6 Parts Descriptions Precautions Installation of this device shall be performed by qualified personnel in accordance with all local regulations and good installation practices. To prevent damage to your camera or injury to yourself or to others, read and comply with the safety precautions as follows: 1. Never attempt to disassemble or modify the camera. Any modification could lead to damages that are not covered by the guarantee. 2. Make sure the power source is switched off and disconnected before installation. Refer servicing to qualified personnel only. 3. To prevent fire or electrical shock, use only regulated power supply and the wiring should be used for the appropriate input terminal. 4. Do not expose or operate the camera in wet areas. Moisture may damage the camera and also increase the danger of electrical shock. 5. Do not attempt to aim the camera at the sun or other extremely bright objects. This may cause damage to the CCD and the void of warranty. 6. 7 2 Installation Camera Installation Step 1 1. Screws can be loosened and the desired position can be adjusted. 2. Loosen and tighten the screws by using a Torx driver. User s Manual 2-1
8 Installation Step 2 1. To install the sunhood, please put the sunhood on the top of the camera, and then tighten the screw. 2. To remove the sunhood, please first untighten the screw and then take the sunhood away from the camera. 2-2 Discover 700 Series Outdoor IR Bullet Camera
9 Installation Step 3 1. Use the template supplied on the quick installation guide to mark an appropriate mounting position on a wall, drilling to create apertures on the wall. Additionally, for proper routing of Video Output Terminal and Power Input Terminal cables, there may need to be a hole on the wall right at the center of the template. 2. Insert the four wall plugs into the apertures and install the camera to the mounting surface by fastening four screws. 3. Secure the camera on the mounting surface by using a Torx driver. 10 Installation Connection and the Adjustment Camera Connection NEC Class 2 / Limited Power Source Supply Required 1. Connect the Video Output Terminal to a video monitor or DVR. 2. Connect the Power Input Terminal to the appropriate power supply. NOTE: This product requires the use of an NEC Class 2 or Limited Power Source (LPS) Supply. 11 Installation Camera Adjustment and Extra Connection There is an adjustment mechanism on the back of the camera. Turn the cover on the back of the camera in the direction indicated below and remove the cover. User s Manual 2-5
12 Installation 1. Focus Adjuster: Adjusts the lens focus from near (N) to far ( ). Turning counterclockwise toward N would bias lens focus for near objects, whereas turning clockwise toward the setting would bias the focus for far-away objects. NOTE: Focus Adjuster must be used in conjunction with Field of View Adjuster. After adjusting of one of these two knobs (usually Field of View first), the other knob must also be adjusted to restore image focus. 2. Second Video Out Jack: Sends out identical video information as that of the first video out jack. A second video out jack would allow simultaneous video connection to a DVR in addition to a video monitor. (NOTE: Cable for 2 nd video out is sold separately.) 3. IR ON/OFF Switch: Turns the IR (infrared) illumination option ON or OFF. IR illumination takes effect when there is inadequate or no visible lighting. IR illumination 4. Field of View Adjuster: Adjusts the focal length of the lens from wide (W) to telephoto (T). Turning counterclockwise toward W would decrease focal length, yielding wider field of view, whereas turning clockwise toward the T setting would increase focal length, yielding narrower field of view but with farther zoom. NOTE: Focus Adjuster must be used in conjunction with Field of View Adjuster. After adjusting of one of these two knobs (usually Field of View first), the other knob must also be adjusted to restore image focus. 