26 ONT Ranging Upstream traffic is TDMA (time division multiple access) Were all ONUs equidistant, and were all to have a common clock then each would simply transmit in its assigned timeslot But otherwise the signals will overlap To eliminate overlap guard times left between timeslots each ONU transmits with the proper delay to avoid overlap delay computed during a ranging process
