After logging on to the e-support site at click the Knowledge Center tab. From this tab, you can search by Product, Category, and/or Keyword. Please note that this is a protected site and requires a User ID and a Password. If you do not know your User ID, please contact your Support Contact Manager. If you forget your password, you can click the Forgot Your Password? link from the e-support site to reset your password. If this is your first time to use the e-support site, Deltek recommends that you watch the tutorial videos available by clicking the Tutorials button at the top right of the screen. Call Tracking System Can t find what you are looking for? You can add a support ticket right from the e-support site directly into our ticket tracking system. What s more, you can update or check the status of any open tickets. To add a support call, complete the following steps: 1. Log on to the e-support site ( 2. From the e-support site main menu, click the Ask Support tab. 3. From the Product drop-down list, select the product for which you have a question/problem. After you select a main product, select a sub-product from the dropdown list that appears. 4. From the Severity Level drop-down list, select the severity for your question/problem. To view the definitions for the severity levels, click the link to the right of the field. 5. From the Issue Type drop-down list, select whether the question/problem is Technical or Application in nature. 6. Using 60 characters or less, type a brief explanation of your question/problem in the Subject field. 7. Enter specific details about your question/problem in the Question field. The information you enter here assists Deltek support in resolving your case. For example, if this is a 3

8 For Additional Information problem, enter your operating system and the steps you took prior to the problem occurring. 8. Attach any pertinent documents using the Attach Documents to Case section of the form. 9. Click Continue and answers to related questions appear. 10. Click a displayed answer to view the information. Do this if you think it pertains to your question/problem and may help. 11. If your question/problem still exists, click Finish Submitting Question. My Stuff/Case History You can also review any open issues you may have or your past support calls online. To view your support call history, complete the following steps: 1. From the e-support site main menu, click the My Stuff tab. 2. Click Case History to view questions/problems you've submitted previously. You can also update your user profile from the My Stuff tab. Clicking the Account Profile link displays a form that allows you to modify your preferences, user ID, and contact information. Support Analyst Chat The e-support site offers a direct and immediate link to a support analyst through the use of online chat. Experienced support analysts monitor our chat room and provide answers to your quick questions instantaneously, with no phone involved! To use Deltek s support chat room, complete the following steps: 1. From the e-support site main menu, click Live Help. The Chat with a Support Agent form displays. 2. Enter your name and address in the appropriate fields. 3. From the Chat Topic drop-down list, select the Deltek product you wish to chat about. 4. Click Submit Request to initiate a chat. The e-support site opens a chat window. 5. When a support representative is available, he or she will identify himself or herself. After the support representative initiates the chat, type your question in the chat window. Live Help is available Monday Friday: 09:00 AM 08:00 EDT. It is not available Saturday or Sunday. 4

9 winsight This section briefly discusses the documentation correction, software issues resolved, and database changes for winsight Documentation Correction The help system for winsight leaves out the following information about the Cumulative Element Performance Chart. Deltek Documentation regrets this omission. Cumulative Element Performance Chart The Cumulative Element Performance chart displays cumulative BCWS, BCWP, ACWP, BAC, and EAC for all past periods, as well as future period cumulative BCWS and ETC. Thus, it provides a start-to-finish view of performance for any element at any level. In the zoomed-out mode, the chart displays BAC and EAC as well as displaying all periods of data. In the zoomed-in mode, the chart displays the 12 most recent periods of data without BAC or EAC. For the Level 1 element (total contract), MR and UB BAC is evenly spread over the future periods and is included in the BCWS values plotted on the right side of the Time Now line. The chart s legend indicates the data point of all lines on the Time Now line. The following discussion focuses on the ACWP and ETC lines. For this discussion, assume that Jan 04 is the current reporting period. If ETC data only exists for future periods and forward (in other words, for Feb 04, Mar 04, and so on, then the ETC line starts from where the ACWP line ends. In this case, the values reported in the legend for ACWP and ETC are identical. The following figure of the Future Period-ETC spreadsheet in winsight Administrator shows the future period ETC data for the sample MOH-2 contract and illustrates this condition. Data entered in these columns will be plotted up to the Time Now line. However, if you enter ETC data in the Future Period-ETC spreadsheet for Jan 04 and before (in other words, Jan 04, Dec 03, Nov 03, and so on), it is plotted on the Cum Element Performance chart. Then the ETC line has its own data leading up to (and past) the Time Now line. More than likely, this will result in the ACWP and ETC lines not being the same at the Time Now line. By entering this data, you can compare how ACWP tracks against the ETC plan 5

