2 THE HISTORY Classic or French Roulette is one of the most popular casino games in the world. The mathematician Blaise Pascal was the first to write down how to play the game in the th century. Shortly thereafter, it was played in Parisian bars and dance halls for the first time. THE GAME The game consists of a roulette wheel and a table, the betting mat. The numbers, from to, and all probabilities of winning are printed on this mat. The numbers are in red and black the one exception is the zero, which is green. The players can place their bets on any of the outcomes themselves or via the croupier. The croupier asks the guests to: Make your bets. ( Faites vos jeux. ) Once this has been said, bets can continue to be placed. The ball is put into the wheel in the opposite direction to which the wheel is spinning. The croupier indicates when this period ends by saying: No more bets. ( Rien ne va plus. ) Once the ball has dropped into a pocket, the winning number and all bets which have won as a result of that number will be announced. All the winning bets are paid out and a new game can begin. At first, it seems as though there are a multitude of options when playing roulette. As an alternative to betting on a single number (straight up), many players use the opportunity to play announced bets. An announced bet always encompasses a specific amount of numbers on the roulette wheel. You can choose between Voisins du Zero, Tiers du Cylindre, Orphelins and Zero Game. These are explained in detail in the diagram overleaf. There is also the opportunity to play different Finales. This means that a set of numbers which end in the same number will be betted on ( Finale Six includes the numbers / / /, and requires four chips to be played). There is a specific minimum and maximum bet for each table. This is stated directly at the table. 3 THE RULES OF THE GAME Bets can be placed using chips or in cash (euros). The deciding factor for the payout on a win is always where the chips are positioned at the moment of the outcome (when the ball drops). Every player is responsible for their own bets. The Casino is not liable for any errors or mistakes that the players may make. This also applies if the chip is pushed onto another square or pushed off a square. If a player leaves the table where he has placed a bet before the end of the game, then they do so at their own risk. Announced bets may only be placed via the croupier if they are announced on time. The croupier must be given the equivalent value of the bet in chips or euros in order to place it. An announced bet is only considered as accepted when it is repeated by the croupier and confirmed by the floorman. A floorman can reject an announced bet once the croupier has announced that bets are closed. A win on a Dozen, Column or even money bet that is left on the table plus stake, following two further payments, will be taken off the table and neutralized by the bank, under observation of the permitted maximum bet. If there is no clarifying claim which can prove the right of ownership before the following three plays have ended, then the sum is confiscated. The highest bets determined for each individual table apply on a per person basis. This maximum may not be exceeded, even if many players on a table decide to play as one player. Differences in opinion and complaints will, in principle, be settled by the Director of the Casino or their representative. This decision is final.
