Prerequisites for Upgrding vrelize Automtion Before you upgrde, vrelize Automtion to 7.3 or 7.3.1, review the following prerequisites. Upon upgrde, existing license keys re removed from the dtse. Although generl support for vcloud Networking nd Security 5.5.x (vcns) ended in Septemer 2016, the VCNS custom properties continue to e vlid for NSX purposes. 9 Complete these steps if you re upgrding distriuted environment configured with n emedded PostgreSQL dtse. c d Exmine the files in the pgdt directory on the mster host efore you upgrde the replic hosts. Nvigte to the PostgreSQL dt folder on the mster host t /vr/vmwre/vpostgres/current/pgdt/. Close ny opened files in the pgdt directory nd remove ny files with.swp suffix. Verify tht ll files in this directory hve correct ownership: postgres:users. You must review Knowledge Bse rticle nd perform ny relevnt fixes to your environments prior to upgrde. Considertions Aout Upgrding to This vrelize Automtion Version vrelize Automtion 7 nd lter introduces vrious functionl chnges during nd fter the upgrde process. You should review these chnges efore you upgrde your vrelize Automtion 6.2.x deployment to the new version. Review the following considertions efore you upgrde. Upgrde nd Identity Applince Specifictions During the vrelize Automtion upgrde process, you nswer prompts to upgrde the identity pplince. The trget deployment uses the VMwre Identity Mnger. Upgrde nd Licensing During the upgrde, your existing vrelize Automtion licenses, nd ny vcloud Suite 6.x licenses tht you hve, re removed. You must reenter your licenses in the vrelize Automtion 7.3 or vrelize Automtion pplince mngement console. You now use vrelize Automtion licensing for virtul pplinces nd IS y entering license key informtion in the vrelize Automtion pplince. Licensing informtion is no longer ville in the IS user interfce nd IS no longer performs licensing checks. Endpoints nd quots re enforced through the end-user license greements (EULAs). Note Write down your vcloud Suite 6.x license key if you used it for vrelize Automtion efore the upgrde. Upon upgrde, existing license keys re removed from the dtse. Understnding How Roles Are Upgrded When you upgrde vrelize Automtion, your orgniztion's existing role ssignments re mintined. If you encounter reconfigure prolems when updting mchine properties such s CPU nd RAM in deployment, see Knowledge Bse rticle vra 7.x Blueprint Snpshotting. For more informtion out upgrding lueprints, see Upgrde nd vapp Blueprints, vcloud Endpoints, nd vcloud Reservtions nd Understnding How Multi-Mchine Blueprints Are Upgrded. Upgrde nd vapp Blueprints, vcloud Endpoints, nd vcloud Reservtions You cnnot upgrde deployment tht contins vapp (vcloud) endpoints. The presence of vapp (vcloud) endpoints prevents upgrde to this vrelize Automtion version. VMwre, Inc. 10

If the endpoints list contins vapp (vcloud) endpoints, you cnnot upgrde to this vrelize Automtion version. Mnged vapps for vcloud Air or vcloud Director resources re not supported in the trget vrelize Automtion environment. Note The following pprovl policy types re deprected. If they pper in the list of ville pprovl policy types fter upgrde is finished, they re unusle. Service Ctlog - Ctlog Item Request - vapp Service Ctlog - Ctlog Item Request - vapp Component You cn crete vcloud Air nd vcloud Director endpoints nd reservtions in the trget deployment. You cn lso crete lueprints with vcloud Air or vcloud Director virtul mchine components. Understnding How Multi-Mchine Blueprints Are Upgrded You cn upgrde mnged service, multi-mchine lueprints from supported vrelize Automtion 6.2.x version deployment. When you upgrde multi-mchine lueprint, component lueprints re upgrded s seprte singlemchine lueprints. The multi-mchine lueprint is upgrded s composite lueprint in which its previous children lueprints re nested s seprte lueprint components. The upgrde cretes single composite lueprint in the trget deployment tht contins one virtul mchine component for ech component lueprint in the source multi-mchine lueprint. If lueprint hs setting tht is not supported in the new version, the lueprint is upgrded nd set to drft sttus. For exmple, if the multi-mchine lueprint contins privte network profile, upgrde ignores the profile setting, nd the lueprint is upgrded in drft stte. You cn edit the drft lueprint to enter supported network profile informtion nd pulish it. Note If pulished lueprint in the source deployment is upgrded to drft sttus lueprint, the lueprint is no longer prt of service or entitlement. After you updte nd pulish the lueprint in the upgrded vrelize Automtion version, you must recrete its needed pprovl policies nd entitlements. Some multi-mchine lueprint settings re not supported in the trget vrelize Automtion deployment, including privte network profiles nd routed network profiles with ssocited PLR edge settings. If you hve used custom property to specify PLR edge settings (VCNS.LodBlncerEdgePool.Nmes), the custom property is upgrded. VMwre, Inc. 11

