1 Quick Start 1.1 Step 1: Installation of the echolink Connect your unit, e.g. a S5 PLC and the echolink via serial interface. Connect the echolink via network interface (TP) to your LAN. 1.2 Downloading the parameterization software Insert the CDROM in the drive of your PC. If autostart is not activated on your PC, open the file start.exe or index.html. If autostart is activated, the following dialog window opens itself. Under Installation you will find the parameterization software Under Info/Demo you get to the download overview, where you receive INAT software and recent manuals Select Installation

10 Quick Start You are asked to start the file Paramnt.exe. Click Paramnt.exe to start the installation Save the file in a directory of your choice. Run the installation file Paramnt.exe. You will be conducted through the installation. 1.3 Step 3: Registration of the echolink in the network Start the parameterization software. The start dialog window opens. Four types of parameterization are offered here.

Quick Start 11 Type of parameterization Parameterization via IP Parameterization via H1 Serial Parameterization File offline Usecase If you work in a TCP/IP network and want to parameterize the echolink directly from any point on the network. If you work in a H1 network and want to parameterize the echolink directly from any point on the network. If you want to parameterize the echolink at the face. The echolink has to be connected with the PC via a serial transmission cable. The parameterization software has to be installed on the PC. If you want to parameterize the echolink offline. Use this type of parameterization if the echolink is not available from the network or the serial interface. Select the desired type of parameterization. Case 1: Parameterization via IP If you choose this type of parameterization the station list appears. The new echolink is recognized. It is shown with its MAC address.

12 Quick Start Doubleclick the station, you want to parameterize.the window Station Parameter Settings appears. Enter a name The Ethernet address is presetted! NOTE! Do not enter the values from this example. You have to ask your system administrator for the correct IP address and subnet mask Enter IP address and subnet mask Click OK. The echolink is registered now. Now you can parameterize connections.

Quick Start 13 Case 2: Parameterization via H1 If you choose this type of parameterization the station list appears. The new echolink is recognized. It is shown with its MAC address. Doubleclick the station, you want to parameterize. The empty connection lest appears Under Station click Current station 1.. The connection list is empty, because up to now no conenctions have been parameterized

14 Quick Start The window Station Parameter Settings appears. Enter a name The Ethernet address is presetted! NOTE! Do not enter the values from this example. You have to ask your system administrator for the correct IP address and subnet mask Enter IP address and subnet mask Click OK. The echolink is registered now. Now you can parameterize connections.

Quick Start 15 Case 3: Serial parameterization The echolink can be parameterized via the serial interface. Therefore you need a serial transmission cable (file transfer cable). Put this cable to the COM1 port of the echolink. Put the far end of the cable to COM1 or COM2 of your PC. Select COM1 or COM2, depending on where the transmission cable is plugged! NOTE! For the serial parameterization, you should use the COM1 port of the (prerequisite: your echolink is equipped with RS 232 on COM1) Click OK. The empty connection list appears Under Station click Current Station 1.. The connection list is empty, because up to now. no conenctions have been parameterized

16 Quick Start The window Station Parameter Settings appears. Enter a name The Ethernet address is presetted! NOTE! Do not enter the values from this example. You have to ask your system administrator for the correct IP address and subnet mask Enter IP address and subnet mask Click OK. the echolink is parameterized now and you can parameterize connections.

Quick Start 17 Case 3: File (offline) If you choose File (offline) the following window appears. Here you can read a connection file Under Look in you select the drive and the directory in which the connection file is located Click Open The main window shows the connection files located on the current path. Mark the desired connection file It is also possible to create a new connection file: Under File name enter the desired name of the connection file. You have to use the ending *.NET. Click Open Under File Type select the desired directory, where the connection file shall be located

18 Quick Start The window to select the system appears. The automatical identification does not work with offline parameterization. You have to select the system to be parameterized Click the button echolink. The empty connection list appears. Under Station click Current Station 1..

Quick Start 19 The window Station Parameter Settings appears. Enter a name The Ethernet address is presetted! NOTE! Do not enter the values from this example. You have to ask your system administrator for the correct IP address and subnet mask Enter IP address and subnet mask Click OK. the echolink is registered now and you can parameterize connections.

20 Quick Start The station list appears The window to select the COM port appears The window to Read/ create the connection file appears All new stations are indicated automatically. They are shown with their MAC address. Doubleclick on the new station Select COM1 or COM2 of the PC, depending on where you have put the transmission cable. Click the button OK Open a existing file or create a new one. Click OK The window to select the system appears. Select echolink The empty connection list appears Click Current station adapter 1.. under Station The station parameter settings window appears.

2 Parameterization You have registered the in your network. Now you want to parameterize connections. The procedure to parameterize connections is always the same, no matter if you parameterize serial, online or offline. The only difference is, that at online parameterization the stations in the network are indicated on the left site of the connection list. At serial or offline parameterization you don t see these connections. 2.1 How to parameterize connections New connection Select the station to be parameterized and you will get to the connection list. In the head of the window, you can see which station is selected at the moment. (here echolink with the name Echo Link5 Support). To create a new connection, click New under Connection. The following window appears:

22 Parameterization Conenction name All parameterization data are allocated to the connections. Each connection is identified by a connection name. A connection name may contain all characters including blanks. The names may be up to 32 characters in length. Network Select the network H1 or TCP/IP COM Protocol This dialogue offers several serial protocols Telnet, IPC 620, 3964R, Fetch/Write -> PG or MPI (Sucom3 and Modbus RTU on demand) COM Line If you use the with 5 serial interfaces select the interface to be parameterized.