5. OSD Toggle Switch is for navigation through the OSD menu. up/down left/right click (ENTER) OSD Menu Navigation Basic OSD Menu/Sub-menu Navigation Usage of the OSD Toggle switch for OSD Menu navigation is as the following: 1. Press and hold the OSD toggle switch for at least 1 second to bring up the OSD main menu. MAIN MENU Cursor > PRESETS WD_NORMAL EXPOSURE.. WHITE BALANCE ATW Normal VIEWING.. SETUP.. SYSTEM INFO.. 13 Installation 3. Change item selection by shifting the cursor (OSD toggle switch) left or right. 4. Sub-Menu (..) / Action (.) : In this OSD menu display, the item trailed by two dots.. has its associated sub-menu (e.g. VIEWING.. ), and the item trailed by just one dot. has its associated action (e.g. EXIT MENU.). Click ENTER (OSD toggle switch) to enter the item s sub-menu or execute its action. 5. By selecting and executing EXIT MENU., all changes made in this menu session are preserved but not saved to FLASH memory. If the user wants to preserve these settings after the camera is powered off, please use the SAVE. option in any sub-menu (or any other similar option). 6. In every sub-menu, there are 3 standard actions right at the bottom: PREV. SAVE. CANCEL. SETUP. > VIDEO STANDARD VIDEO NTSC LENS IRIS.. ID SETUP.. SYNC INT NIGHT MODE B/W +BURST PREV. SAVE. CANCEL. Example : SETUP sub-menu Move the cursor (OSD toggle switch) to any of these 3 actions and click ENTER (OSD toggle switch) to execute its action. PREV. would guide the user one hierarchy level up in the menu tree or go back to the previous page of the same hierarchy level. SAVE. would save current settings to FLASH memory, so the current settings would not be lost after the camera is powered off. CANCEL. would let user immediately exit the menu discarding all changes made in the current menu session that are not saved to FLASH memory. 7. At any OSD Menu/Sub-menu hierarchy level, pressing and holding the ENTER button for at least 1 second would be equivalent to either CANCEL. (exit the OSD Menu/Sub-menu completely) or PREV. Move the cursor left/right to adjust the digital zoom. ZOOM > ZOOM > PAN > TILT PREV. SAVE. CANCEL. ZOOM > ZOOM > PAN > TILT PREV. SAVE. CANCEL. 5. After finishing adjustments, move the cursor to SAVE. and click ENTER (the SAVE. operation can be omitted if you do not wish to save white balance settings to FLASH memory). 6. Then move cursor to PREV. and click ENTER this would go one hierarchy level back up to VIEWING sub-menu. 7. Once again move the cursor down to PREV. and click ENTER to go one hierarchy level back up to the MAIN MENU. 8. Finally move cursor to select EXIT MENU. and click ENTER to exit the OSD menu. 9. 15 3 OSD Menu Descriptions OSD Menu Overview OSD Main Menu OSD Option / Sub-Menu OSD Menu Note In this OSD menu table, a submenu item may have an alternative name after entering that submenu. For example, for the menu item VIEWING, after choosing the PTZ.. submenu item, the subsequent submenu name would appear as ZOOM. User s Manual 3-1
16 OSD Menu Descriptions PRESETS This menu item offers some pre-programmed camera settings ready for different scenarios. WD_NORMAL This setting is for normal surveillance circumstances with wide-dynamic-range enhancements. NORMAL This setting is for normal surveillance circumstances. INDOOR This setting is optimized for indoor surveillance. OUTDOOR This setting is optimized for outdoor surveillance. EXPOSURE This menu item sets various exposure settings in detail. DAY EXPOSURE This menu item sets exposure settings for daytime use. This camera has the WDR (wide dynamic range) feature, which compensates or restores visibility of seriously underexposed and overexposed 3-2 Discover 700 Series Outdoor IR Bullet Camera