10 winsight Software Issues Resolved This subsection includes summaries of the software issues resolved for this release. Selecting Filter with No Results You can now select a filter even if it does not return any results without encountering an error and causing winsight to shut down. Right-clicking anywhere on the Sort window displays related menu options. Extreme Chart Range Settings You can now enter extreme values in all fields on the Range dialog box without causing a chart to lock up and forcing winsight to hang. The ranges for each chart and for each user are saved in the local registry until they are changed. Database Changes There are no database changes for this release. 6

11 winsight Administrator This section briefly discusses the major new features, enhancements, software issues resolved, and database changes of winsight Administrator Major New Features This subsection includes summaries of all the new features included for this release. Report Generation Time Limits With the release, winsight offers a time limit option in generating all winsight Administrator and winsight Web reports. This feature allows you to specify a maximum number of minutes a report can take before the generation process cancels in winsight Administrator. By default, the time limit setting is turned off, or is set to zero (0). If the report generation exceeds the allotted time, an error message displays explaining the possible cause of a problem. For example: a large file size can cause a report to take longer than the specified time to generate; and the "@" symbol in a description causes the system to hang and the generation to fail. Click File» Reporting Options to specify the time limit in minutes. Delete Summary Data for a Single Period With the release, winsight Administrator provides a new script that allows you to select and delete summary data for a particular period. The script wizard has two screens. One screen describes the function of the script and the other screen lists the available contracts and periods. This enhancement is useful if you want to remove summary data for a single period only. In winsight Administrator, click Utilities» Run Script then select Delete Summary Data - Single Period. Enhancements This subsection includes summaries of the enhancements made to existing features in this release. Error Handling/Messaging Improvements winsight has been updated to address the need for improved error handling across the winsight application suite. This enhancement provides you with user-friendly error messages that clearly specify possible solutions to some of the most common errors. When you encounter data errors (known as idispatch errors) or when a report fails to generate, a brief explanation of a potential cause is now provided. In addition, import errors now accurately identify the location in the file where the error occurred. idispatch Errors The following are the most common data errors that you may encounter on winsight and winsight Administrator: 7

12 winsight Administrator idispatch Error 3119 This error displays a message informing you that a data cannot be saved due to duplicated values in a key field, such as WBS number, contract name, and structure. idispatch Error 3081 This error displays a message explaining that you do not have proper rights or permission to access necessary tables in the database. idispatch Error 3092 This error displays a message telling you that there is an error related to syntax used in communicating with the database. When you encounter this type of error, contact the Deltek Technical Support. When you come across any of these messages, winsight provides you with the following options: See detailed information about the error, including a technical description and/or a specific SQL command that causes the problem by clicking the Details button. Copy the error message and its details to the Windows clipboard by clicking the Copy icon. Import Line Item Errors When you encounter an error or warning during the import process, winsight now provides you with another column that displays the exact location in the file where the error occurs. This enhancement helps you identify and work through errors easily. In winsight Administrator, click Utilities» Import File. The Import Message Log dialog box, which contains log information, displays during the import process. Default Views winsight Administrator features two new default views in the Navigation pane and the Report pane to improve the application's usability. Report Default View winsight Administrator can display and print various reports, such as Cost Performance (CPR) reports, Cost/Schedule Status (C/SSR) reports, Cost Funding Status (CFSR) reports, and NASA reports. In this release, the default view of a report in the Reports data item is now set to All, which displays all pages of the report in vertical ascending order. This enhancement ensures that you do not miss any pages that you need in performing analysis of the actual data. You can still view a specific page by clicking Prev or Next. In the Navigation pane, expand the Reports data item, and double-click a report to see its default view. Cost Performance Reports (CPR) Format #2 Default Structure winsight Administrator provides two sets of CPR formats: one set is specified by the March 2005 Contract Performance Report DID and the other by the August 1996 Cost Performance Report DID. Each set has several forms that use a contract structure to collect earned value data. You can define an unlimited number of structures but you typically use one of the following for each form: Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) 8

