1 State-of-the-Art Network Analysis Tool for all MOST Speed Grades Description The OptoLyzer G2 Tool Chain consists of a basic software component (OptoLyzer Suite), a dedicated hardware unit (OptoLyzer OL3xxx) and a wide variety of powerful extension tools available for the OptoLyzer Suite and OptoLyzer OL3xxx. The OptoLyzer G2 Tool Chain builds a compact state-of-the-art tool and facilitates analysis and monitoring of MOST network and MediaLB data traffic such as system events, control, packet and streaming data. It also offers the ability to track, display and verify essential Digital Transmission Content Protection (DTCP) processes or run script-based tests automatically. Based on a modular concept, several software and hardware tools can be combined to perform specific tasks required for a variety of development states including system design, design verification, system verification and car verification up to production. This brochure provides an overview of the OptoLyzer G2 Tool Chain, its components, and helps to identify the appropriate hardware and software solutions for a variety of applications. 2 Component Parts Overview The OptoLyzer G2 3xxx is a powerful analysis tool suitable for all types of MOST networks. The hardware is selected based on the MOST network's physical configuration. OptoLyzer OL3025o and OL3150o are designed to analyze MOST25 and MOST150 networks running over an optical physical layer (ophy). OptoLyzer OL3050e is used with MOST50 networks running over an electrical physical layer (ephy). The OptoLyzer hardware is connected to a client PC via a 100BASE-TX Ethernet connection. The software part of the OptoLyzer G2 3xxx is OptoLyzer Suite, which offers an easy and intuitive user-interface as well as extensive on-line help. OptoLyzer Suite can operate as a standalone product to provide off-line analysis or in combination with one of the OptoLyzer G2 3xxx hardware products to offer both on and off-line analysis. Data sources can include traffic on the MOST network, recorded files and hardware triggers. Unlike the hardware component, OptoLyzer Suite operates independently from the network s physical layer properties or other characteristics. It can be seen as an upper layer, which can be expanded by a wide range of software extensions to support additional analysis or allow tests to run automatically. Hardware extensions for data logging and other applications can also be added. All software and hardware extensions can be used regardless of the network s configuration.

The specific OptoLyzer OL3xxx is selected based upon the physical layer and MOST network speed. The OptoLyzer OL3xxx is connected to a client PC via a 100BASE-TX Ethernet connection. The USB interface can be used for firmware updates. Digital and analog audio signals routed from an external source to the MOST network/or from the MOST network to an external sink are accessible via S/PDIF IN/OUT and Line IN/OUT connectors respectively. Additionally, four hardware trigger inputs can be used to interface with external hardware events to initiate data recording. 4 OptoLyzer G2 3xxx Software Overview OptoLyzer Components OptoLyzer Components (successor of the well-known OptoLyzer ActiveX) provides a programming interface to assist in creating a complete test environment for end-ofthe-line tests or to develop a counterpart for a Device Under Test (DUT). It provides access to Spy functionality and full Node control of the OptoLyzer G2 3xxx via TCP/ IP, whereas utilization of OptoLyzer Components is targeted to Windows applications. An included sample application provides basic information on what can be programmed, and the OptoLyzer Detector (part of OptoLyzer Components) can be used to locate all OptoLyzer OL3xxx interfaces. OptoLyzer Suite The OptoLyzer Suite is the main software component of the OptoLyzer G2 3xxx and runs over all MOST network speed grades. Its hierarchically-structured, high-level architecture provides quick access to all important analysis and node control tools including: Analysis tools: Viewer, Recorder, Graph and Watch Node control software: Transceiver and MOST Interface Control Software extensions: MOST System Radar, DTCP Viewer, INIC Remote Viewer, MOST Rapid Control and MOST Radar OptoLyzer Suite is the Graphical User Interface (GUI) for the OptoLyzer G2 3xxx which is used to analyze and test a MOST network. OptoLyzer Suite can operate off-line using a dongle; or on-line, connected via an OptoLyzer OL3xxx to a real MOST network. 7 Software Extensions MOST System Radar Features: MOST System Radar is a software solution that passively tracks communication between the nodes of a MOST system using MOST Spy data. The tool simplifies the analysis of message traffic transmitted over the MOST network without generating network communication and interprets the results graphically. 9 Software Extensions MOST RapidControl Features: MOST RapidControl is a prototyping tool that provides a quick and easy way to create realistic control units. These units can be designed in a WYSIWYG-like fashion, tested in run mode and exported as stand-alone Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs). Easy-to-use GUI with pre-defined components and syntax trees Supports realization of GUIs Object model with hand-down properties Integrated message handling and interpretation Bi-directional communication consists of controlling devices and receiving status information Comprehensive script functionality enables tests to be run automatically Tool Requirements: OptoLyzer G2 3xxx MOST Radar Features: MOST Radar depicts all MOST devices integrated in a MOST network on one view. 10 Tools for Programming a Test Environment OptoLyzer Components OptoLyzer G2 3xxx or OptoLyzer G2 3xxx Production, along with OptoLyzer Components (successor of the well-known OptoLyzer ActiveX), help to create a complete environment for end-of-theline testing or DUT counterpart development. The platform provides access to Spy functionality and full Node control of the OptoLyzer G2 3xxx or OptoLyzer G2 3xxx Production using the OptoLyzer Components message-based interface via TCP/IP. OptoLyzer Components also contains TransceiverX, which can be used to run user-defined test software or perform test cases automatically. Utilization of OptoLyzer Components is targeted to Windows applications. The OptoLyzer Components are backward compatible with the OptoLyzer V5 which can be run using an additional COM Port. Socket Protocol API OptoLyzer G2 3xxx or OptoLyzer G2 3xxx Production can also be connected to a client PC or an embedded system directly via TCP/IP. This enables test scenarios to be customized with greater flexibility and higher complexity. The combination of the user s socket protocol application design and Opto- Lyzer G2 3xxx or OptoLyzer G2 3xxx Production provides access to Spy functionality and full Node control of the tool. This test set-up is not reliant upon any additional drivers, since Spy functionality and MOST Node control are incorporated. Additionally, every system qualified to communicate via TCP/IP over Ethernet (e.g., Windows, Linux, Macintosh, MS-DOS, among other embedded solutions) is able to access OptoLyzer G2 3xxx or OptoLyzer G2 3xxx Production.

11 Hardware Extensions Datalogger Extension Datalogger Extension consists of software and hardware components designed to log control and packet data spied on a MOST network and store it on a USB storage device (Memory Stick or HDD). The OptoLyzer Logger RC (Remote Control) software is used to remotely control the logging configuration and operation of the OptoLyzer OL3xxx. With this software, all OptoLyzer OL3xxx of the MOST network can be managed. This refers to the input voltage range required as well as the environmental temperature to be considered. The OptoLyzer PowerPack is intended to operate independently of a power supply for a short time (up to two minutes assumed a typical load of 13 W is connected).
