2 The Informed Visibility (IV ) Mail Tracking & Reporting application is here! IV provides near real time mail tracking data for letters and flats to help you answer the question, Where s my mail? 2

3 IV Mail Tracking & Reporting provides a one stop shop for all mail visibility needs by consolidating piece and bundle tracking data from IMb Tracing and container and handling unit tracking data from PostalOne! into one system. Mail Tracking & Reporting provides mailers with complete visibility and tracking across the mail supply chain. Mailers will be able to track letters and flats, and the associated mail aggregates such as bundles, handling units, containers, and transportation. 3

4 Access to the IV Mail Tracking & Reporting application will be available through the Business Customer Gateway. You will also be able to access the application by following these steps: 1. Go to The page shown on the slide displays. 2. Enter your Business Customer Gateway credentials, and click Sign In. Note: You must have a Gateway account, have the Informed Visibility (IV) service, and complete the IV onboarding process for at least one Customer Registration ID (CRID) to be able to access the IV application. 4

5 The IV application will improve ease of use by providing flexible data delegation, which allows data owners to share tracking data and summary information with others through the IV platform. 5

6 Data delegation through IV will enable you to share and receive visibility of mail tracking data with other companies. 6

7 In the IV application, you can request to receive mail tracking visibility from another company on the Request Data Delegation tab. On this tab, you will complete three steps: 1. Select Entity(s): Select the CRID or Mailer ID (MID) for which you want to receive visibility 2. Define Filters & Fields: Select the mail object type and handling event type, add a filter, and indicate which data fields you would like visibility of 3. Select Recipient(s): Select the CRID/MID to which visibility should be provided the CRID/MID belonging to your company who would receive the visibility Step 3, Select Recipients(s),is shown on the slide. Once you submit the request, it goes to the Delegating CRID/MID for review and approval. 7

8 The Delegating CRID/MID reviews and approves pending visibility requests on the Manage Data Delegation tab. On this tab, an administrative user for the Delegating CRID/MID can modify the visibility to be provided, if needed, and then approve or reject the request. If approved, a data delegation rule is created in the IV application to provide visibility from the Delegating CRID/MID to the Receiving CRID/MID. The Delegating CRID/MID can manage this data delegation rule, which includes the ability to modify or remove the rule as needed. 8

9 To see the data delegation rules in place that are providing your CRID/MID with mail tracking visibility of another CRID/MID, visit the Data Delegated to My CRID tab. Here you will see all of the active data delegation rules. If you no longer wish to receive visibility, you can delete an existing data delegation rule from this screen. 9

10 If you are the Delegating CRID/MID, you can provide visibility to a Receiving CRID/MID by creating a data delegation rule on the Delegate Data to Others tab. To create a rule, complete three steps: 1. Select Entity(s): Select the CRID/MID for which you want to provide visibility 2. Define Filters & Fields: Select the mail object type and handling event type, add a filter, and indicate which data fields you would like to provide visibility of 3. Select Recipient(s): Select the CRID/MID to which visibility should be provided the CRID/MID who would receive visibility of your CRID/MID s data Step 3, Select Recipients(s),is shown on the slide. Once you submit the information, the data delegation rule is created. Because you are the Delegating CRID/MID, no additional approval is required. 10

11 The IV Mail Tracking & Reporting application also has an address book. At this time, the contacts in your address book can be selected to receive notifications when delivery of data to your server is successful or unsuccessful. The address book will be enhanced in the future. 11

12 On the People tab, you can add new contacts and view/manage existing contacts in your IV address book. Your existing contacts are listed on the right. If you have a lot of contacts, use the search box in the upper right corner to search. If you need to modify information for a contact, click Edit. To add a new contact, use the area on the left side of the page. 12

13 The IV Mail Tracking & Reporting application improves ease of use for mailers through flexible data provisioning, allowing you to get the data you want, when you want, and how you want it. 13

14 With the IV application, there are multiple file formats you can use to receive mail tracking data. IV supports the legacy IMb Tracing PKG file format for piece and bundle data as well as Mail.XML messages for container and handling unit (tray, tub, and sack) data. IV also provides a new delimited format and the ability to receive mail tracking data through JavaScript Object Notation (JSON). With the delimited format, you select the data fields you would like to receive and the order you would like them in. You can also customize the delimiter character. This file format enables you to receive new data attributes that were not available in the legacy systems. JSON is a lightweight data interchange format available for all mail object types. JSON can deliver data via FTP or web service. 14

