikView Distribution Service from the Windows Services manager. 11. Go to QlikView Management Console or QlikView Enterprise Management Console and your existing tasks. Mark one of the task and simply press apply. This will create a new workorder.xml file generated from the StandardScheduleListClustered.xml you just copied.

4 Bugs corrected A number of bugs have been fixed. Macros that have been coded against the erroneous behavior (returning 'false' to indicate success) need to be corrected. A minimum session time of 15 minutes for Session CAL licenses has also been introduced for QlikView Server.

The following issues or limitations were identified at release time: QlikView Server, Publisher and Management Consoles The SR6 installation packages for Server and Publisher that were initially published contained an incorrect JavaScript file that made it impossible to open multiple documents with the Ajax client. If you experience these types of problems, please contact QlikTech Support for patch instructions. The issue has now been rectified and the SR6 installation packages that are now available for download do NOT have this problem. SR6 resolves all know issues with stability and performance of QDS clustering. With this release customers can extend QDS clusters to include many nodes and they will balance the work between themselves and trigger task execution on all nodes in a cluster. It is possible, however, that under high load a small percentage of tasks may fail to execute with a "COM exception error". The failure is not related to the task or script, and the task will execute during their next execution cycle. We are continuing to investigate this issue. The following issues or limitations were identified at release time: QlikView Server, Publisher and Management Consoles SR5 resolves all know issues with stability and performance of QDS clustering. With this release customers can extend QDS clusters to include many nodes and they will balance the work between themselves and trigger task execution on all nodes in a cluster. It is possible, however, that under high load a small percentage of tasks may fail to execute with a "COM exception error". The failure is not related to the task or script, and the task will execute during their next execution cycle. We are continuing to investigate this issue. Windows Server 2008 has port 4747 turned off by default. QVS will then fall back to HTTP tunneling which may have an adverse effect on performance. If you install on Windows Server 2008 make sure that you are not tunneling "by mistake".

19 Additional Actions to take when upgrading to 9.00 SR5 INFO! These steps are done to get all the scheduled tasks restored after the upgrade when running QlikView Server. If having a Publisher license these steps should not be necessary since the new workorder.xml file created in the upgrade will fetch the information about the tasks from the Publisher database nevertheless you still need to remove the QDS folder. Apart from the information given in the Reference Manual, 3.2 Upgrading QlikView Server you should, 1. Stop the QV services from the windows services manager. 2. If running QlikView Server, without Publisher license, please go to C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\Publisher\Qlikview Distribution Service or C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\QlikTech\Publisher\Qlikview Distribution Service and take a backup of the QlikView Distribution Service (QDS) Folder. If running Publisher the information stored in the Distribution Service Folder will also be stored in the Publisher database (QVPR) so therefore it is not necessary to backup the Distribution Service Folder if using Publisher. 3.Uninstall present QlikView Server via Control Panel Add/Remove programs. 4. When this is done remove the QlikView Distribution Service Folder from C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\Publisher\ or C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\QlikTech\Publisher\ 5. Install QlikView Server 9.00 SR5 and start the QV services. 6. If running QlikView Server, without Publisher License, go to the old QlikView Distribution Service Folder and open the StandardScheduleListClustered.xml. Check so that this file is ok, i.e. is not empty, contains all the expected scheduled tasks etc. If everything looks ok copy this file into the new created Distribution Service Folder (C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\Publisher\Qlikview Distribution Service or C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\QlikTech\Publisher\Qlikview Distribution Service Then you need to restart the QlikView Distribution Service from the Windows Services manager to get a new workorder.xml file generated from the old StandardScheduleListClustered.xml. 25 QlikView Plugin for Internet Explorer Internet Explorer 8 can work better if you turn off the process isolation feature. See the following link for more information: Interaction between objects loaded into Internet Explorer can lead to an inferior performance. Removing the Acrobat Reader object has been found to significantly improve stability for the QlikView Plugin for Internet Explorer. QlikView Server, Publisher and Management Consoles When QDS is clustered the following events may appear in Windows event logs. They should be considered as "normal" logging messages. Exception=System.Exception: Could not create lock Exception=System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file '\\Machine Name\QlikTech\Publisher\Qlikview Distribution Service\LoadBalancer.xml.lck' because it is being used by another process. The code that determines group membership has been changed which leads to a change in behaviour. The wording from the developer is as follows: "previously we scanned the members of the qv admins group which didn't support indirect membership, and no we changed to checking the users group memberships which does support it. the old solution was realtime while the new is only as up to date as the latest login. so the real issue was that the user hadn't relogged since joining the group." It is no longer possible to install and run QVS on a Domain Controller. The Domain Controller has no local groups so the membership check described above will not work. As an interim solution, we have created a special build of the "QlikView Management Service" that can be run on a Domain Controller. It is available as a ZIP-file from the download site. Just replace the installed "Qlikview Management Service.exe" with the version included in the ZIP-file. Very late we found out that the editing of tasks is slow if you do it one way, but significantly faster if you use an alternative way. The fast way is to select the task in the left pane in the tree view instead of just selecting the document. See pictures below
