Installation KTC-XP1 UltraView Camera 2 INSTALLATION 2.1 MAKING VIDEO CONNECTIONS Note: With the Xposure technology, both the BNC (composite) and S-video (Y/C video) connections provide sharper images of all scenes (especially high-contrast scenes). The S-video connection, however, provides even greater clarity over the BNC connection. See Figure 2 and perform the following: Coaxial cable with BNCs between MON.OUT and test or local monitor Coaxial cable with BNCs between VIDEO OUT and monitor, multiplexer, or switcher S-video cable between S-VIDEO and monitor Figure 2. Video connections Note: You can connect up to three monitors (or devices) to each camera. 1) Connect a coaxial cable terminated with BNC connectors between the MON.OUT connector of the camera and the video in connector on a test or local monitor. 2) Connect a coaxial cable terminated with BNC connectors between the VIDEO OUT connector of the camera and the video in connector on a monitor, multiplexer, switcher, or other standard video device. 3) Connect an S-video (Y/C video) cable between the S-VIDEO connector of the camera and the video in connector on a highresolution surveillance monitor. Note: If you re not seeing the video quality that you expect with the S-video connection, consult your company s S-video technician A / February 2004
KTC-XP1 UltraView Camera Installation 2.2 SETTING THE LENS-MODE DIP SWITCH Note: If your lens has a manual iris, ignore this switch. It is for autoiris lenses only. See Figure 3 and set switch as shown: Set to VD (video drive) for: Autoiris lenses with built-in amplifier (i.e., video-type lenses) Set to DD (direct drive) for: Autoiris lenses without amplifier (i.e., DC-type lenses) DD adjustment (see note) Figure 3. Lens-mode DIP switch settings and iris level adjustment Note: When the lens-mode DIP switch is set to DD, you can use the DD level screw (iris level adjustment) to ensure the correct exposure of images for the camera s position and the lighting conditions. Use an insulated tool to rotate the screw. Observe the results on the monitor screen for the best setting. Note: The circuitry and programming must be set to the same setting for autoiris lenses. Refer to section Setting the Lens Mode and Adjusting the Defaults. Installation continues on next page A / February
Installation KTC-XP1 UltraView Camera 2.3 ATTACHING THE CUSTOMER-SUPPLIED LENS Note: For optimal performance, use an autoiris lens. Refer to the instructions that came with the lens you purchased for complete installation instructions of the lens. In general, see Figure 4 and perform the following: Video-type autoiris lens leads: Pins for solder side of lens plug C-mount adapter (for C-mount lenses only) Pins for solder side of lens plug DC-type autoiris lens leads: Red (9 VAC) Damping coil (+) NC (no connection) Damping coil ( ) Black (ground) Driving coil (+) White (video) Driving coil ( ) Camera Autoiris lens connector Autoiris lens plug Lens (autoiris lens shown; a manual iris lens has no cable) Figure 4. Attaching the customer-supplied lens 1) If you are using a C-mount lens, screw on the provided C-mount adapter. 2) Screw the customer-supplied lens to the camera. 3) If you are using an autoiris lens, insert the autoiris lens plug into the autoiris lens connector A / February 2004
KTC-XP1 UltraView Camera Installation 2.4 MAKING POWER CONNECTIONS CAUTION: Use direct plug-in UL listed power supplies marked Class 2 or LPS (limited power source) of the required output rating as listed on the unit. Complete all instruction steps before supplying power to the unit. See Figure 5 and perform the following: Connect a universal 12 VDC/24 VAC power supply as shown Note: The terminal block is not polarity-sensitive. Note: The power LED ( ) illuminates to show that the camera is receiving power. Figure 5. Power connections 1) With a screwdriver, loosen the ~AC24V/DC12V and GND terminal screws on the terminal block. 2) Connect a universal 12 VDC/24 VAC power supply to the terminal block. Note: The terminal block is not polarity-sensitive. Either power lead can be connected to either terminal connector. 3) Retighten the terminal screws until snug, ensuring that the power leads are secure. 4) Supply power to the unit by plugging the power supply into a proper power source. Note: The power LED ( ) illuminates to show that the camera is receiving power. If it does not illuminate, check the terminal block connections and the power source A / February

KTC-XP1 UltraView Camera Programming ADJUSTING THE SYNC MODE CAUTION: The phase adjustment must be made by a qualified service person. To reduce the effect of picture roll on the monitor caused by the difference in the vertical interval sync pulses of your equipment (cameras, power supplies, monitors, switchers, etc.), you can synchronize the vertical interval sync pulse of the video source (your cameras). You can use the AC line lock mode to synchronize the pulses of your cameras with other equipment, or you can use the internal sync generator when consistent phasing is not required. Sync modes: Line lock: The line lock mode can synchronize all of the cameras in a system by locking their vertical interval sync pulse with the mains frequency of the power source. The same power source must be used to power all cameras in the system for consistent phasing. Use the line lock sync mode for cameras being powered by AC power supplies. Use the V-phase adjustment to adjust individual cameras when they are powered from sources with differing phases. Note: Using a DC power supply will cause the sync mode to default to internal synchronization. Internal: This mode uses the camera s internal sync generators to generate their vertical interval sync pulses. Use the internal sync mode for cameras being powered by DC power supplies. To set the sync mode: At the Camera Setup menu, use the up and down buttons ( ) to move to the Sync option and use the right and left buttons ( ) to move to and between the sync options (LINELOCK or INTERNAL).
