2 Deployment and Installation Workflow: Ubuntu Create and set up the hosted virtual desktops in the data center. Ensure that a hosted virtual desktop (HVD) is ready for you to install the Cisco VXME Agent. Step 7 Step 8 Set up and configure the thin clients. Install the Cisco Virtualization Experience Media Edition components on the thin clients and the hosted virtual desktop. See Install the Cisco VXME Components Workflow: HP Thin Pro, on page 3. Configure the Network. See also, Port Requirements. Set up Users on the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Workflow. Provide Links to the Documentation, on page 7. Documentation for HP Thin Pro-based thin clients and for HP Thin Pro is available from the HP website. Ensure that the thin clients are ready for you to install the Cisco VXME Client. After you install Cisco VXME Agent and other required software on the HVD, you can clone the HVD. Configure important network settings. Add users and devices on the Cisco Unified Communications Manager. Set up users on the Cisco Unified Communications Manager with Cisco Unified Communications features, such as Cisco Unified Communications Manager IM and Presence and WebEx integration. Provide users with links to the documentation for their Unified Communications clients. 3 Install the Cisco VXME Components Workflow: HP Thin Pro Read Requirements. Review the system requirements to confirm that all required hardware and software meet them. Failure to meet all requirements can result in a nonfunctional deployment. Step 7 Create and set up the hosted virtual desktops in the data center. Set up and configure the thin clients. Documentation for Ubuntu thin clients is available from the individual hardware vendors. Documentation for Ubuntu is available from the Ubuntu website. Install the Cisco Virtualization Experience Media Edition components on the thin clients and the hosted virtual desktop. See Install the Cisco VXME Components Workflow: Ubuntu, on page 4. Configure the Network. See also, Port Requirements. Set up Users on the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Workflow. 4 Install the Cisco VXME Components Workflow: Ubuntu Obtain the Cisco VXME Debian (.deb) package and cisco-vxme11.7.x-pre-reqs.xar file from HP. Visit Have the VXME files on hand and ready to install. If you plan to manually install the HP website, software downloads section for HP VXME on the thin clients, copy the files Thin Pro. to a USB stick. Download the Cisco VXME Agent, on page 6 Have the VXME Agent installation file on hand and ready to install on the hosted virtual desktop. On the thin client, install the VXME files in the Order of installation: following order, either manually from a USB stick, or use HP Device Manager for mass deployments. 1 Install cisco-vxme11.7.x-pre-reqs.xar. For more information about mass deployment, see 2 Install the Cisco VXME.deb package. the documentation for HP Device Manager 4.7, available from HP. On the HVD, uninstall any previously installed Cisco VXME Agent. On the HVD, uninstall any previously installed Cisco Unified Communications clients, such as Cisco Jabber or Cisco UC Integration for Microsoft Lync. On the HVD, install Cisco VXME Agent. Double-click CiscoVXMEAgentSetup.msi and follow the installation wizard steps. Step 7 On the HVD, install Cisco Jabber. Double-click the CiscoJabberSetup.msi and follow the installation wizard steps. Install the Cisco VXME Components Workflow: Ubuntu Important The Cisco Jabber for Windows version must match the Cisco Virtualization Experience Media Edition for HP Thin Pro and Ubuntu version. See Requirements. Before You Begin Install Citrix Receiver or VMware View client. Obtain the Cisco VXME deb package. Have the VXME deb package on hand and ready to install. 5 Set up the Hosted Virtual Desktops Workflow accessible from the thin clients, or copy it to a USB stick. Download the Cisco VXME Agent, on page 6 On the thin client, use the terminal emulator to run the following command: sudo apt-get update, and enter your password at the prompt. On the thin client, install the VXME Client. Enter your password at the authentication prompt. Have the VXME Agent installation file on hand and ready to install on the hosted virtual desktop. Update the list of repositories for the Ubuntu Software Center. After the command finishes reading the package lists, you can close the terminal emulator. When you double-click the Cisco VXME deb package, the Ubuntu Software Center opens. After you click Install, the Ubuntu Software Center locates and installs the dependency libraries, and then installs the VXME Client. Step 7 Step 8 On the HVD, uninstall any previously installed Cisco VXME Agent. On the HVD, uninstall any previously installed Cisco Unified Communications clients, such as Cisco Jabber or Cisco UC Integration for Microsoft Lync. On the HVD, install Cisco VXME Agent. On the HVD, install Cisco Jabber. Double-click CiscoVXMEAgentSetup.msi and follow the installation wizard steps. Double-click CiscoJabberSetup.msi and follow the installation wizard steps. Set up the Hosted Virtual Desktops Workflow Important Multiple registrations to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager are not supported. To help prevent multiple registrations, we recommend that you create only one hosted virtual desktop (HVD) for each user. 6 Download the Cisco VXME Client Add-On Join the HVD to the corporate domain. Set up Citrix or VMware access to the HVDs. Install Cisco VXME Agent on the HVD. Install Cisco Jabber on the HVD. Clone the HVD image. You must have domain administration rights. See the installation guide for your release: / unified-communications/jabber-windows/ products-installation-guides-list.html For best practices for cloning Microsoft Windows HVD images, consult the documentation for your Citrix or VMware product. Download the Cisco VXME Client Add-On Go to the following URL: Select Products > Unified Communications > Unified Communications Applications > Messaging > Virtualization Experience Media Edition > Virtualization Experience Media Edition for HP Thin Pro and Ubuntu. From the list, choose the file for your release. Select Download or Add to cart and follow the prompts. Download the Cisco VXME Agent Install Cisco VXME Agent on the hosted virtual desktops (HVD), before you install Cisco Jabber for Windows.
