1 ET-PIC STAMP 18F8722-K22 ET-PIC STAMP 18F8722-K22 is Board Microcontroller in a series of PIC18F87K22 80-Pin TQFP from Microchip. It designs I/O of MCU on board to interface with CONNECTOR in the format of DIP TYPE, so it is more convenient to use; moreover, it allocates 2-CH Connector RS232 that has already passed the Line Driver and 1-CH Connector Power Supply. It provides Connector RJ11 for downloading program into board; in this case, it has to download program by Programmer ET-PGM PIC (PICkit3) or ICD3 through Connector RJ11 only. 3 1. SW-Reset: It is Switch RESET to reset MCU. 2. Con-RJ11-Download: It is Connector to download program into MCU; in this case, it has to interface together with Programmer ET-PGM PIC (PICkit3) or ICD3 to download program. 3. LED1-PWR: It is LED to display the operating status of Power Supply for board. 4. LED-PGM: It is LED to display the status when entering Program Mode (PGM). It is lit up when SW-MODE is pressed, it is the status that user will download Code Program into MCU. 5. LED-RUN: It is LED to display the status when entering RUN Mode. It is lit up when SW-MODE is not pressed; it is the status that runs the program in MCU. 6. SW-MODE: It is Switch to choose between downloading program into MCU (Download Mode) or running program in MCU (RUN Mode). When Press-SW = Mode-Download Program ( SW. ) Release-SW = Mode-Run Program ( ) SW. 7. Jumper-RS232-I/O: It is Jumper to choose RS232-CH1 or I/O PIN RC6,RC7. If choosing Connector RS232-CH1, it has to set Jumper to the position of RS232; or, if choosing I/O PIN PC6 and RC7 at Connector I/O, it has to set Jumper to the position of I/O as shown in the picture below; RC6 I/O RS232 RC7 Setting Jump for RS232-CH1 RC6 I/O RS232 RC7 Setting Jump for I/O-RC6, RC7 8. Con-I/O: It is all Connector I/O Pin of MCU that is interfaced easily and all Port Pin s name has been printed on the board completely. User can see Pin s name of Peripheral devices in MCU that is used with Port Pin I/O from the Pin Structure of MCU in the next topic. 9. Con-RS232 CH2: It is Connector 4PIN for Port RS232 Channel 2 to transmitreceive data between MCU and PC or other MCU numbers that have been connected through Line Driver completely. While using, user needs to think of the connective device on another side that should interface with IC Line Driver completely because it makes the communication successful. 4 10. Con-Power 5V, +5V, GND: It is Con-Power 5V that only provides DC-5V for board. Or, user may use Connector +5V and GND that are interfaced with Connector I/O to be Connector Power Supply for board. In this case, user needs to choose only one position; moreover, it is not allowed to reversely connect and it only is DC 5V. +5V GND PIN Position of Power 5V 11. Con-RS232 CH1: It is Connector 4PIN for Port RS232 Channel 1 to transmitreceive data between MCU and PC or other MCU numbers that have been connected through Line Driver completely. 5 How to Download Program Manual of Board ET-PIC STAMP 18F8722-K22 Even though it uses any Compiler or Editor to write data for this Board ET-PIC STAMP 18F8722-K22, user always compiles it after wrote the program completely; user will get File surname.hex and then download this hex file later. While downloading, it requires following devices; 1.) PIC Programmer must be model ET-PGM PIC (PICkit3) or ICD3 only. 2.) Program for downloading such as MPLAB8 or MPLABX; it is particularly installed in the part of Editor or IDE that is only used to download. In this case, it is unnecessary to install any program in Compiler. Both programs that are mentioned above are provided in CD. This manual illustrates how to download program by using Programmer ET-PGM PIC and it uses Program MPLABX to download as described below; 1) Particularly install Program Download MPLABX in Folder Editer_MPLABX as described below; - Double-click File MPLABX-v1_70-windows-installer.exe, a window Setup appears as shown in the picture below; and, click Next>. - Choose I accept the agreement and Click Next>. 6 - Choose location to install this program and then click Next> as shown in the picture below; - Click Next> to start installing program. ETT CO., LTD -6-

7 - When installed the program successfully, a window appears as shown in the picture below. Next, remove the check sign from the box because it does not require installing Compiler, it only uses the part of Download. Finally, click Finish to end the program installation. - When installed the program successfully, there are 3 new ICON on the desktop; MPLAB driver switcher ( ), MPLAB X IDE V1.70 ( ), and MPLAB IPE ( ). 2.) When interfaced Board ET-PIC STAMP 18F8722-K22 with Programmer ET-PGMPIC through Connector RJ11; interfaced Cable USB of Programmer to USB of PC; and finally, provided 5V Power Supply for Board ET-PIC STAMP 18F8722-K22 completely as shown in the picture below, user can see that LED-PWR is lit up when providing Power Supply and LED-RUN is lit up when SW-MODE is not pressed yet. 8 3.) Press Switch Mode to enter Program Mode (PGM), user sees that LED-RUN is off but LED-PGM is lit up instead. 4.) Run Program MPLAB IPE ( ) that has previously been installed; this program is used to download Source Code that is Hex file. When the program is run and it is connected with Programmer successfully, it shows the list of the connective Programmers in the box of Tool; moreover, there is a green light that means it connected Programmer with Program Download successfully. 5.) Setup values as follows; Family: Advanced 8-bit MCUs (PIC18), Device: PIC18F87K22 Tool: Choose list of Programmer that is currently connected ETT CO., LTD -8-

9 6.) Click Apply after setup values completely and then click Connect. Wait for a moment, a window appears as shown in the picture below, and click Yes. ETT CO., LTD -9-

10 7.) After clicked Yes, a window appears as shown in the picture below. Please look at all buttons inside the window are all enabled (Enable) such as Program, Erase, or Read. Now, it is ready to download Code. 8.) Click Browse behind the box of Source: to add the location that stores the Hex File for downloading into Program Download. When Hex File is loaded, it shows Link of Hex File in the box of Source: and it shows the message Hex file loaded successfully in the box of Output as shown in the picture below. The Example HEX File that is used to load is the Example of ETT that is provided with CD; user can add File name Ex1_IO_Blinking.hex. This example program runs in the format of blinking light through every Port of MCU. NOTE: Every time user would like to program Code Hex File, user always browses new Hex File although the position of HEX File that is shown in the box of Source: is still the same. Otherwise, the Hex File that is loaded is still the old one; it is not new file that is updated from the written program of user. ETT CO., LTD

11 9.) After browsed the Hex File into the program completely, click Button Program. The written program will be loaded into MCU and it shows message Programming complete in the box of Output that means it downloaded successfully. ETT CO., LTD

12 Before programming, user can click Button Erase to erase the old program in Flash memory of MCU first, or user can program instantly without erasing. 9.) After downloaded the Hex File completely and user requires seeing the operation of the loaded program, user can press and release SW.MODE on Board ET-PIC STAMP 18F8722-K22 to enter RUN Mode; in this case, LED-RUN is lit up but LED-PGM is off. Finally, the program that is loaded into MCU starts running. If user loaded the example of blinking light as mentioned above, user may connect LED Pin Anode(+) with any Port Pin on board and the connects LED Pin Cathode(-) into Ground; and finally, user can see the LED is blinking according to the written program. The example program that is provided with CD is C Language, it is written by Program CCS and the operation and Circuit of each example is described as COMMENT at the header of program. The device that is used to develop and download program is in Folder Tool and C Language that is provided is Demo CCS. For other information of program, please read from ReadMe.txt in Folder Tool.