17 OSD Menu Descriptions areas in high-contrast scenarios. DAY EXPOSURE has these submenu items: WDR CTRL, WDR ZONE, EXPOSURE PREF, BLC, and DAY AGC. WDR CTRL: Specifies WDR (wide dynamic range) preset or user-adjustable control settings. Available choices are LOW, NORMAL, MEDIUM, HIGH, and CUSTOM (AUTO-RANGE). Note that by choosing CUSTOM, the subsequent AUTO-RANGE sub-menu will appear. AUTO-RANGE BIAS (-30~30): LIMIT (0~36): Sets WDR luminance bias Sets dynamic range limit factor for EXPOSURE PREF. WDR ZONE: Specifies the screen region for WDR calibration reference. There are 4 presets, each with its own factory default settings: WD NORMAL, SAFE AREA, CTR SPOT, and LOWER 1/3. Each of these 4 presets can be further adjusted by pressing ENTER the ZONE adjustment screen will appear with the following stages (in order): Position Adjustment Border Expansion Border Contraction Position Adjustment ZONE ZONE for adjustment The ZONE for adjustment is the rectangle with white double border lines. To move this ZONE, simply shift the OSD toggle switch up/down/left/right or press any directional button. Then press ENTER to advance to the Border Expansion stage. Border Expansion ZONE ZONE for adjustment The ZONE for adjustment becomes the rectangle with green double border lines. To move any border outward, simply shift the OSD toggle switch (or press any directional button) in the direction corresponding to that border. Then press ENTER to advance to the Border Contraction stage. User s Manual 3-3
18 OSD Menu Descriptions Border Contraction ZONE ZONE for adjustment The ZONE for adjustment becomes the rectangle with red double border lines. To move any border inward, simply shift the OSD toggle switch (or press any directional button) in the direction corresponding to that border. Then press ENTER to go back to the Position Adjustment stage. To exit from the ZONE adjustment screen, press and hold ENTER for at least 1 second. EXPOSURE PREF: Specifies exposure preference. Available settings are HIGHLIGHTS or SHADOWS. BLC: Back-Light Compensation (ON/OFF). When BLC is turned ON, a virtual light is casted onto the image for fortified exposure. Visibility of dark regions is improved, but bright regions may be overexposed. DAY AGC (0 ~ 60): Sets Daytime Automatic Gain Control enhancement. Range of adjustment is 0 ~ 60. NIGHT EXPOSURE This menu item sets exposure settings for night-time use. This camera has the DNR (digital noise reduction) feature, which reduces image noise in low luminance environment. NIGHT EXPOSURE has these submenu items: SLOW SHUTTER, DNR, and NIGHT AGC. SLOW SHUTTER: This is the option to slow down the shutter in exchange for extended exposure time (improved visibility by sacrificing some timeliness). The available settings are shown in time extension factor and frame rate (FPS = frames per second): (NOTE: to simplify the OSD menu tree listings, frame rates are omitted in the OSD Menu Overview section of this manual and quick start guide) OFF / 2X - 30FPS / 4X - 15FPS / 8X - 8FPS / 16X - 4FPS / 32X - 2FPS / 64X - 2FPS DNR: Reduces image noise in poorly illuminated environment. The available settings are: OFF, LOW, MEDIUM, and HIGH. NIGHT AGC (0 ~ 60): Sets Night-time Automatic Gain Control enhancement. Range of adjustment is 0 ~ Discover 700 Series Outdoor IR Bullet Camera
19 OSD Menu Descriptions WHITE BALANCE White balance is the mechanism of choosing and/or setting the white color reference of the current environment for optimal image color calibrations. The available white balance modes are: ATW Normal, 1 TOUCH*, MANUAL, and ATW Xtnd ATW Normal This option sets the camera to Auto-Tracking White-balance Normal mode, which automatically and continuously tracks video display contents (in the normal color temperature range of 2800~9100K) and adjusts the display for optimal white balance. 1 TOUCH* This option executes white balance calibration based on the moment of pressing the ENTER button. MANUAL This option allows the user to specify customized white balance settings. Entering this option will call for its submenu MANUAL WHITE BALANCE. Follow instructions on the screen to make appropriate adjustments. ATW Xtnd This option sets the camera to Auto-Tracking White-balance Extended mode, which automatically and continuously tracks video display contents (in the extended color temperature range of 2000~11000K) and adjusts the display for optimal white balance. VIEWING This menu item allows non-adaptive picture adjustments and settings of image presentation. User s Manual 3-5