12 You cn upgrde multi-mchine lueprint with vsphere endpoints nd NSX network nd security settings. The upgrded lueprint contins NSX network nd security components in the design cnvs. Note Routed gtewy specifictions for multi-mchine lueprints, s defined in reservtions, re upgrded. However, the trget vrelize Automtion deployment does not support reservtions for routed profiles tht contin ssocited PLR edge settings. If the source reservtion contins routed gtewy vlue for PLR edge, the reservtion is upgrded ut the routed gtewy setting is ignored. As result, the upgrde genertes n error messge in the log file nd the reservtion is disled. During upgrde, spces nd specil chrcters re removed from referenced network nd security component nmes. Note vrelize Automtion 7.x tkes lueprint snpshot t deployment. If you encounter reconfigure prolems when updting mchine properties such s CPU nd RAM in deployment, see Knowledge Bse rticle vra 7.x Blueprint Snpshotting. Depending on the setting type, the network nd security informtion is cptured s severl different settings in the new lueprint. Settings for the overll lueprint on its properties pge. This informtion includes pp isoltion, trnsport zone, nd routed gtewy or NSX edge reservtion policy informtion. Aville settings for vsphere virtul mchine components in NSX network nd security components in the design cnvs. Settings in the network nd security ts of individul vsphere virtul mchine components in the design cnvs. Upgrde nd Physicl Endpoints, Reservtions, nd Blueprints You cnnot upgrde deployment tht contins physicl endpoints. If physicl endpoints re present, the vrelize Automtion upgrde process fils. Upgrde fils on the mster virtul pplince when the vrelize Automtion 6.2.x deployment hs physicl endpoint. A filure messge ppers in the migrtion interfce nd log. To determine if your vrelize Automtion 6.2.x deployment hs physicl endpoint, log in to vrelize Automtion s n IS dministrtor user. Select Infrstructure > Endponts nd review the endpoints list. If the list hs Pltform Type Physicl endpoint, you cnnot upgrde to vrelize Automtion 7.0 nd lter. Physicl endpoints, reservtions, nd virtul mchine components in lueprints re not supported in vrelize Automtion 7.0 nd lter. Upgrde nd Network Profile Settings Privte network profiles re not supported in vrelize Automtion 7 nd lter. These profiles re ignored during the upgrde. Routed network profiles with ssocited PLR edge settings re lso not supported in vrelize Automtion 7 nd lter. These profiles re lso ignored during the upgrde. VMwre, Inc. 12

13 The privte network profile type is not supported in vrelize Automtion 7 nd lter. When the vrelize Automtion upgrde process finds privte network profile in the source deployment, it ignores the network profile. Lod lncers tht reference those privte networks re lso ignored during upgrde. The sme upgrde conditions re true for routed network profile with ssocited PLR edge settings. Neither network profile configurtion is upgrded. If reservtion contins privte network profile, the privte network profile setting is ignored during upgrde. The reservtion is upgrded s disled in the trget deployment. If reservtion contins routed network profile with ssocited PLR edge settings, the routed network profile specifiction is ignored during upgrde. The reservtion is upgrded s disled in the trget deployment. For informtion out upgrding multi-mchine lueprint tht contins network settings, see Understnding How Multi-Mchine Blueprints Are Upgrded. Upgrde nd Entitled Actions You cnnot upgrde virtul mchine ctions. The ctions tht you cn perform on provisioned virtul mchines, sed on lueprint specifictions, re not upgrded. To recrete the ctions you cn perform on virtul mchine, customize the entitlements for lueprints to enle only certin ctions. Upgrde nd Custom Properties All the custom properties tht vrelize Automtion supplies re ville in the upgrded deployment. Custom properties nd property groups re upgrded. Terminology nd Relted Chnges All the uild profiles tht you creted in the source deployment re upgrded s property groups. The term uild profile hs een retired. The term property set hs een retired nd CSV property set files re no longer ville. Cse-sensitivity in Custom Property Nmes Before vrelize Automtion 7.0, custom property nmes were cse-insensitive. In vrelize Automtion 7.0 nd lter, custom property nmes re cse-sensitive. During upgrde, custom property nmes must e n exct mtch. This ensures tht property vlues do not override one nother nd tht they mtch property dictionry definitions. For exmple, custom property hostnme nd nother custom property HOSTNAME re considered different custom properties y vrelize Automtion 7.0 nd lter. The custom property hostnme nd the custom property HOSTNAME do not override one nother during upgrde. VMwre, Inc. 13

This issue cn lso impct use of n upgrded vrelize Orchestrtor instlltion tht uses custom properties tht contined spces in erlier releses of either vrelize Automtion or vrelize Orchestrtor or oth. Reserved Property Nmes Becuse severl keywords re now reserved, some upgrded properties might e ffected. Some keywords tht re used y the lueprint code cn e imported, for exmple, y using vrelize CloudClient lueprint import functions. These keywords re considered reserved nd re not ville for properties tht re eing upgrded. The keywords include ut re not limited to cpu, storge, nd memory. Upgrde nd Appliction Services Appliction Services upgrde is supported in vrelize Automtion 7 nd lter. After successful migrtion to vrelize Automtion 7.3, you cn use the vrelize Automtion Appliction Services Migrtion Tool to upgrde your ppliction services. Complete these steps to downlod the tool. 1 Click Downlod VMwre vrelize Automtion. 2 Select Drivers & Tools > VMwre vrelize Appliction Services Migrtion Tool. Upgrde nd Advnced Service Design When you upgrde to vrelize Automtion 7 nd lter, your Advnced Service Design items re upgrded to XS elements. XS components re ville for use in the design cnvs. Upgrde nd Blueprint Price Informtion As of 7.0, vrelize Automtion price profiles re no longer supported nd re not migrted into the trget deployment during upgrde.
