2 INTRODUCTION The present guide was developed to show you how to build your personal Racing Drone. The model we will be assembling together is named the Falcon CP-90. This is a 90-mm sized micro drone capable of transmitting real-time video in the First-Person-View modality (FPV). Despite it s size this drone is capable of develop considerable speed and must be treated with care to avoid injuries. WARNING! When building, configuring or performing any repairs on your drone make sure you have removed the propellers, failure to do so may represent potential risks for yourself and your surroundings, always follow the safety guidelines. RC receiver (RCx) ASSEMBLY PROCESS 1. Prepare the 90-mm bottom plate, the aluminium blocks, and 2 M2x 9.5mm screws. Page 3 of 22

5 2. Pass one screw through the central hole located at the front and rear of the bottom plate, then screw the aluminum block into place, the aluminum block and the bottom plate shape must match. Install the second block in the same way. 3. Install the Electronic Speed Controller board. Make sure the surface that contains the copper pads along the sides is installed facing up. Page 4 of 22

6 4. Install the M2 x 6.5 mm standoffs 5. Install the Main power supply. To install the power supply we will have to take a look at the ESC board layout. Page 5 of 22

7 The battery cable must be installed on the pads that are labeled Input and Input +, the black wire goes on the (-) red wire goes on (+). The main power supply cable points towards the front (as depicted by the red arrow). 6. Motors installation. There are 4 groups of pads that correspond to a specific motor. For example the Motor 1 label is touching the pad B but pads A and C are part of the same motor pad group. As you may have noticed now each motor has 3 wires, the order of the wires is irrelevant when soldering them to the board but for aesthetic purposes we will install them in the order they come out of the motor. 8 You ll need to preapred the pads with solder, remember the soldering technique lesson; you must apply the perfect amount of solder, not too much, not too few. Once you have all the pads pre-tined, you can start introducing the motor wires. Place the motor upside-down, and above the board, so you can solder them form the outside (see picture). Page 7 of 22

9 Now flip the motor and place it on the arm, giving a clean and safe look. Repeat the process with the other 3 motors Page 8 of 22

10 7. Flight controller preparation. First you must install the Video transmitter. The VTx comes with 3 soldered wires, these are Yellow (Video signal), Red (+5V), and Black (Ground). Install the correspondent wire on the flight controller. Prepare the VTx pads on the flight controller Page 9 of 22

11 And solder the wires pointing towards the center of the board place the VTx on the flight controller using the plastic mount. And the screws that come with it. Page 10 of 22

12 Use the PH-0 screw driver to install the plastic mount. The fligth controller has a series of pins pre-soldered, you must match these pins with the connector on the ESC board. Page 11 of 22

13 Once installed properlly, the board should match the standoffs mounting holes. The next step is to install the RC receiver (RCx), use a piece of tape to hold the RCx in place and install the wires in the order showed in the picture. RC SIGNAL +5v Bind Button Gnd Page 12 of 22

14 Install the corresponding pad on the flight controller with the wires pointing towards the center of the board. Before proceeding to the next step you must bind your RCx to your Remote controller (Refer to the RCx bind procedure). Install the VTx with with the antenna pointing to the front FRONT 8. Take one lateral plate and a couple of M2 x 5 mm screws. Align the plate like in the picture Page 13 of 22

15 Use the hexagonal/allen key 1.5 mm so tighten the screws. 9. Install the camera by screwing one 4mm self-tapping screw, use the PH-1 Screwdriver. Be careful not to over tight the screw or you may strip the mounting screw hole on the camera. Page 14 of 22

16 10. Install the front and rear cover. Prepare 2 x 4mm self-tapping screws. Place the front cover and tighten the screw, be careful not to put excesive force when screwing. Use the PH-1 Screwdriver 11. Place the RCx behind the camera and make sure the VTx antenna is positioned like in the picture. 12. Pass the VTx antenna trhough the big hole and the RCx antenna through the small one. Page 15 of 22

17 13. Tighten the rear cover with a 4mm self-tapping screw. Use the PH-1 Screwdriver. 14. Prepare the second lateral plate and 2 x M2 x 5 mm screws. Install like the previous one Page 16 of 22

19 Final Result Congratulations you have completed the Falcon CP-90 Assembly! What s next? Now is time to configure and tune the drone in Betaflight, then set up the FPV video system. Page 18 of 22

22 Notes: 1. ABC (letters in red) stand for frequency group (letters in green) stand for frequency value or channel stands for light turned On, X stands for turn light turned Off. Operation Instructions: 1. Short press the white button to switch channels from 1 to 8 2. Press and hold the white button for 2s to enter the frequency group setting. Once in frequency mode, short press the button to switch between frequency groups. 3. Press and hold the button for 2s to exit frequency mode.