20 OSD Menu Descriptions MONITOR This option sets the camera to Auto-Tracking White-balance Normal mode, which automatically and continuously tracks video display contents (in the normal color temperature range of 2800~7500K) and adjusts the display for optimal white balance. PTZ This option (pan, tilt, zoom) allows the user to digitally zoom in to a particular region of the surveillance screen. ZOOM (1 ~ 8) Adjusts the amount of magnification from 1X to 8X. Note that at the setting of 1, the PAN and TILE adjustments have no effect (since the magnification is set at 1X, i.e. the entire screen). FLIP PAN (-100 ~ 100) Shifts the zoom window horizontally (-100 is the leftmost setting; 100 is the rightmost setting; if there is a horizontal flip, the left and right settings are swapped). TILT Shifts the zoom window vertically (-100 is the down-most setting; 100 is the up-most setting; if there is a vertical flip, the up and down settings are swapped). This option allows the user to correct image orientation due to inverted physical camera lens orientation. The available settings are: OFF Image orientation is unchanged. HORIZ This option flips the image horizontally for mirror-like screen behavior (more natural for rear-view surveillance) VERT This option flips the image vertically with mirror-like screen behavior (useful for upside-down camera orientation and more natural for rear-view surveillance) BOTH - This option flips the image both vertically and horizontally (useful for upside-down camera orientation and more natural for front-view surveillance) COLOR GAIN -8~8 Adjusts the color gain of the overall video image. Range of adjustment is -8 to 8. SHARPNESS -8~8 Adjusts the sharpness of the overall video image. Range of adjustment is -8 to 8 (-8 = most blurry; 8 = sharpest edge clarity but may come with additional video artifacts). PRIVACY MASK SETUP This camera allows privacy mask creation and control for protecting privacy of certain regions. 21 OSD Menu Descriptions PRIVACY MASK Enables (ON) or disables (OFF) the privacy mask option. If the privacy mask is enabled (ON), press ENTER to advance to the ENABLE MASKS submenu. ENABLE MASKS (1 to 6) Here the user can either enable (ON) or disable (OFF) any of Masks 1~6. For the other 6 masks (7~12), move the cursor to NEXT. and press ENTER. ENABLE MASKS (7 to 12) Here the user can either enable (ON) or disable (OFF) any of Masks 7~12. For the other 6 masks (1~6), move the cursor to PREV. and press ENTER. To adjust the position and size of each privacy mask, move the cursor to any mask that is enabled (ON) and press ENTER twice (only need to press ENTER once immediately after enabling a particular mask). The privacy mask adjustment window will appear. All enabled masks will be visible and adjustable in this window. MASK for position adjustment Initially the MASK for adjustment (currently selected mask) appears in white color. Shift the OSD toggle switch or use directional buttons to adjust position of the mask. Then press ENTER. MASK for size adjustment Then the MASK for adjustment would appear in blue color. Shift the OSD toggle switch or use directional buttons to increase or decrease the horizontal (left/right) and/or vertical (up/down) size of the mask. Then press ENTER. The above MASK adjustment window (white for mask position adjustment, and blue for mask size adjustment) will repeat for the next mask. To exit this mask adjustment window and go back to the ENABLE MASKS submenu, press and hold ENTER for at least 1 second. MASK COLOR The available colors for privacy masks are RED, WHITE, and BLACK. ID DISPLAY Enables (ON) or disables (OFF) ID display option. User s Manual 3-7
