3 The soft contact lenses of Microlens Microlens is traditionally a producer of gas permeable (GP) contact lenses. During recent years the production of soft contact lenses has started as well. The advantage that Microlens has stepped in in a relatively late stage of the development of soft contact lenses, lies in the fact that our lens designs are new. They are based on the latest production techniques and insights, resulting in a product that differs from the many soft prescription lenses on the market, whose designs and sometimes materials, have not changed in the last twenty years. This shows directly in the predictability of the fit, the structural stability and the comfortable wear of the Microlens soft contact lenses. Microlens produces large numbers of soft Rx contact lenses. The K-Soft spherical contact lenses and the StabMax toric lenses enjoy great popularity. Approximately 20 % of all eyes do not tolerate standard cast moulded lenses. Whenever the eye is too flat or too steep, the cylinder power is high or the cornea diameter is big or small, Rx lenses are required. In these cases the workmanship and expertise built into a state of the art prescription lens is the key for successful contact lens wear. 4 MICROLENS CONTAC TLENS PROGRAM SOFT PRESCRIPTION CONTAC T LENSES l K-soft & stabmax StabMax & K-Soft, Suitable for presbyopes too: Read Support Prescribing the Read Support version of the StabMax and K-soft lenses extends the contact lens wear of your 40-plus patients with 5 to 10 years, and you offer them a comfortable and longer lasting vision. Fatigue disappears as snow for the sun. Those over forty and fifty will be completely happy with this type while the over sixties are happy that they can browse the internet without reading glasses or neck stiffening posture. StabMax en K-Soft lenses The read support version is intended for those over forty and fifty to address fatigue complaints on one hand and add an extra plus power of 1 to 1.5 diopters on the other. New technology in our production and designs guarantee that under no circumstance the distance vision will be reduced or otherwise influenced. K-Soft Spherical soft contact lenses for 3 and 6 monthly replacement with a wide range of powers and radii. StabMax Thin and comfortable Toric soft contact lenses having the most accurate stabilisation money can buy. And all this in a wide range of powers and radii. 4
5 Classic Excellent Ultimate The classic version is manufactured using the methafilcon material: a proven and reliable ionic material. The excellent version is manufactured using the Hioxifilcon B material: a unique feature of this material is that it retains the tear fluid in the eye. Less than 1% of the tear fluid evaporates while traditional materials only score 10-15%. Lenses of Hioxifilcon material do not dry out the eye and maintain their optimum gas permeability, stable vision and comfort during all day. The ultimate version is manufactured of the latest generation silicon hydrogel material with a high oxygen transmissibility, a very low modulus and an excellent deposit resistance. overview of the materials l K-soft & stabmax 5

The two versions, mono focal and read support are supplied at the same price, terms and conditions. The materials l Ultimate: Silicone hydrogel material with a DK of 60. l Excellent: Hioxifilcon material for the dryer (older) eye. l Classic: The traditional Methafilcon material. Fitting recommendation Due to the better and more anatomic fit the fitting recommendation of the lenses is different from older Rx lens generations. 10 MICROLENS CONTAC TLENS PROGRAM SOFT PRESCRIPTION CONTAC T LENSES l read support Read support Wearing lenses your entire life The effectivity of multifocal soft lenses, if you do not want to diminish the distance vision, is less than that of gas permeable (GP) contact lenses. This is a result of the different dynamics that operate on a lens during wear in an eye. The vision with a multifocal soft lens is based on simultaneous vision, because a soft lens has none, or neglectible, movement in the eye. In opposite: the small gas permeable lens does move in the eye, so alternating vision can be achieved with these. That is why Microlens developed a new type of contact lens that enables the presbyope to read without any reading glasses for at least 10 years longer. This read support technology allows your clients who are now in their forties, fifties and sixties, to experience a rejuvenating cure for their eyes. You will keep wearers of soft contact lenses satisfied for many more years. The read support version of the StabMax and K-soft lenses secure a considerable restoration of the consequences of the lost accommodation, without drawback on distance vision. Even for the astigmatic eye. 10
11 Read support StabMax and K-Soft With Read support: l Both the StabMax as well as the K-Soft lenses are available in the read support version. l The read support version offers efficient vision for close or intermediate distance that rejuvenates the eye by ten years. l The read support version is available for the entire StabMax and K-Soft program. l The replacement scheme is three or six months. Indication: All presbyopes that require StabMax or K-Soft lenses. Lens design: Latest generation of custom-made lenses, toric as well as speric, with a read support front. l Read support is in the centre of the lens. The provided plus strength offers support as well for intermediate as reading distance. l Distance vision will not be disturbed under any circumstance. Power and Radius Range: The entire StabMax and K-Soft program (see pages 6-9) is available in the read support version without additional charge. Fitting: l Fitting is identical with StabMax and K-Soft lenses with a spherical front. l Do not compare the read support lenses with multifocal spectacles. They offer efficient support up to 1.50 diopter maximum. l Create a true expectation perspective: the look of your eyes will be years younger. l Ask the patient at the check up visits for the improvement in near vision and their (subjective) experience. Their subjective experience is more important than any objective measuring. l Make sure that you refract the distance with the highest value in the plus direction. Too much minus is a common error and kills part of the read support. l Overrefractions using an overrefractometer are unreliable. Use a subjective refraction with preferably a trial frame.
