3 AS2214 Certification of Welding Supervisors STRUCTURAL STEEL A candidate for the welding supervisor certificate shall submit to the examining body documentary evidence of having ONE of the following (Please tick which one applies) o Three years approved practical experience in the fabrication engineering industry and successful completion of an approved training course that includes the following units; o Welding Process Technology o Welding Metallurgy o Weld Testing and inspection and o Standards & specification Steel Structures o Three years approved experience in the supervision or inspection of welding o A qualification in either Engineering, metallurgy or welding and at least 3 years approved experience related to the practical application of welding In addition, a candidate shall have verbal and written communication skills and be able to write reports Please provide a copy of a formal report or memo that you have completed. This MUST be verified and witnessed by a supervisor. Include on this report the full name, occupation and signature of witness

4 AS1796 Certification of Welders and Welding Supervisors CERTIFICATE 10 Pressure Equipment A candidate for the welding supervisor certificate (Certificate No. 10) shall submit to the examining body documentary evidence of having ONE of the following (Please tick which one applies) o A Welders certificate complying with the standard AS1796, evidence of successfully passing a course of instruction for welding supervisors and NOT LESS THAN ONE year s experience in the welding of pressure equipment as defined in AS/NZS1200 subsequent to gaining the welders certificate. The course of instruction, predominantly theoretical in scope shall be of at least 120hrs duration. o A welder s certificate complying with the standard AS1796 and at least 2 years experience in the welding of pressure equipment as defined in AS/NZS1200 subsequent to gaining that certificate. o A qualification in either engineering, metallurgy or welding and at least 3 years experience in welding fabrication, one year of which shall have included the construction of pressure equipment as defined in AS/NZS1200 In addition, a candidate shall have verbal and written communication skills and be able to write reports Please provide a copy of a formal report or memo that you have completed. 5 ME INFMATION Applicants must make sure that they have collated all other necessary documents according to your Information document. Applications should be presented in a ring binder file with dividers separating the different sections Two original passport sized photographs shall be submitted with the application, each photograph shall be endorsed on the reverse side This is a photo of (the applicant), and signed and dated by any person on the list of approved people. A curriculum vitae, including employment record identifying welding experience, description of work and responsibilities for a minimum of 3 years. The relevant welding experience shall be verified by the employer and the signatory must state: o Company o Name o Address o Title (occupation) o Contact details (for verification) o Term of employment. A statutory declaration must be submitted where the welding experience can no longer be verified by the employer. A description of other related activities which can assist in the assessment of current technical knowledge. These other related activities shall be verified as required on the curriculum vitae. All photocopied documents shall be stamped and verified as true photocopies of the original by a Commissioner for Affidavits, or by any person on the list of approved people in the Criteria & Information document (see Appendix 1). An enrolment summary or course certificate from a recognised RTO must be attached in your application as specified in standard AS2214 & AS 1796 Pre-examination requirements. Please be aware that your application will not be sent off to the Examining Body for assessment, until you have passed all your exams. If you do not pass your exams the first time around, you will be offered 1 free resit, and all your documentary evidence will be stored on file until you pass your exams.

6 Application Fees Applications must be accompanied by the appropriate NON REFUNDABLE application fees, as well as your documentary evidence for each standard. These fees include the assessment and certificate fee. Fees are based on covering the development, and administration costs incurred by the Examining Body.