22 OSD Menu Descriptions ID POSITION Specifies the desired position for ID display. The available options are: UP-LEFT / UP-CENTER / UP-RIGHT / DOWN-LEFT / DOWN-RIGHT SETUP The SETUP menu hosts miscellaneous adjustment parameters for camera operation. VIDEO STANDARD This option sets the standard for the output video. The choices are either NTSC or PAL. Normally the camera s video standard is pre-calibrated to its intended region and does not need to be changed. : When changing output video standard (NTSCPAL or PALNTSC), the following submenu will appear with warning message: VIDEO MODE SAVE > SAVE SETTINGS and RESET CANCEL. *** WARNING *** All User properties will be written to FLASH and Camera will be reset. If the output video standard is indeed to be changed, press ENTER (with the cursor at SAVE SETTINGS and RESET ). Otherwise, move the cursor to CANCEL. and press ENTER (to abort video standard change). LENS IRIS This option (if applicable for the hardware) is for lens and iris control adjustments. DC GAIN (0 ~ 255): Adjusts the automatic iris control DC gain from 0 ~ 255. Higher value means more control movement. 3-8 Discover 700 Series Outdoor IR Bullet Camera
23 OSD Menu Descriptions AI THRESH (-48 ~ 60): Adjusts the automatic iris control activation threshold boost (in db; higher value means more threshold boost and therefore lower auto-iris control activation light level needed). Range of adjustment is -48 ~ 60 (db). Lower the threshold boost if the iris control becomes unstable. ID SETUP This option sets up identification information display for the camera. Upon selection of this option, the following submenu will appear: CAMERA ID SETUP ID DISPLAY: Enables (ON) or disables (OFF) ID information display feature CAMERA ID: This option is for the user to key in the desired ID information. The procedure is as the following: 1. Move the cursor to CAMERA ID. 2. Then move the cursor left or right once to start the CAMERA ID entering mode. The character input cursor should appear: > CAMERA ID: Character input cursor 3. Move left or right (shift OSD toggle switch left/right or press left/right directional button) to choose the desired character (including space bar). To move to the next character, press ENTER once. Repeat this step for the other 7 characters (8 characters total for CAMERA ID). 4. After finishing the input of CAMERA ID, simply move the cursor up or down to exit the CAMERA ID entering mode. ID POSITION: Specifies the desired position for ID display. The available options are: UP-LEFT / UP-CENTER / UP-RIGHT / DOWN-LEFT / DOWN-RIGHT SYNC This field specifies camera video s synchronization. The available options are: INT: internal synchronization (default 60 Hz) INT2: internal synchronization (alternative Hz) L.L.: line-lock synchronization to external AC power source (for AC power mains models) After selecting and clicking the L.L. option, the LINELOCK sub-menu would appear. Follow instructions on the screen to make appropriate adjustments. DAY/NIGHT SETUP This field specifies the camera s option for daytime and night-time operations. Usually surveillance video during daytime is in color (with abundant lighting), while surveillance video during night-time is in B/W (black-and-white) for more usable visual information in low luminance scenarios. D/N CONTROL: Day and Night Control sets up operation modes for camera s daytime and/or night-time operations. The available settings are: AUTO The camera automatically switches to daytime mode when external lighting is adequate. On the other hand, if external lighting is insufficient, the camera switches to night-time mode. Follow instructions on the screen to make appropriate adjustments. 24 OSD Menu Descriptions NIGHT The camera is set continuously to operate in night-time mode (continuous black-and-white surveillance video). PHOTO SENSOR Day and Night operation modes are set to be controlled by the photo sensor (light sensor). NIGHT MODE: Sets up various parameters for night-time operations B/W+BURST black-and-white mode with color BURST signal support (i.e. menus are still in color) B/W black-and-white mode SYSTEM INFO This menu item displays system information. SAVE/RESTORE This menu has options for the user to save and restore camera settings. SAVE USER SETTINGS This option saves current user settings to FLASH memory. RESTORE USER SETTINGS This option resets the camera and recalls user settings saved in FLASH memory. RESTORE FACTORY SETTINGS This field resets the camera and restores factory default settings. RESET CAMERA This option resets the camera. EXIT MENU Exits from the MAIN MENU.