13 Organizational Breakdown Structure (OBS) Integrated Product Team (IPT) By default, the WBS contract structure is commonly set for all forms. With this release, however, the default structure for CPR Format # 2 is set to OBS. This enhancement eliminates the need for you to set the correct contract structure for CPR Format # 2 each time you use the form. Generating NASA 533M Using ETC or BCWS Values winsight Administrator has been updated to support another option in generating the NASA 533M report in addition to the time-phased Budgeted Cost for Work Scheduled (BCWS) option. In this release, winsight Administrator provides you with two options in viewing a report: Using the time-phased Estimate to Complete (ETC) forecast, which is the standard method Using the time-phased BCWS forecast, which is the substitute method In the Navigation pane, click Reports» NASA 533M to view the report using either ETC or BCWS values. Change Blanks to Zeros In this release, winsight Administrator provides a script that changes blanks to zeros in the Earned Value spreadsheet. You use this script if current period values are not calculated after running Recalculate. This is especially true in the case where negative current period values are expected. You must recalculate after you run this script. Database Setup The Access databases (SAMPLE.MDB and BLANK64.MDB) of winsight 6.4 are configured to support the Change Blanks to Zeros script. The Oracle and SQL Server databases of winsight 6.4, however, require that the script be applied before the databases can support this feature. For Oracle databases, your database administrator must take the following actions: 1. Using SQL Plus or the equivalent, connect to an existing WINST database. The default login name is winst and the default password is winstpwd. 2. Run Change_blanks_to_zeros.sql, which can be found in the following location by default: C:\CSSI6\WSMDE\SCRIPTS\ORACLE\ For MS SQL Server databases, your database administrator must take the following actions: 1. Using Query Analyzer or the equivalent, connect to an existing WINST database. The default login name is winst and the default password is winstpwd. 2. Run Change_blanks_to_zeros.sql, which can be found in the following location by default: C:\CSSI6\WSMDE\SCRIPTS\MSSQL\ In winsight Administrator, click Utilities» Run Script then select Change Blanks to Zeros. 9

14 winsight Administrator Publish Periods winsight Administrator provides a script that can be used as an alternative to recalculating contracts affected by changes to user accounts, account permissions, or published level (PubLevel) settings. In winsight Administrator, click Utilities» Run Script then select Publish Periods. Software Issues Resolved This subsection includes summaries of the software issues resolved for this release. Removing Baseline Fields from the Baseline Analysis Chart You can now remove a Baseline field from the Baseline Analysis chart, and view the modified chart, without closing winsight. Viewing Manpower Data Spreadsheet or Any Reports Using Manpower Data winsight Administrator stopped working when you attempted to view either a Manpower Data spreadsheet or any reports using Manpower Data, and when the only available structure was WBS. You had to change the settings in WSA Contracts Table to calculate using WBS rather than OBS, which should be the default. In this release, an error message displays each time you try to create manpower data while no OBS structure is identified. Column 8 on NASA 533M Report Displayed BCWS Values Only In winsight Administrator, the column 8 (a, b, and c) on the NASA 533M report can now display either the time phased ETC value or the time phased BCWS value. Deleting All Summary Period Data for a Contract winsight Administrator had a built-in script that deleted all summary period data for a selected contract. The entire contract must then be recalculated. For large contracts, however, recalculation took a very long time. In this release, a script that can delete summary data for only one period has been added. Database Changes There are no database changes for this release. 10
