3 Release Notes Version of 6 Fixed issues This section lists fixed Cingular issues from build bundle 093 to build bundle 314 for Platform and BlackBerry Applications version Miscellaneous SDR72462 QC3597 CR34 QC7747 QC7748 QC7754 Previously, cookies were not properly discarded by the browser. Previously, the device did not provide a warning to the user when downloading an unsigned WAP MIDlet. New Features This section lists new features for version Handheld Software since version Theme Messaging Attachments There are new themes available for use, you can select an alternate theme from with the device Options Theme menu. The user interface for composing and PIN messages has been redesigned to make it easier to create and PIN messages. You can now hide sent messages from the messages list. You can forward , PIN, or short message service (SMS) messages in a different message format. You can turn off AutoText when you create SMS messages. You can send SMS messages to more than one recipient. You can now view Microsoft PowerPoint presentations in graphical format on your BlackBerry device. You can now view high-resolution attachments more clearly. You can view attachments in.wmf format, including embedded images in MS Office documents. Note: To use the new attachment features, your BlackBerry device must be integrated with an account that uses the BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.1 or BlackBerry Internet Service version 2.0.

4 Release Notes Version of 6 Browser PIM Items Bluetooth Technology Miscellaneous You can now view documents in the browser. Note: Your BlackBerry device must be integrated with an account that uses the BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.1 or BlackBerry Internet Service version 2.0. You can zoom and rotate images in the browser and the pictures list. You can now set a snooze time for calendar and task reminders and you can dismiss all calendar and task reminders. The time for an appointment can be displayed as free, busy, tentative, or out-of-office. You can display tasks in the calendar. You can use the Backspace/Delete key in the address book, task list, and memos list. With Bluetooth support, you can set up your desktop computer to communicate with the BlackBerry device over a Bluetooth connection. You can share the information in your address book with a Bluetooth-compatible car kit. Note: To use these new features with Bluetooth, your BlackBerry device must be integrated with an account that uses the BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.0 Service Pack 3 or 4.1. In addition, to connect your computer to your BlackBerry device over a Bluetooth connection, you need BlackBerry Desktop Software version 4.1. Supported Bluetooth headsets and car kits: htp:// 516/What_Is_-_Supported_headsets_and_car_kits_for_Bluetoothenabled_handhelds.html?nodeid= The first time you turn on your BlackBerry device, the device automatically attempts to connect to the wireless network. If your BlackBerry device is provisioned for enterprise activation, the corporate address that you type to activate your device over the wireless network now displays on the screen. On BlackBerry 7100 Series devices, the SureType technology now adds words from received messages to the custom word list. On BlackBerry 7100 Series devices, you can load industry-specific word lists in English. Wireless Transport Layer Security (WTLS) and Transport Layer Security/Secure Sockets Layer (TLS/SSL) support are now part of the core BlackBerry device functionality. Your service provider can use IT policies to integrate a link to additional background images, ring tones, themes, and add topics to the Help program. Note: Your BlackBerry device must be integrated with an account that uses the BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.0 Service Pack 3 or 4.1. You can view the sizes of the databases on the BlackBerry device to help you

5 Release Notes Version of 6 determine how much memory each database is using. The BlackBerry device options have been reorganized so that you can find specific options more easily. You can choose how you are notified of a phone call or message based on who is contacting you. On BlackBerry 7100 Series devices, you can now use the BlackBerry icon theme and you can use more keys as speed dial keys. On BlackBerry 7100 Series devices, you can now configure the Convenience key to open a specific program. If you make a phone call to or receive a phone call from a contact in your SIM card phone book, the name of the contact now appears on the screen. Known issues This section lists known issues for build release 314 for Platform and BlackBerry Applications version Theme SDR73295 When your device is locked, the background image might not appear on the Home screen. Impact: The background image might not appear on the Home screen when the device is locked. User interface SDR55377 In rare cases, if you are using a BlackBerry 7290 Wireless Handheld and you set an image to appear as the standby screen, the standby screen might not appear after the set amount of time has passed. Impact: The standby screen might not appear. Workaround: Reset your device. Browser SDR74704 If you are browsing a web site, you might receive an exception error. Impact: You might receive an exception error while using the browser. Miscellaneous SDR71385 SDR71268 SDR71266 If you try to unlock your device, a Java exception might appear. Impact: A Java exception error might appear when you type your password. The data source for the Mobile Media API (MMAPI) player does not function as expected. Impact: You might receive an exception error when using the MMAPI player. The Mobile Media API (MMAPI) player does not handheld InputStream as required. Impact: If a class reads data from the InputStream, the data might be read in a loop.

6 Release Notes Version of 6 SDR61382 SDR57402 A system administrator might not be able to send a third-party program to your device. Impact: You might not be able to add a third-party program to your device. Workaround: Ask your system administrator to move you from your original software configuration to another configuration and then move you back to the original configuration. This changes the application status from Up to Date to Install Required and allows the application to be pushed successfully. If you use Lotus Notes and you receive an invitation to a recurring meeting request that has already been sent to other participants, and then you receive an update for that recurring meeting, the two meeting requests might appear on your BlackBerry device but only the last request appears in your Lotus Notes inbox. Impact: You might not receive some meeting updates in your desktop program inbox.
