4 1. Overview TMap NEXT Test Manager (TMPTM.EN) Summary This module is based on the revised version of TMap, as described in the book TMap Next, for result-driven testing. More and more organizations realize that the quality of IT products is a critical factor in a successful business. A good software development process is essential to the control of risks and delivery of high quality software. Structured testing provides insight into the quality of the information system and the risks present at any given point in the development lifecycle. The Test Management Approach (TMap) is the perfect example of a structured test approach. TMap is a leading standard for testing. Hundreds of organizations around the world are now using TMap. The subjects of this module are: Master test plan, managing the total test process; Acceptance and system tests; Development tests and Supporting processes. Context In TMap NEXT Test Manager the emphasis is on coordination and management tasks, such as creating and managing a (master) test plan, preparing a budget, and conducting a product risk analysis. Achievement of the TMap NEXT Test Manager certificate indicates the capacity to plan, manage and evaluate the test process. This involves explicit use of the IT governance aspects of result, risk, time and cost inherent in the business-driven test management (BDTM) approach. Target group The TMap NEXT Test Manager exam is primarily intended for people who are involved in test management activities on a daily basis: test managers, test coordinators and test consultants/advisors. The module is also of interest to project managers who are working as test managers or for project managers or development managers who are interested in the subject of test management in general. Prerequisites The candidate has prior knowledge at the level of TMap NEXT Test Engineer. Contact hours The minimum number of contact hours for the course is 22. This number includes group assignments, exam preparation and short coffee breaks. The candidate can: describe the activities for creation of a master test plan apply the business-driven test management (BDTM) approach to a master test plan create an estimate for a master test plan set up the defect procedure. 1.2 Managing the total test process The candidate understands the management activities of the total test process The candidate can: apply the activities for managing and controlling a test process. 2. Acceptance and system tests (40%) 2.1 TMap test management phases The candidate can create a test plan. Development tests (10%) 3.1 Aspects of development tests The candidate understands development tests. 8 4. Supporting processes (20%) 4.1 Various supporting processes The candidate understands the supporting processes and can allocate them. The candidate can: explain test policy and the various types of permanent test organizations explain the requirements for the test environments and the use of various types of test environments implement a tool policy for the introduction of test tools specify career paths, functions and training courses. Comment In the TMap NEXT Test Manager module, the emphasis is on the coordination and management tasks, such as creating and managing a (master) test plan and creating an estimate. The TMap NEXT Test Engineer and TMap NEXT Test Manager modules are complementary to one another. TMap NEXT Test Manager does not actually build on TMap NEXT Test Engineer, but in combination they cover almost all aspects of TMap. Test design techniques are only evaluated, for example, in TMap NEXT Test Engineer and business driven test management (BDTM) only in TMap NEXT Test Manager. Although exam specifications and contain all the activities for the creation of a master test plan and acceptance and system tests, exam specifications to and to have been added to guarantee that these aspects are specifically evaluated. 8
