3 Getting Started 1. Connect it all up On first use your ncube hub needs to be connected to the Internet to activate. You can connect it either via the included LAN cable or using WiFi. LAN connection: simply plug the hub into your existing broadband router. WiFi connection: go to your WiFi settings in your mobile and find the ncube WiFi access point. This will be NC-xxxx format. Once connected, open the app then follow the instructions to enter your home WiFi network details. The ncube hub will then connect to your home WiFi network. Connect your mobile back to your home WiFi network. 2. Activate Once connected, you will be asked to enter the activation code (peel back the rubber base to reveal your unique code) and create your user account (more users can be created later). 3. Add your smart home products That s it. You re now ready to connect your Smart Home products. The first thing you ll see is the Dashboard where you can instantly see your favourite Devices, Cubes & Rooms and can explore further to see your lists of Devices, Cubes and Rooms. From the Dashboard (home screen) click the + button to the right of the Devices section and choose the brand or type of device you want to connect.

4 Z-Wave devices. The hub will start searching for z-wave types of devices as soon as you click Z-Wave. The search lasts for 1 minute; just go back and click again if it times out. The majority of z-wave devices require a triple-click within about a second on their physical button to put them into pairing mode. ncube will recognise them automatically. Click the add command to confirm and they will be listed in the Device list. Nest thermostat. You first need to set up your Nest thermostat with Nest s own app. In ncube you will be asked to enter your Nest username and password. Multiple Nest thermostats can be used and in multiple homes so long as they are managed with the same Nest username/password. LIFX Lamp. You first need to set up your LIFX lamp with LIFX s own app. ncube will find any LIFX lights attached to your home network. Click the add command to confirm and they will be listed in the Device list. HUE Lamp. You first need to set up your Hue lights using the Hue app and the Hue hub. ncube will find any Hue lights attached to your home network Hue hub. Click the add command to confirm and they will be listed in the Device list. WeMo devices. You first need to set up your WeMo devices with WeMo s own app. ncube will find any WeMo devices attached to your home network. Click the add command to confirm and they will be listed in the Device list. Sonos. You first need to set up your sonos players with sonos own app. ncube will find any sonos speakers attached to your home network. Click the add command to confirm and they will be listed in the Device list. Parrot Flower power. You first need to set up your Parrot Flower Power with Parrot s own app. In ncube you will be asked to enter your Parrot username and password and ncube will find any Parrot Bluetooth devices within range of the hub. Click the add command to confirm and they will be listed in the Device list. 4. Set Up your Cubes Cubes is our unique term for making devices do things just the way you want to. Cubes use a natural language method: When something happens, Do this and this and this. For example When it s 6:00pm turn on the outside light and set the music to play at volume 20. Input criteria can be time (including sunset/sunrise related), days of the week, a device did something, someone came home or left or is already in or not in or another Cube happened. And more than one input can be used to cause the Cube to play. Cubes can be played instantly by simply clicking the play icon. According to the triggering input, products can therefore be triggered to do something such as starting/stopping music, setting lights (on/off, brightness, colour), setting temperature. And Cubes can also cause SMS messages to be sent too. Cubes can be used for things like a warm welcome home, for security scenarios, for comfort & convenience or any invention you can think of.

5 5. Set up your Rooms If you have a larger number of products you may find it easier to group products into rooms to make navigation and control easier. 6. Set up your Modes Modes are a way to quickly set your home based on arriving home or leaving home or going on holiday. The mode can be set with just a couple of clicks and can be delayed e.g. setting the Away mode as you re leaving the home. 7. Additional Information Weather: To get the current weather and sunrise/sunset information displayed on the Dashboard, go to the settings and enter your address. Updates: New updates will be alerted automatically in the centre of the Dashboard giving you control of when is best to apply updates. Users: Simply create additional users in the home. Note the first user you already created is the Admin and all other users have restricted capabilities. Remember each user must first log in to ncube from the home network for the extra security step before having remote access. Music folder: If you are integrating the sonos player, you can search and set up specific folders of music to play. Activities: For peace of mind, you can look through all the manual and automated activity that has happened over the past few weeks. Heating schedules: If you add a Nest thermostat, or a Z-Wave thermostat, the heating schedule is within the Entire Home page when you go to the list of Rooms. And if you add things like the Danfoss Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRV), configure them to belong to a room and then the room schedule will automatically appear. If you

6 add more than one TRV to a room they will all be managed by the same room schedule. The hub supports over 70 devices already and we are constantly adding more. Sonos, Belkin Wemo, Philips Hue, LIFX, Nest, Everspring, Fibaro, AEON Labs and a huge range of z-wave devices are supported today. (See appendix for full list). 8. What's in the box? The box contains an ncube Hub, an Ethernet cable, a USB power cable and a power supply. That's everything needed to get set up and started. 9. A box on the bookshelf? The hub looks great either standing on a shelf visible or tucked away inside the box. We like clever things, so we ve designed the packaging with a hole for the cables to go through. The hub will work from within the box so the box can be placed on the bookshelf - neat and tidy.

7 10. Supported devices Smart Home products supported are either Z-Wave, Wifi, Bluetooth or accessed via the fixed LAN connection. Not all Z-Wave devices are made alike and therefore it is not possible to simply state that all Z-Wave devices will work indeed as the ncube user experience is designed for each specific capability (setting heating, turning lights on/off, etc) then new types of devices not tested by ncube may not function correctly.
