4 LPSS3 POWER UP 4 The LPSS3 Long Pole Search System is powered by four 3-Volt Photo Lithium batteries. Most manufacturers of these cells designate them as size 123 or CR123A. Tactical Electronics systems draw high current, and we only recommend use of SUREFIRE, GE SANYO, ENERGIZER, or DURACELL batteries. Testing has proven those batteries to provide the longest run time in our products. The diagrams below demonstrate proper battery installation and power-up for the LPSS3 Long Pole Search System. Battery Compartment & Power-Up Procedure The LPSS3 battery compartment is located behind the camera unit. Unscrew the grooved ring to detach the camera unit from the pole and expose the battery compartment. GROOVED RING The image on the left depicts the proper orientation for the batteries. Batteries for the LPSS3 should be inserted negative terminal first, follow the diagram adhered to the LPSS3 for battery insertion reference. Always remove batteries when not in use. NOTE: For SD card recording, the SD card must first be inserted before powering ON the LPSS3. To insert or eject an SD card, unscrew the SD card slot cover on the top of the camera unit to expose the SD card slot. DO NOT insert or eject an SD card with the LPSS3 powered ON; otherwise, recorded video files will not finalize and will become corrupted. The power switch for the LPSS3 is located on the side of the unit. To power ON the LPSS3, hold down the rubber power button until the LED indicator illuminates a solid blue, then release. Hold down the power button for 3 seconds to begin power down cycle - the LED will illuminate blue and the unit will power OFF within 10 seconds. POWER
5 LPSS3 OPERATION 5 LPSS3 Operation NOTE: For SD card recording, the SD card must first be inserted before powering ON the LPSS3. Insert camera head into the 7-pin connector on the LPSS3 camera unit. camera head attachment Follow proper power-up and SD card insertion procedures for the LPSS3. Immediately after the LPSS3 is powered ON the LED indicator will illuminate solid blue, indicating initialization mode. After initializing, the LED will illuminate green, indicating SD card recording. A recording error is indicated by a flashing red LED. Low battery power is indicated when the LED illuminates solid red. To change the desired transmitting frequency: press the CHANNEL button. There are four channels available. pole attachment LPSS3 Pole Attachment To attach or detach the camera unit from the pole, simply screw on or unscrew the grooved ring located at the bottom of the camera unit. Extend pole to desired length. IR LED SWITCH IR LED ON/OFF Switch The LPSS3 camera head provides IR illumination. Use the switch on top of the camera head to turn ON or OFF the IR LEDs. NOTE: Use of the IR LEDs directly affects the battery life of the unit.
6 LPSS3 OPERATION 6 LPSS3 Wireless Operation Wireless operation of the LPSS3 is simple. First, follow proper power-up procedures for the LPSS3 and monitor. (the following wireless directions work with all monitors) Once the LPSS3 is powered ON, the unit immediately begins transmission of a video signal. When a monitor is powered ON the monitor automatically receives the video signal from the LPSS3. To change the desired transmitting frequency: depress the CHANNEL button. There are four channels available. To determine which channel the LPSS3 is transmitting, simply power ON both the LPSS3 and monitor. Use the channel selector button(s) on the monitor to cycle through each channel until a picture is displayed on screen. channel selector Wrist Mounted Monitor
