3 Overview The BlackBerry Demonstration Portlets for IBM WebSphere Everyplace Access 4.3 show the capabilities of the integration between IBM WEA and BlackBerry. This document explains how to install and configure the demonstration applications. For an overview of the integrated solution, refer to the BlackBerry Integration with IBM WEA Integration Note. The demonstration application shows how BlackBerry and WEA integration enables a mobile sales force to interact productively with a customer relationship management (CRM) system. The demonstration application consists of the following components:! Online portlets enable mobile salespeople to access a customer relationship management (CRM) system. Salespeople can view and manage their contacts, keep track of sales opportunities, and view the tasks that they need to complete for each sales account.! Offline portlets enable salespeople to download the latest list of contacts and sales opportunities to their handheld. The demo also shows how a server-side push application could enable users schedule an automatic synchronization of data on a daily basis.! The alert channel uses the push notification capabilities of the integrated BlackBerry and WEA solution to notify sales managers when anyone on their sales team makes progress on a sales opportunity. An icon on the handheld Home screen provides a permanent content channel. The icon changes when new information is available to managers. Installing the demo This document assumes that you have installed, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, WEA Server, and BlackBerry components for WEA. Refer to the BlackBerry and WEA 4.3 Integration Note for more information. The administrator must install the following portlets: ContactsPortlet.war, OpportunitiesPortlet.war, and SettingsPortlet.war. Configure the portlets 1. Copy the following files into the HTTP_server_directory\htdocs\ directory: bigwea.png smallwea.png online.png alert.gif alert-new.gif 2. In OpportunitiesPortlet.war, edit the WEB-INF\portlet.xml file to set the following parameters for your environment: Parameter url.icon.alert.new url.icon.alert.old Value HTTP_server_name/alert-new.gif HTTP_server_name/alert.gif 2003 Research In Motion Limited Page 3 of 13

Log in to the WEA Server using the administrator account. 2. From the main drop-down menu, click Portal Administration. The portal administration page appears. 3. On the Portlets tab, click Install Portlets. 4. Click Local install. WEA Portal Administration page Portlets tab 5. Click Browse to locate a portlet.war file. 6. Click Next. 7. Click Install. The portlet is installed. 8. Repeat steps 3 through 7 for the remaining portlets. 9. From the main drop-down list, click Work with Pages. The Work with Pages screen appears. 10. Add the three portlets to the appropriate pages.! Add the contacts, opportunities, and settings portlets to the Welcome page.! 5 For more information on installing and administering portlets, refer to the WEA Info Center at Configuring the demo Create a new user 1. Log in to the WEA Server using an administrator account. 2. From the main drop-down list, click Portal Administration. The portal administration page appears. 3. Click the Users and Groups tab. 4. Click Create new user. The user information page appears. 5. In the fields, type information for the user. 6. Click OK. The user is created. 7. Give the user view permissions for each demonstration portlet:! From the main drop-down list, click Portal Administration. The portal administration page appears.! Click the Security tab.! Edit the Access Control List to set the user s permissions. Refer to the Portal Help for more information.! Click Save. 8. Add the BlackBerry Delivery Channel Portlet and My Message Rules Portlet to a portal page for the user, such as the Configure page. Create a BlackBerry Delivery Channel Note: This procedure is optional if the administrator creates the BlackBerry Delivery Channel and configures message rules using the batch files provided with the BlackBerry components for WEA. Refer to the IBM WEA BlackBerry Enhancement Readme for more information. 1. Log in to the WEA Server using a user account. 2. From the main drop-down list, click WEA Home. The WEA Home page appears. 3. Open the portal page to which the administrator added the BlackBerry Delivery Channel Portlet Research In Motion Limited Page 5 of 13

6 WEA Home page BlackBerry delivery channels 4. In the BlackBerry delivery channels section, click Add Delivery Channel. The BlackBerry delivery channels page appears. BlackBerry delivery channel page 5. In the Delivery Channel Name field, type a unique name for the channel. 6. In the Pin or Address field, type the user s address or handheld personal identification number (PIN). 7. Click OK. The portal page appears Research In Motion Limited Page 6 of 13

