15 Subsystem oriented approach: TISPAN NGN IP connectivity subsystems Network Attachment Subsystem (NASS) Resource and Admission Control Subsystem (RACS) Service-oriented subsystems: 3GPP Common IMS Core, supporting multimedia services and adapted to accommodate xdsl-based access, and PSTN/ISDN Simulation & Emulation. (IMS) A SoftSwitch-based PSTN/ISDN Emulation subsystem tailored to allow TDM network replacement, while keeping legacy terminals unchanged. (PES) 15

Main objectives - PSTN Replacement & Multimedia Provides the overall architecture for NGN Defines the various subsystems and how they interwork: 3GPP Rel-7 IMS re-use and its relationship to other TISPAN NGN components Defines PSTN/ISDN Emulation Subsystem (PES) Defines PSTN/ISDN Simulation Services (PSS) Network Attachment Subsystem (NASS) Resource and Admission Control Subsystem (RACS) Rel-1 deliverables at: 16

IPTV Integration of NGN Services and Capabilities using IMS Coordination with 3GPP Common IMS Rel-8 Support of Business Services & Enterprise Network inter-working (in cooperation with Ecma International) Requirements analysis for FMC (with such bodies as FMCA).
