8 Industry adoption of open line systems Telecom Infrastructure Project API (Rest/RestConf) SDN Controller PLANNER NetConf/YANG Open Optical Packet Transport: This project group will define Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) open packet transport architecture that triggers a new pace of technology innovation and flexibility, and avoids implementation lock-ins. Open DWDM system includes open line system & control, transponder & network management, packet-switch and router technologies.
9 PSE Working Group Scope We believe that openly sharing ideas, specifications, and other intellectual property is the key to maximizing innovation and reducing complexity Goal is to build an end-to-end simulation environment which defines the network models of the optical device transfer functions and their parameters. Each model shall be validated against the proposed network scenario. The environment must be able to process network models from multiple vendors, and also allow users to pick any implementation in an open source framework. The PSE-WG is moving towards open multi-layer optimization.
10 TIP: Enabling Open Line systems 1. Work out the basics: the Gaussian Noise Model 2. Provide Planners with the toolset to plan the network 3. Enable Orchestrators to run the network
