1 Project Management South Africa (PMSA) Minutes of the 16 th Annual General Meeting, held at Eskom Lethaba Auditorium, 1 Eglin Road, Sunninghill on 28 th November 2013:18h00 1 Welcome PMSA members and conference delegates were welcomed to the meeting. Eskom representative explained the evacuation routes and procedures in the event of an emergency 2 Attendance As per attendance register (Appendix 1) 3 Apologies As per apologies register (Appendix 2) 4 Approval of the minutes of the 15 th AGM Held at the Birchwood Hotel in the OR Tambo Conference Centre, Boksburg on 18th September The approval of the previous minutes was proposed by Bruce Webb and seconded by Christo Spammer. 5 President s Report The National President, Lunga Msengana, began his report on the achievements of the five PMSA themes: Theme 1 Practice Achievements: Revise PMSA Code of Ethics for National relevance Comply with SAQA registration criteria. Adapt management system to optimise process. Establish a directory of PM Professionals to provide advise and serve on grading panel in various fields. Develop PM Benchmarks and apply these to the designation criteria. Theme 2 Information - Achievements : Update website On-going Publish Magazines Bi-monthly Host National Conference Bi-annual Publish Articles ad Papers on website On-going Publish PM Books On-going Publish Project Net Xpress monthly. Theme 3 Professional Designations Achievements: Develop PM Career Guidelines/Career Path Completed. Develop PM Career skills framework Completed.

2 Upgrade RETP programme and align to career path framework Completed. Theme 4 Reputation Achievements: Secure & Maintain relationships with Local & Global PM organisations. Host Regional conferences Done & On-going. 6 CEO s Report The CEO s Report was based on PMSA and the National Office in context: 6.1 Trends in the PM and PMSA Landscape Membership Statistics The following were noted: Decrease in Associate Membership Increase in Full and Professional Membership Increase in overall level of professional qualifications Education & Training trends were noted as follows: Supply trends: Increase in providers seeking formal recognition Development of formal programmes in PPPM Demand trends:

3 Formal education in PPPM Training at enterprise level Prevailing certifications still popular, new methodologies gaining interest PMSA RETP Membership numbers are: Silver = 23 Gold = 12 Platinum = Labour Market and Skills Shortage DOL / CHET identification of scarce skills (SIPs) Competitiveness: Personal professional differentiation Formalising the professional landscape SAQA mandate Adoption of professional body approach in Africa Technology & Collaboration Improved tools for member management Increasing peer interaction through new and traditional channels 6.2 PMSA and the National Office Priorities for 2013 / 2014 are: Registration of Professional Designations Framework for a Career Path in PPPM Enhance Corporate Membership value proposition Review Business Plan and Products Optimise deployment of Member Management System Member Administration and Value Book Store Stakeholder Engagement Content and Communication Relationship Building Awards Programme 6.3 The three Project Manager Professional Designations requirements for registration were explained: Project Manager (PM Level 1) Senior Project Manager (PM Level 2) Professional Project Manager (PM Level 3) 7 Financial Report The PMSA audited financial statements as at February 2013, were presented The audited financials were audited by Consultus Auditors