15 The IV application provides one time queries and data feeds (subscriptions). Onetime queries are ad hoc reports to receive data, and data feeds provide data on a recurring basis. For one time queries and data feeds, you have several options for customizing the data to receive, including the following: Entity: CRID, MID, and/or routing code for which to receive mail tracking data Delivery: File format and delivery method Filters: Apply a filter to limit data by available data attributes 15

16 One time Queries To perform a one time query, go to the View Data tab. There are three steps for performing a one time query: 1. Select Entity(s): Select the CRID, MID, and/or routing code for which to receive mail tracking data 2. Select Delivery Method: Choose how to receive the results of the query 3. Define Filters & Fields: Select the mail object type, handling event type, and other settings for the query Step 1, Select Entity(s), is shown on the slide. On this screen, select the CRID, MID, and/or routing code for which to receive mail tracking data. You may select multiple CRIDs, MIDs, or routing codes, or you may select a combination from these entity types. 16

17 Step 2, Select Delivery Method, for a one time query is shown on the slide. There are three delivery methods available for a one time query: 1. Online View: IV displays the query results online in a table, which you can export as CSV or PDF (currently available for container and handling unit data) 2. Data Download: IV creates a delimited or PKG file for you to download 3. Send to Address: IV creates a delimited or PKG file and sends to your server via FTP 17

18 Step 3, Define Filters & Fields, for a one time query is shown on this slide. On this screen, you can further customize the mail tracking data to receive for the query. 18

19 As shown, you can select the mail object type for which you want mail tracking data. At this time, container, handling unit, and bundle data is available through a one time query. You can also select the handling event type (e.g., actual, logical). 19

20 On this screen, you can also add a filter. Select a data field to filter on. Then, select an operator and enter a filter value. You may add multiple filters to one query. 20

21 Depending on the file format you have selected, you may be able to select the data fields to receive for the one time query. The available data fields vary based on the selected mail object type. You can also arrange the data fields into the order you would like them to appear in the query results. The available fields display in the area on the left. To add a field to your query, click and drag the field from the left to the right. You can also double click the field name to move it from the left to the right. On the right side, drag and drop the field names to arrange them into the desired order. 21

22 Data Feeds The IV application also provides the ability to create and manage data feeds subscriptions. To create or manage a data feed, go to the Create & Manage Data Feeds tab. On this screen, you can view and manage existing feeds on the left. You can create a new feed in the area on the right. The steps for creating a data feed are very similar to those for performing a one time query. You will select the entities (e.g., MIDs), file format, mail object type, handling event type, and for some file formats data fields for which to receive mail tracking data. Specific to data feeds, you will also specify the frequency for how often to receive data. Mail tracking data for containers, handling units, bundles, and pieces is available through a data feed. You may receive the data in the delimited or legacy IMb Tracing file formats as well as through JSON or Mail.XML. 22

23 One of the most exciting aspects of IV is that it provides unprecedented visibility through assumed and logical handling events. 23

24 IV leverages the intelligence of Full Service Intelligent Mail and nesting associations to create assumed handling events for nested mail whenever the mail aggregate is scanned. 24

25 The IV application also provides logical delivery events. For on street mail delivery, IV leverages GPS tracking information from carrier hand held scanners to create logical delivery events. This provides you with insight into when your mail is delivered without the need for a physical scan. 25

26 IV will provide data in near real time, and you can decide at what frequency you wish to receive IV mail tracking data. 26

27 When you create a new data feed, you will select the frequency to receive data. You may select to receive data every 1 minute up to every 31 days. 27

29 In addition to choosing who has visibility of your data, what data to receive, and when to receive it, the IV application allows you to choose where to receive your data. 29

30 The Server tab in the address book is where you manage the servers and web services you can send IV data to. Your existing servers and web services are listed on the right. To add a new server or web service, use the area on the left side of the page. In the IV application, you can send data to a Secure FTP (SFTP) server, JSON web service, or Mail.XML web service. 30