Parameterization 23 Enter a connection name, select the protocol, COM Line and COM port and click OK. The window to edit the TCP/IP- or H1 parameters appears (depending on which network type you have chosen) Editing the network parameters The parameters you enter here are transferred to the unit via the network or serial (online or serial parameterization). At offline parameterization, the parameters are saved to the current file. H1 network parameters Connection name TCP/IP network parameters You already have given the connection a name. This name is shown in this window. TCP/IP active H1 active This indicates, which protocol is active at the moment. Dest. Ethernet Address Dest. IP Address The destination address only has to be entered, if the connection is active. If the connection is passive, this field can remain empty

24 Parameterization H1 network parameters Ethernet address parameters are binary. They can assume all byte states from hex 0 to hex FF. The partner station (e.g., a PLC) is determined with the address. Such an Ethernet address is always 6 characters in length. The first three characters are specified by the manufacturer of the target system. These bytes are assigned centrally by the IEEE Committee. If no such manufacturer's code is assigned, make sure that the first byte is an even number (i.e., it should be divisible by two without remainder). The last three bytes can be assigned as desired. A network may not contain several stations with the same Ethernet address. TSAPs The own TSAP (i.e., Transport Service Access Point) specifies the connection address in the own system via which the data are to be communicated. The partner TSAP determines the connection address of the other system. When establishing the connection, remember that the own TSAP must correspond to the partner TSAP of the other system. This requirement is easy to adhere to if own and partner TSAP have the same values. The length of a TSAP is often 8 bytes, but it can also vary from 1 to 16 bytes. SINEC systems use the value 20 for the first 3 bytes. TCP/IP network parameters The IP address is a 32-bit number, specified in four groups of numbers. Each number may be from 0 to 255. The groups are seperated by a dot. If you want to use conventional names for the TCP/IP addresses instead of numbers, you must specify the address of at least one domain name server (i.e., DNS). This server converts all symbolic TCP/IP addresses to numbers. Port The port number is a 16-bit address from 0 to It specifies the channel via which the applicable connection is to be established. It is a parallel to the TSAP for H1 connections. Port numbers 0 to 255 should not be used since these are already being used by the so-called well-known ports.

Parameterization 25 H1 network parameters CR Params The CR parameters specify the operating mode of the destination system. The contents of these parameters are not specified anywhere. They depend on the destination system. Check the user's guide of the destination system to determine what, if anything, must be entered here. If no information is available, no CR parameters should be entered. Connection active / passive Protocol TCP / UDP The TCP (i.e., Transmission Control Protocol) is a secure protocol with checksum and acknowledgment. UDP (i.e., User Datagram Protocol) is not protected. It is handled by datagram services. We recommend selecting the TCP protocol. Select the type of connection establishment (i.e., which station is to initiate connection establishment). If a link to a host has been parameterized, the echolink is usually parameterized as passive and the host as active. At regular intervals, the active station attempts to set up the appropriate connection. Multicast Multicast connections are connections which are not directed to all stations and which only address the stations which have the same Multicast circle number. The number is between 0 and 63. If Multicast is not selected as the Linetype the value for Multicast circle can be disregarded. TCP/IP network parameters PLC Header For the data transmission a special PLC Header has been created. This PLC Header prepares the telegrams of the TCP/IP data stream for the use in the PLC. The default setting of the PLC Header is activated.

26 Parameterization H1 network parameters Line type Broadcast: the frames of this connection will be sent to all stations Multicast: a certain group of stations is to be reached Normal: secure connection is to be used Datagram: the data are to be transferred without protection Priority 0 and 1: express priorities 2 and 3: normal priorities 4: is only used infrequently since a new connection must be established for each sending job. If used infrequently, this priority does not place as much of a strain on the network as other priorities since the line is not monitored (i.e., the connection is disconnected after each sending job). TCP/IP network parameters Life Data ACKs With Life Data ACKs, the connection monitoring function is activated. The Life Data ACKs are bound to the PLC Header, i.e. the PLC Header has to be active. Interruptions like cable break can be indicated very fast. In a LAN this type of monitoring is recommendable. If you are using connections via Internet (WAN), the connection monitoring is very expensive. RFC1006 With the activation of RFC1006 the H1 frames, which have to be transmitted, are implemented in a TCP/IP-frame. With that special TCP/IP channel you are able to communicate with the Siemens CPs of the S5 and S7 series. There are special rules for the ISO parameters Own TSAP and Partner TSAP : The entries in the TSAPs have to be two signs length but not more than eight signs. More settings More settings means special parameters of a connection. Normally you don t need them.

Parameterization Editing protocol specific parameters After editing the network parameters a window for other parameters opens. Editing the protocol specific parameters. Here: Fetch Write -> Pg connection. In the online help, you will find a description in detail Monitor connections With the INAT parameterization software, it is possible to monitor the connection status. Under Diagnosis, there are two possibilities. Display conenction status Monitor all conenctions

28 Parameterization Display connection status This window is used to monitor one connection. echolink converts between serial and network site. Due to that the display is split in a serial site and a network site. In the head, you see the name of the connection Last error shows the last communication fault Status shows the current connection status The number of sent and received frames and bytes is indicated Monitor all connections With the button monitor all connections the connection window is replaced by the online display of all connections.
