Creating the Cognos BI Content Store Creating the Cognos BI Content Store Before installing the Cognos BI software, you configure the Content Store. The Content Store is the database used with Cognos BI. You create your Content Store on your database server. You can create the Content Store as a Microsoft SQL Server database or an Oracle database. This section provides detailed instructions for creating the Content Store using Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle. Cognos 10.1: Except where noted, the procedures in this section are the same for Cognos BI 10.1 as they are for The illustrations, however, are for Creating the Content Store Using Microsoft SQL Server You must have Microsoft SQL Server 2008 installed and configured as follows prior to creating the content store: UTF-8 or UTF-16 encoding is used. (For more information about character sets, encoding, and collation, see the Microsoft SQL Server documentation.) The collation sequence is case-insensitive. In a Custom installation, you choose a collation, which includes character sets and sort order, during the SQL Server setup. In a Typical installation, the installation uses the locale identified by the installation program for the collation. This setting cannot be changed later. The authentication mode for the database is set to SQL Server and Windows. (For more information, see knowledge base article on the Microsoft Web site.) The TCP/IP protocol is enabled. Cognos requires this protocol. (For more information, see Troubleshoot Your Installation.) Creating the Content Store Using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 To create the Cognos BI Content Store database using Microsoft SQL Server 2008, complete the following steps: 1. On the computer you will use as your database server, select Programs» Microsoft SQL Server [XXXX]» SQL Server Management Studio from the Windows Start menu. 2. In the Connect to Server dialog box, log into SQL Server Management Studio using the sa account username and password. 3. In the Object Explorer pane, right-click Database and select New Database. 18 Creating the Cognos BI Content Store 4. On the New Database dialog box, enter cm in the Database name field and click OK. The new cm database is created. Installation Guide for New Users 14

Creating the Cognos BI Content Store 5. Create a user account (Login) called cognos and grant it public and db_owner access to the cm database: a) In the Object Explorer pane on the left, expand the Security tree. b) Right-click Login and select New Login. c) On the Login New dialog box, create the new user by entering or selecting the following information: Login name Enter cognos SQL Server authentication Select this option and enter a password in the Password field. Enter it again in the Confirm Password field. Enforce password policy Clear this check box. Default database Select cm (the database you created earlier in these instructions) from the list. 20 Creating the Cognos BI Content Store 6. In the Select a page pane on the left, click User Mapping. 7. In the Users mapped to this login table, select cm. Then select db_owner and public in the Database role membership for: cm list. Installation Guide for New Users 16

Creating the Cognos BI Content Store 8. Click OK. 9. Close SQL Server Management Studio. Creating the Content Store Using Oracle Following is a list of important information to know and steps to follow before you create the Content Store in Oracle: You create the Content Store on the machine you will use as your database server. Setup for Cognos and the Costpoint Enterprise Reporting software requires the creation of an Oracle database that uses a Unicode character set. NLS_CHARACTERSET = AL32UTF8 NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET = AL16UTF16 Use this statement to verify that you are using the correct character set in the instance you use for the Cognos Content Store. SELECT * FROM NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS; You must create the cognos user as the account that will access the database. Ensure that the user account that accesses the database has permission to do the following tasks: Connect to the database Create, alter, and drop tables, triggers, views, procedures, and sequences Insert, update, and delete data in the database tables For example, grant the CONNECT and RESOURCE roles to the cognos8 or cognos10 account. If you are running Oracle 10 you also need to grant this user the CREATE ANY PROCEDURE and CREATE ANY VIEW privileges. (These were part of the RESOURCE role in Oracle 9). Size the database as appropriate. Database sizing depends on variables such as concurrent users and saved reports. For details, see the IBM Cognos Business Intelligence Architecture and Deployment Guide (Crn_arch.pdf) for the version of Cognos BI you will use. Cognos BI does not support the 64-bit Oracle client. Install the 32-bit client. Install the Oracle client: 1. Install the Oracle Administrator Client Utilities on the Cognos BI server. You cannot connect to the Content Store using Oracle without first installing these utilities. 2. Establish a connection to the Oracle server where you have created the Content Store schema using the Oracle Configuration Assistant. 3. Locate Oracle jdbc files classes12.jar and the ojdbc14.jar to be copied to the cognos webapps\p2pd\web_inf\lib folder: C:\app\Administrator\product\11.1.0\client_1\sqldeveloper\jdbc\lib\ojdbc14.jar C:\app\Administrator\product\11.1.0\client_1\oui\jlib\classes12.jar 4. Copy these files to a temporary location until after you install Cognos BI. Install the Oracle Net Configuration Assistant. Installation Guide for New Users 17

