4 Meter Center Guide Overview This document will describe the procedure to install, configure and use the Automated Meter Reading service for Miracle Service. Prerequisite 1) Miracle Service or later must be installed on the computer. 2) Microsoft.NET Framework 4.0 or later is installed. 3) Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 or later is installed. 4) Server must be synchronized with an NTP Time Source to ensure server times are within 5 minutes of each other. Send Nexent Sample Formats and Details Format: There are many machines and manufacturers and there is no standard format across the industry. While some manufactures are good at maintaining a consistent format across their different lines of equipment other have not. Since this service is based on deciphering the s sent from different machines, we need to get a copy of the ones you are using to ensure we have a profile for that in the automate system. Meter Names: To ensure the meter readings are imported correctly the automation system is set-up to include the meter names used in Miracle Service. Typically these are Black, Color, Scan etc. When the related meter is not clear on the template, it is important to provide the details on the meter relationships. Provide Set-up Information The Meter Center is programmed to collect the meter reading s for a standard e- mail account. This can be an internal account or you can set-up an account with companies such as Google Mail or Hotmail. This account is the account to where your equipment is programmed to send its meter reading s. Depending on where this is set-up different information is required; however, the following is typical of the information we require: POP3 Server Name Server POP3 Port Account Name Account Login Name Account Login Password Is SSL Required? Any other details on the account set-up that is necessary to connect to and collect s must be provided. Miracle Service Meter Center Guide 4

5 Install Server Console Software 1) The Meter Center is part of the MS Server Console and is only to be installed on one computer. This is the computer where the Miracle Service Database is installed. 2) See the MS Server Console Installation and Operator Guide for more details. Using the Meter Center Server Console Once the Server Console is installed and running, it should generally be left running. NOTE: If the MS Server Console Software is closed it will not import the new readings into Miracle Service until the MS Server Console Software is running. It is recommended to leave the MS Server Console Software running on your server. To Re-launch the MS Server Console Software select All Programs->Miracle Service->Server Console as shown below. When the application launches for the first time, it will upload all of the machines in your Miracle Service Equipment Database to the Meter Center to ensure they are available to be activated. Once this process is completed, it will check for new meter readings based on the scheduled time defined in the Setting window. Miracle Service Meter Center Guide 5

6 Updating the Equipment List If you have added new equipment to Miracle Service, you can automatically update the list on the Meter Reading service just by closing and re-launching the MS Server Console. Right Click the Icon in the Task Tray and select Exit. When the application re-loads, it will compare your Miracle Service database to the Meter Center database and update the Equipment Grid as required. Get Meter Readings To check for new meter readings at any time, you can click the Get Meter Readings button to initiate and immediate request for any new meter readings. 7 Using the Meter Center Web Site Activating Equipment 1) Open your Equipment Grid view on the Meter Reading web site to display the list of your equipment. Users can filter the list by typing part of the Serial Number in the box below the Serial Number header. 2) Click Edit on the line that includes the equipment you want to activate. 3) Click the check box under the Active column. 4) Click Update to save this record and the changes you have made. 8 Checking Meter Reading Status Click the Meter-Reading menu option to open the Meter Reading Grid to view the status of your meter readings. This will display the status of all meter readings received by the system. Equipment with multiple meters will display a line for each meter being read.
