My Surveys: Shows you the surveys you have created, with opfons to Edit, see Results, Send out links (use on SONA), and collaborate with others Create Survey: Allows you to create a new survey Edit Survey: Allows you to edit the survey Distribute Survey: Allows you to send survey link, the survey, link in social media View Results: You can see the results from your survey and search within the results, as well as download data

4 Create A New Survey You can use previous surveys from the Library You can create a survey based on an exisfng survey you ve used You can also create a new survey

5 Create a New Survey Name your survey- make sure you can understand what it is from the descripfon Select which file it should go under

6 QuesFon Types You can insert various items into your survey at any point When you scroll over the opfon, an example will appear. And remember, you can change the format later, too. DescripFve Text will allow you to write an introducfon to the study, instrucfons, or anything else. Graphics allow you to insert a picture You also have a few opfons for standard quesfons.

7 MulFple Choice There are many different types of mulfple choice quesfons, so it is easy to choose the one that is right for you. Select box: parfcipants can choose one item from a box. MulFple SelecFon Box: ParFcipants may select all that apply Dropdown list: ParFcipant can click and select from a list Single Answer, Horizontal: ParFcipant must choose one answer from given, answers appear horizontally Single Answer, Horizontal, Graphic: same as above, but images as opfons The same logic applies to the rest of the selecfons. MulFple answer means that parfcipants may choose any or all of the selecfons.

8 Matrix Table You can also make tables of quesfons with the matrix opfon. There is also opfons for wri[en responses (text entry). Matrix will be helpful when you don t need random orders, when you would like to block many quesfons together, or when you can index quesfons.

9 You can also have text entry for free response; feelings sliders which can be integral or confnuous; rank order which can be manual dragging, include graphics, selecfon or free response; and side by side, which you can have the same evaluafon for many different opfons, such as frequency of pizza places.

10 Specialty QuesFons Constant sums allows parfcipants to input the percent of (Fme, money, resources, etc.) they spend on certain items; Pick, group, and Rank allows parfcipants to sort items into groups that are predefined, defined by parfcipant, or create by parfcipants (determine number of groups); Hot Spot allows parfcipants to click parts of text or images that they like or dislike; Heat Map allows parfcipants to click of areas of images that stand out the most to create a composite to scores; sliding scale puts text in various locafons over a sliding scale (can use image); See example of gap analysis below; drill down allows for hierarchical categorizafons (e.g., make and model of car); we can also check the Fming the parfcipant spends on each page as well as meta analysis of their browser informafon, etc.

11 A]er selecfng a quesfon type You can always go back and change the item type. Select how many choices the parfcipant will choose from Choose whether there is single or mulfple answers as well as forced response Right click on the text to get to Rick Text Editor, where you can edit more of the quesfon forma^ng Reorder the quesfons Copy the quesfons to keep the same choices, but with different quesfons

12 RandomizaFon Click on the se^ngs bu[on. No RandomizaFon: your quesfons will appear as they are in the editor Randomize the order of all the choices: there will be no fixed start, middle, or end. Present only of total choices: will randomly present a certain number of the quesfons. Advanced RandomizaFon See next page

13 Advanced RandomizaFon In fixed display order, you can see all your quesfons. You can then select quesfons and move them to the other categories: Randomize choices: will randomize and then insert all the items you have selected This can be done with choices within a quesfon and for the order of quesfons Random subset: From the quesfons you have selected, it will choose a certain number at random to include Undisplayed items: the quesfons will not appear

14 AcFvaFon Once you have built the survey, you must acfvate it. Under My Surveys, click the grey box next to the survey name so that it turns green.

15 DistribuFon You can get an link for the survey which can be sent through or used on a website, such as SONA The link is anonymous, so no idenffying informafon will be collected except for the IP address. The survey will be saved as progress is made, so parfcipants can close the window and come back to complete

16 Scoring Qualtrics can also be used to prescreen parfcipants for Sona. When they complete the Qualtrics survey, it will be automafcally scored. Those who pass will be sent an and the invitafon code to sign up for the session on Sona. This can be found under Advanced opfons, Scoring, Gradeà Auto