Creating the Cognos BI Content Store After you install Cognos BI (see Installing Cognos BI Server on page 19), do the following: Copy the classes12.jar file into the <Cognos install location>\webapps\p2pd\web-inf\lib folder. If you are using Oracle 10 or a later version, copy the ojdbc14.jar file (the new jdbc driver) into the <Cognos install location>\webapps\p2pd\web-inf\lib folder. Installation Guide for New Users 18

Apply the Costpoint Budgeting & Planning Scripts Apply the Costpoint Budgeting & Planning Scripts If you are currently using Costpoint Budgeting & Planning through 6.0.8, you must apply a set of scripts to Costpoint Budgeting & Planning to implement the link to Costpoint Enterprise Reporting. The Costpoint Enterprise Reporting 6.1 installation copies the script-related files to the following location: <installation location>\costpoint Enterprise Reporting for Budget and Planning\BaP SQL Scripts folder. If you participated in the Costpoint Enterprise Reporting 6.1 Beta program, you ran a set of Budgeting & Planning scripts previously. However, those scripts have changed, so you need to run the updated set of scripts as part of this upgrade installation process. To apply the Costpoint Budgeting & Planning scripts, complete the following steps: To run the Budget and Planning upgrade scripts, you must have SQL client utilities installed and must have established connectivity to the Costpoint Budgeting & Planning database. 1. In the <installation location>\costpoint Enterprise Reporting for Budget and Planning\BaP SQL Scripts folder, open the runscript.bat file in Notepad or another text editor, and replace the database and server information at the beginning of the file with the connection information for your environment. Also, if your username and password are not the defaults (shown below), change those settings to match your username and password. set dbname=<databasename> set servername=<servername> set username=deltekbp set password=password1 2. Save the runscript.bat file. 3. To apply the scripts, run the runscript.bat file from the <installation location>\costpoint Enterprise Reporting for Budget and Planning\BaP SQL Scripts folder. The.bat file opens a connection to your Costpoint Budgeting & Planning database and applies the changes that are required to implement the link to Costpoint Enterprise Reporting for Budgeting and Planning. Installation Guide for New Users 79

Run the Costpoint Enterprise Reporting Security Script Run the Costpoint Enterprise Reporting Security Script Costpoint Enterprise Reporting for Budgeting and Planning includes the option to restrict users access to report data by project. To implement this security, run the security script for the Framework Manager model, as described below. If you implement security, each Costpoint Enterprise Reporting for Budgeting and Planning user must also be set up as a user in Costpoint Budgeting and Planning. Costpoint Enterprise Reporting then uses the project access defined for each user in Costpoint Budgeting and Planning to determine access to report data. You do not specify any security settings in Costpoint Enterprise Reporting itself. If you do not implement this security, any user with access to Cognos can generate all reports and view data for all projects (unless you develop and apply custom security of some sort). For more information on security, refer to the Security section of the Deltek Costpoint Enterprise Reporting 6.1 Budgeting and Planning Reports Guide. Run the Security Script To implement security for the data in the budgeting and planning reports in Costpoint Enterprise Reporting, you must run a security script for the Framework Manager model. To run the security script, complete the following steps: 1. Open the Costpoint Enterprise Reporting for Budgeting and Planning.cpf file in Framework Manager. This file is located in the <installation location>\model folder. 2. On the Project menu, select Run Script. 3. Browse to the following folder: <installation location>\costpoint Enterprise Reporting for Budgeting and Planning\SecurityActionScripts. 4. Run ProjOnlyScript.xml. 5. After the script runs successfully, publish the Project Budgets package. Installation Guide for New Users 80

