2 DEViewer. General information.. Purpose PC-3000 EXPRESS / UDMA / PORTABLE ACE Laboratory DE Viewer is intended for the customers whose data are being recovered using the PC-3000 software and hardware suite. The program can be used to select the information that needs to be restored depending on the feasibility of data recovery from a damaged drive. The program opens the report file sent from a service center and containing information about the data read from a drive. This file holds information about the directories and files read from a single partition of the drive in question. Main features of the program: opportunity to select the directories and files, which should be restored; opportunity to add comments to any file or folder; sending of the result back to the service center..2. Program specifics The program was designed with the intention to simplify the interface as mush as possible making it similar to Windows Explorer. The program requires no installation. Operations with the international encodings are supported. Directory- and file-based search is supported..3. Hardware and software requirements The program requires a personal computer with at least an Intel Pentium III CPU or an equivalent model from AMD and at least GB RAM, operating system Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, x86, x Getting started 2.. First program launch DE Viewer starts from its standalone executable file DEViewer.exe. 2

3 PC-3000 EXPRESS / UDMA / PORTABLE ACE Laboratory DEViewer Interface The upper left corner of the program window contains the buttons for operations with the report file, which allow 0 to: open report file, save changes, and prepare the results for sending back. Below you can see the directory tree. To the right of the tree, you can see the directory contents pane with the navigation toolbar and search box along the top. Saving of intermediate results The intermediate results of customer operations in the program are saved automatically during correct exit, but you can save intermediate results by clicking the button Preparing the results for sending Clicking the button saves the results of your operations to a file named identically to the database file and supplemented with the _Export.roa postfix. Send the file back to the service center. 3. Description of program functionality 3.. Selection After the report file is opened, you can select the files and folders, which should be restored. An item is selected by clicking the area to the left of its name with the mouse or pressing the Space key if the necessary file or directory is already highlighted. Selection can be performed both in the directory tree and in the directory contents pane (at the right window side). 3

Just select the necessary file or directory and start entering the text in the Your comment to file text field. The comment will be saved automatically. Files and folders with the comments are marked by a special icon in a lower part of file icon 4

The search box can be found 0 on the toolbar above the directory contents pane. 0 In the search box, you can use standard Windows search methods including the "*" wildcard. For example, the "*.txt" query will display all files with the specified extension, the "*program*" query will return all files with the names containing the "program" string, Program Files for example. You can specify multiple file names in the search field using a comma or semicolon as a separator: To search for necessary objects, just press the Enter key or click the button Search In addition to quick name-based search, you can also search for directories or files using their other properties. To open the search window, click the button and specify the necessary search parameters in the displayed window, including search by name, by date (of creation, changing, opening), search by size, an search by few additional parameters. 5

6 DEViewer Search in names PC-3000 EXPRESS / UDMA / PORTABLE ACE Laboratory Searching in names is similar to quick search with one exception: you can also use the button, which adds the sought file name to the list below making easier queries for multiple file names. You can also exclude some files from the search scope by entering their names in the list to the right Search by date Each file and folder has a date of its creation, modification and last access. You can specify a certain range for each of these values while searching Search by size You can specify the size of the sought file. The dialog offers for that purpose two fields where you can enter the minimum and maximum file size. If you skip one of the fields, the file size will not be limited from that side. You can also select the size measurement units. By default, size is measured in kilobytes Additional search parameters You can specify additional parameters, such as Search all files; search deleted files; search not deleted files. You can also specify the directory where the search should be performed. Note. Highlighted directory is the one selected in the directory tree when the search window opens Data output setting By default, the number of files and folders displayed per page is 000, but you can define a custom value. Attention. The program can work slow if the number of files and folders displayed per page is more than 3000, and you and you can see an appropriate message about it. Note. In quick search mode the number of displayed items is equal to that of complete search and so initially it is also set to
