2 What does STF mean? Specialist Task Force A team of skilled experts, brought together to perform specific technical work under the direction of an ETSI technical committee. The purpose of Specialist Task Forces is to give ETSI a competitive advantage by accelerating the development of urgently needed standards in the strategic areas where they are required by the market and/or by public policy. 5 TS Agreed objectives -I Global KPIs for energy efficiency shallreflect and encourage the following objectives: reduced energy consumption the total consumption of energy by an operational infrastructure improved task efficiency a measure of the work done for a given amount of energy consumed re-use of energy transfer or conversion of energy (typically in form of heat) produced by the operational infrastructure to do other work use of renewable energy energy produced from dedicated generation systems using resources that are naturally replenished Global KPIs for energy efficiency shall not address design/operation of components or subsystems of broadband deployment networks 5 ETSI All rights reserved
6 Global KPIs and Objective KPIs each Global KPI of Energy Efficiency (KPI EE ) is a combination of up to four objective KPIs Energy Consumption Task Efficiency KPI EC KPI TE KPI REN KPI REUSE Global KPI EE Renewable Energy Energy Reuse EE ( W KPI, W KPI, W KPI W KPI ) KPI = f, EC EC TE TE REUSE REUSE REN REN definition of each objective KPI and the relative priority (weighting W) may differ for each operational infrastructure 6 ETSI All rights reserved

10 Conclusions STF439 is addressing the energy efficiency global KPI definition for Data Centres Mobile access networks Four objectives KPIs have been defined, oriented to reduced energy consumption improved task efficiency re-use of energy use of renewable energy The global KPI structure is a weighed combination of the objective KPIs and it summarizes the behaviour of an operational infrastructure with respect to the energy consumption over a meaningful sliding period of time. 10 ETSI All rights reserved
