The flush mounted lights typically create a sales opportunity for a license plate light 6) Stop Arm Lights These activate with the red overheads during loading/unloading. We do not have a sealed light at this time. Our LEDstop arm bulb is our number one moving item which directly replaces the existing incandescent bulb 7) Third / Auxiliary Brake Light Some districts will mount a light to their rear bumper for additional safety. Our light rapid flashes for five seconds then becomes solid when the driver applies the brakes 8) Clearance / Marker Lights There are 12 on a bus. The front 2/3 rds of the bus will have ambers and the rear 1/3 rd should be reds. That makes 5 total reds, three rear facing and two on the back right/left corners and 7 ambers, three forward facing and four on the left/ right sides. It is very common to see rectanuglar lights on the left/right sides and triangular on the front/back of bus.

4 General Definitions/ Information Sealed Unit: A sealed unit is a light fixture that undergoes a process called sonic sealing. This process essen ally melts two plas cs together to create a weather proof seal, elimina ng dust, water, etc. from entering the light fixture. All sealed light fixtures have a 5 year warranty. Serviceable Unit: A serviceable unit is a light fixture in which the lens and light source are removeable. This style of light is exposed to weather, though if an in-tact inner gasket is used, it should not affect the light source. It is reccommended to replace inner gaskets at a minimum rate of once per year. If in harsher weather condi ons, fleet operators should consider replacing on a more frequent basis. Due to the variables on installa on and preventa ve maintenance, an 18 month warranty is offered with all serviceable ligh ng. Fillament Light: A fillament style light is typically an incandescent or halogen bulb that has a fillament that heats up to the point where light is emmi ed. Due to the heat, fillament style ligh ng does not last as long and is more suscep ble to fail due to weather condi ons or simple on the road vibra on. 8-Ways: 8 Ways is a term used in the USA for the eight overhead warning lights, four red and four amber. However, the best term to use should be Overhead Warning Lights, or simply Overheads as they do not use ambers up in Canada. The majority of Overheads on the road today u lize an H3 Halogen (fillament style) bulb, which has an average lifespan of 150 hours, compared to the average lifespan of 50,000 hours of an LED. P.C.B.: A P.C.B. is a Printed Circuit Board. S.M.D.: S.M.D. stands for Surface Mount Display. Most lights u lize S.M.D. LEDs right now C.O.B.: C.O.B. Ligh ng is a newer LED technology being used more widespread for ligh ng applica ons. The C.O.B. term is best said as three le ers, not as cob - like corn on the cob. If you are speaking with somebody that knows LEDs, this would be considered a faux pas use of the term. C.O.B. is short for Chip On Board. The easy way to define this is that there are several diodes located on the P.C.B. that are appear to be on light source. We use the term Plasma to describe our C.O.B. lights, as we feel that it is a more marektable term.