7 8. In the My message rules section, add a message rule:! In the Normal message rules section, click All users.! Select the BlackBerry delivery channel that you just added. Normal messages (messages that are not marked as urgent or FYI) are now redirected to the BlackBerry delivery channel for all users. Using the demo Users perform the following tasks from their BlackBerry handheld to set up the demo application. Log in 1. On the BlackBerry handheld, in the BlackBerry Browser, go to the URL for the WEA login page. 2. Click Log in. The login page appears. WEA login page 3. In the User ID, type your user ID. 4. 8 Configure settings 1. On the WEA Home page, click Settings Portlet. The Settings Portlet page appears. 2. Click System Settings. The System Settings page appears. Settings portlet System Settings page 3. Click Set address. The Set address page appears. Settings portlet Set address page 4. In the field, type your address or handheld PIN. 5. Click Save. The System Settings page appears. 6. Click Install Portlets Now. The Install Portlets page appears. 7. Click Yes. The portlets are installed. 8. Close the browser. 9 Use online portlets Note: In the demonstration application, contacts and opportunities are common to all users. When you browse the online portlets, if changes do not appear immediately, refresh the web page to view changes. 1. On the handheld Home screen, click the Online Portlets icon. 2. Log in to WEA. 10 6. In the fields, type contact information. 7. Click Save. The contact is added. Edit a contact 1. In the online portlets page, click Contacts Portlet. The Contacts portlet page appears. 2. On the Contacts page, click the contact that you want to edit. The Contact page appears. Contacts portlet Contact page 3. Click Update Contact. The Add/Update Contact page appears. 4. Edit the contact. 5. Click Save. The modified contact is saved. Note: Updating either the first name or the last name creates a new contact. Add an opportunity 1. In the online portlets page, click Opportunities Portlet. The Opportunities portlet page appears. 2. Click Add Opportunity. The Add/Update Opportunity page appears. 3. In the fields, type opportunity information. 4. Click Save. The opportunity is saved. Edit an opportunity 1. In the online portlets page, click Opportunities Portlet. The Opportunities portlet page appears. 2. Click the opportunity that you want to edit. The Opportunity page appears. 3. Click Update Opportunity. The Add/Update Opportunity page appears. 4. Edit the opportunity. 5. Click Save. The modified opportunity is saved. Note: Updating either the first name or the last name creates a new contact Research In Motion Limited Page 10 of 13

11 Synchronize offline portlets 1. On the WEA Home page, click Settings Portlet. The Settings Portlet page appears. 2. Set an offline synchronization time: a. On the Settings Portlet page, click Application Settings. The Application Settings page appears. Settings portlet Application Settings page b. Click Set offline sync time. The Offline Sync Time page appears. c. From the Time drop-down list, select a time. d. Click Save. The setting is saved. Note: This setting is for demonstration purposes only. It has no effect. 3. Synchronize offline portlets: a. On the Settings Portlet page, click Application Settings. The Application Settings page appears. Settings portlet Application Settings page b. Click Sync offline now. Content from the contacts portlet and the opportunities portlet is downloaded to your Offline Portlets Channel. A message is sent to your Messages list to notify you that the content of the Offline Portlets Channel has been updated. 4. On the handheld Home screen, click the Offline Portlets Channel icon. The offline portlets page appears. Note: The Conversion Servlet downloads all the portlets on the user s Offline page, to the link depth specified in the Offline Browsing Configuration portlet (by default, located on the Configure page) Research In Motion Limited Page 11 of 13

12 Offline portlets page 5. Click Contacts Portlet or Opportunities Portlet to view the list of contacts or opportunities that have been downloaded to your handheld for offline viewing. Trigger an alert 1. On the handheld Home screen, click the Online Portlets icon. 2. Use the Opportunities portlet to edit an existing opportunity. 3. Edit the Sales Stage of an Opportunity field. 4. Click Save. The change in the sales stage triggers an alert to the Alerts Channel. On the handheld Home screen, the Alerts Channel icon changes to indicate that new information is available. (For the demonstration, the alerts channel appears on the same handheld as the user, rather than on the handheld of the user s manager.) Alert Channel icon 5. Click the Alerts Channel icon.