Troubleshoot Your Installation Troubleshoot Your Installation One of the prerequisites before you can create the content store is enabling the Microsoft SQL Server TCP/IP protocol. If you receive errors during the installation process, you must check this setting in Microsoft SQL Server. See the Cognos Error During Installation Process section for an example of an installation error and the Enable TCP/IP Protocol section for the steps to enable the protocol in Microsoft SQL Server. Cognos 10.1: Except where noted, the troubleshooting information in this section applies to both Cognos and Cognos Error During Installation Process During the installation process, if the Microsoft SQL Server TCP/IP Protocol is disabled, you will not encounter an error until you start services in Cognos Connection. Cognos will display the following error message: The test phase has warnings. Do you want to continue? Click No and complete the steps in the Enable TCP/IP Protocol procedure below. Return to Cognos and continue the installation process. Enable TCP/IP Protocol Before you can create the content store (see Creating the Cognos BI Content Store on page 13), you must have Microsoft SQL Server 2008 installed and TCP/IP protocol enabled. To confirm TCP/IP is enabled, complete the following steps: 1. Open Microsoft SQL Server. 2. Open the SQL Server Configuration Manager. 3. On the left menu pane, expand the SQL Server Network Confirmation menu item. 4. Click Protocols for MSSQLSERVER. The Protocol Name and Status fields on the right information pane display the name of each protocol and current status. 5. Confirm that the TCP/IP protocol is enabled. 6. If TCP/IP is disabled, double-click TCP/IP. The TCP/IP Properties dialog box displays. Installation Guide for New Users 89

Troubleshoot Your Installation 7. Click the Protocol tab. 8. Click the Enabled line, and use the drop-down list box to select Yes. 9. Click OK to save your changes. 10. Because changes do not take place until SQL services are stopped and restarted, you must stop services. On the left menu pane of the SQL Server Configuration Manager, click SQL Server [XX] Services. 11. Click SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER), and then click Stop Services. 12. Click SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER), and then click Start Services to restart the services. 13. Close the SQL Server Configuration Manager. Installation Guide for New Users 90

Special Topic: Deploying Reports to a Location Other Than the Standard Location Special Topic: Deploying Reports to a Location Other Than the Standard Location Deltek does not recommend deploying reports to any location other than the standard location because of the danger of breaking links to packages, common library reports, and drill reports. However, if you choose to deploy reports to a different location, note the following: To minimize the impact on the links, first deploy the reports to the standard directory under Public Folders, and then cut and paste the reports to move them to the desired location. This approach preserves the links to the packages and common library reports. However, it breaks the links to drill reports because the main (source) reports and drill (target) reports are not located in the same folders. After you relocate the reports, you must use Report Studio to redefine the links between the main reports and the drill reports. That procedure is outlined below. Cognos 10.1: The information in this section applies to both Cognos and Redefine Links to Drill Reports To redefine the links to drill reports, complete the following steps: 1. Open the main report in Report Studio. 2. Click on the toolbar to unlock the report so you can modify it. 3. On the report page, click the drill-through link (displayed as blue underlined text) and then click on the toolbar. 4. On the Drill-Through Definitions dialog box, click the first item in the Drill-Through Definition list. The Report field displays the drill report. 5. Click next to Report and browse to the new deployment location. 6. Select the drill report in that location, and click Open. 7. If the Drill-Through Definition list contains more than one item, repeat steps 4 6 for each one. 8. Click OK to close the Drill-Through Definitions dialog box. 9. Save the report. Installation Guide for New Users 91

Special Topic: Hiding and Displaying the Common Library Reports Special Topic: Hiding and Displaying the Common Library Reports Some Costpoint Enterprise Reporting report packages include a Common Library report. A Common Library report is not an actual report that you are intended to run. Rather, it contains elements, such as Deltek logos, prompt tabs, product version number, and so on, that are used in common by all reports. By default, the Common Library reports are hidden in Cognos Connection so they do not appear in the list of reports, and it is unlikely that you will ever need to make them visible. However, if you do need to make one of the Common Library reports visible, use the procedure below. Even if the Common Library reports are hidden, they are still visible to users with Show hidden entries selected in their preferences, though the icon for the report is dimmed. System administrators may want this option selected. However, for those users who should never see these reports, it is recommended that you make sure Show hidden entries is not selected and that you do not give them access to change this preferences option. Make a Common Library Report Visible in Cognos Connection Cognos 10.1: The information in this section applies to both Cognos and To make a Common Library report visible in Cognos Connection, complete the following steps: 1. In Cognos Connection, open the reporting package that contains the Common Library report For Costpoint Enterprise Reporting, the Common Library report is in the Basic Information CP package. For Costpoint Enterprise Reporting for Budgeting and Planning, it is in the Project Budgets package. 2. If the Common Library report is not visible in the list of reports, click on the toolbar and click My Preferences on the menu. Select the Show hidden entries check box and click OK. If the Show hidden entries check box is not displayed, you do not have the necessary access rights to change it. 3. Under Actions for the Common Library report, click More. 4. Under Available actions, click Set properties. 5. Clear the Hide this entry check box, and click OK. To hide the Common Library report again, repeat this procedure and select the Hide this entry check box in step 5. Installation Guide for New Users 92
