Product Introduction ETOS-X series is an industrial Communication Server for networking between a variety of industrial devices using Fieldbus, Serial, Ethernet network. ETOS-X series offers a variety of communication drivers and enables networking between all of the industrial devices with having a built-in convenient User Defined Communication functions and powerful monitoring / debugging functions. The names and function of pins, and data directions are as shown in their following Table. 14 ETOS-X User's Guide.docx Page Overview ETOS-XPD (Protocol Designer) is a Windows base software that allows editing/changing the system configuration, frame, and processes that are necessary for ETOS-X operation. The main functions of ETOS-XPD are as follows: 1) Configuration of system parameter. 2) Configures protocol frame of the universal serial devices. 3) Edits Ethernet protocol frame for universal Ethernet devices. 4) Edits process for ETOS-X operation. 5) ETOS memory operating function such as monitoring and writing function. 6) Serial/Ethernet frame monitoring. 7) Monitoring and debugging for ETOS-X operation. 8) Firmware upgrade In this chapter, basic operation of ETOS-X PD is described. The content of this chapter is based on ETOS-X PD V1.10, so newer version might contain different items. [Figure1] ETOS-X PD main window

15 ETOS-X User's Guide.docx Page Online Option 2.1 File open/save function Using [File] [Open]/[Save]/[Save As] menus, users can open ETOS program files(*.ets) or save edited program to computers. [Figure 2] File open/save function 2.2 Configuration of Online connection option ETOS User program can be downloaded/uploaded by ETOS-X PD. ETOS-X should be connected to computer by Ethernet or RS232C. Online Connection Setting menu is used for online connection option. Select [Online] [Online Connection Setting] from upper Menu bar. When RS232C is selected, respective port selection option (COM1, 2, 3, 4) is enabled. When TCP/IP is selected, an option that configures IP of ETOS-X is enabled.

17 ETOS-X User's Guide.docx Page Detailed Online Menu Description In this chapter online menu regarding program read/write is described. 3.1 [Online] [Write Parameters] Write Parameters is a function that allows users to download the configured system parameter to ETOS-X. The system parameter is what has been configured in System Configuration window that is accessed when [Edit] [Write Parameter] is selected. [Figure 5]. Write Parameters

18 ETOS-X User`s Guide Page [Online] -> [Write Program] Write Program is a function that allows users to download the created frame and processes to ETOS-X. [Figure 6]. Write Program [Online] -> [Read Parameters] Read Parameters is a function that reads in the system parameter that has been downloaded to ETOS-X by a user, back to ETOS-X PD. [Figure 7]. Read Parameters

19 ETOS-X User`s Guide Page [Online] -> [Read Program] Read Program is a function that reads in the frame and processes that have been downloaded to ETOS-X back to ETOS-X PD. [Figure 8]. Read Program Configuration 3.4 [Online] -> [Read System Information] Read System Information is a function that confirms OS(Operating System) version, MAC ID and other information of ETOS-X. Open Window When download is in process, LEDs on ETOS-X blinks. When download is completed, ETOS X automatically reboots the system. Do not turn off while download is in process. If the power is turned off before ETOS-X reboots itself, the system might not operate normally.

22 ETOS-X User`s Guide Page TCP/IP Configuration ETOS-X series supports dual Ethernet for redundant network configuration. Set TCP/IP Menu is for TCP/IP setting of ETOS-X [Figure 14]. Set TCP/IP [Figure 15]. TCP/IP Window IP Address: Enter IP address that ETOS-X can use Subnet Mask: Configure subnet mask of IP address for ETOS-X. Default Gateway: Configure gateway IP address that ETOS-X belongs. DNS Server: Configures IP address of DNS server DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol): selected when IP address is dynamically allocated to ETOS-X. DHCP server must exist in the network.

23 ETOS-X User`s Guide Page 23 Using TCP/IP Settings menu, ETOS-X can be configured by dual networks. To use in dual network, LAN1 and LAN2 must be configured in different network class. [Figure15] shows the example of incorrectly configured TCP/IP Setting. The IP address of LAN1 is and LAN2 IP address is In this case, two networks are in the same subnet class, and this is not allowed in ETOS-X Dual Network configuration. [Figure 16]. If the password is downloaded to ETOS-X, parameter/program can t be uploaded to unauthorized user, and user program can be protected. [Figure 19]. To use Ethernet monitoring function, ETOS-X must be connected to ETOS-X PD by Ethernet. Select [Online] [Monitor Frame] to monitor serial/ethernet frame. [Figure 23]. For multiple port monitoring function, ETOS-X must be connected to PC via Ethernet connection. [Figure 25]. Monitoring Port Selection window After selecting monitoring port, press start/stop button in bottom of the Monitor Frame window to start, stop the monitoring function. [Figure 26]. shows the multiple monitoring window, and all the tx/rx frames can be monitored in the monitoring window. 29 ETOS-X User`s Guide Page System parameter setting In this chapter, system parameter setting menu is described. Using System Parameter Setting menu serial/ethernet parameter can be edited. Select [Edit -> Edit Parameters] menu to open System Parameter Edit dialog box. ETOS-X supports max. 64 serial communication ports, and each ports can be individually edited for their applications. [Figure28] Serial parameter setting window

Serial parameters such as speed, data-bit, stop-bit, parity bit can easily be set by ETOS-X PD Protocol menu decides which protocol is selected for serial communication. Default value is User Defined and embedded communication drivers such as Modbus, Melsec, GLOFA are supported. Classification Specification. Select [Parameters Setting -> Ethernet Driver -> Add] to add the Ethernet drivers [Figure29] Ethernet Driver setting window

31 ETOS-X User`s Guide Page Ethernet channel setting menu ETOS-X supports max. 32 Ethernet channel to communicate with client/server devices. Each Ethernet channels can be programmed for universal protocol such as GLOFA, ModbusTCP, Melsec. If User_Defined function is selected, ETOS-X runs as user defined protocol. Select [Parameter Setting->Ethernet channel -> Edit] button. Max. 32 Ethernet channel can be added to Ethernet parameter. [Figure 30] Ethernet channel Select Function.

32 ETOS-X User`s Guide Page Memory Dump Function ETOS-X PD provides memory dump functions. Internal user memory can be read by Memory read function. [Figure 31] Memory dump window ETOS-X user memory(max 8Mbyte) can be read by selecting Read / Continue button. Read button is for one time reading function, and Continue button is for consecutive reading function. Address field is for start address area, and Hex, Dec check box is for the type of start address. [Figure 31] shows the memory dump windows, and describes the each functions.

33 ETOS-X User`s Guide Page System Log monitoring function ETOS-X series provide 512Kbytes of system log memory, and system log area can be read by ETOS-X PD using View Log function 1) View Log window pops up when Online/View menu is selected.
