We strongly recommend that you take up one of these to cover your data usage needs when overseas. INTERNATIONAL FREQUENT TRAVELLER DATA PLANS Our International Frequent Traveller Data Plans are available for eligible customers with a 10 digit account number. If you take up a International Frequent Traveller Data Plan on or before 7 May 2013, your plan will be a casual plan and will continue on a month-to-month basis until cancelled. If you take up a data plan on or after 8 May 2013, your plan will be for a minimum term of 6 months. There is a 6 month contract period associated with International Frequent Traveller Data Plans. With International Frequent Traveller Data Plans you pay a monthly access fee and gain a monthly international data allowance to use in selected countries. You may terminate your plan at any time during your plan term. However if you do so, we may charge you an Early Termination Charge (ETC). Your ETC will be calculated according to the following formula: monthly fee x number of months (or part thereof) remaining in your minimum term x 90%. If you take up a plan part-way through a billing month, the charge and included Allowance will be pro-rated according to the number of days that the plan will be active in that month. If you cancel your plan part way through the billing period the charge for that month will be pro-rated according to the number of days that plan was active during that month. INTERNATIONAL CASUAL TRAVELLER DATA PACKS Ideal for infrequent travellers, with Casual Traveller Data Packs you pay a one-off charge and get a set amount of international data allowance to use in eligible countries for 30 days. Your included monthly data allowance in your mobile plan doesn t include use while you re overseas, so you ll be charged separately for this usage. From 14 October 2013, International roaming costs 3 per MB (changed per KB or part thereof) for data used while overseas which is not used as part of an International Frequent Traveller Data Plan or Casual Traveller Data Pack. These charges also apply when accessing sites from overseas that are ordinarily unmetered in Australia. International Frequent Traveller Data Plans and Casual Traveller Data Packs which give you an included data usage provide a cheaper way of using data on your Telstra Mobile Broadband device when you are overseas. 19 WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN? ADSL The service that brings you high-speed digital broadband over the same copper wire networks as your phone service. As ADSL uses a different frequency band to your voice calls, the two can share the one line without interfering. Domain name A unique name that identifies a website, such as yourwebsite.com.au. It s a bit like a street address for the internet, it gives other people an easy way to find and identify your site online. Download/upload Downloads are data that passes from the internet to your gateway including s and their attachments, web pages, streaming media, any files or applications you download, and so on. Uploads are data that you send to the internet from the tiny message sent when you click on a link in your browser, to an and its attached file, and so on. Ethernet With Telstra Business Broadband Ethernet, you connect your business to a dedicated business-grade network which gives you access to outstanding performance and reliability, backed by speed and throughput guarantees. Upgrading to Ethernet also gives you access to equal upload and download speeds, compared to ADSL, which is optimised toward downloads. Mobile Broadband Essentially broadband internet delivered over wireless mobile phone networks, instead of a fixed phone or data network, Mobile Broadband gives you the freedom to run your digital services in or out of the office. PDA Short for Personal Digital Assistant, PDAs were the first generation of multifunctional handheld devices. These days, the term loosely cover just about any smartphone such as BlackBerry, iphone, Palm Treo, HTC Touch and others. Combined with Mobile Broadband access, they provide huge freedom to manage your calendar, s, attachments, internet access and services, and more on the move. Speed How fast data flows between you and the internet. Usually, speeds are given in kilobits per second (kbps) the higher the number, the faster the service. Static IP address A Static IP address gives your gateway a fixed numerical address on the internet. It s a bit like having your own mobile phone number, instead of relying on phone booths. When your gateway always has the same number, other computers can simply address data to that IP address. It means your staff can use the internet (and a Virtual Private Network, for security) to access your servers from outside the office for example. Usage Your internet usage is the total amount of data that you download and upload including web pages, s, attachments, downloads, streaming media, etc. Downloads are simply all the data you receive via the internet, while uploads are all the data you send via the internet. Virtual Private Network (VPN) A VPN is a networking tool that uses encryption to let staff or branch offices access their organisation s main internal network resources securely over the public internet. Wi-Fi This is simply a contraction of wireless fidelity, which is the technology that lets computer devices communicate using radio signals instead of wired connections. 18

20 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW TELSTRA MOBILE BROADBAND Network speeds and coverage 4G speeds: with a 4G capable device customers can experience typical download speeds of 2Mbps-40Mbps, and typical upload speeds of 1Mbps-10Mbps in all capital CBD s (meaning within 5km from the GPO), associated airports and selected regional areas (meaning 3km of the regional town centre). In other coverage areas, customers will automatically switch over to Telstra s fastest available 3G HSPA (High Speed Packet Access technology) enabled network speeds and speeds will be less. 3G speeds: With capable devices customers can experience typical download speeds of 1.1Mbps-20Mbps in all capital CBD s, airports, much of the associated metropolitan areas and many regional and other locations. Outside these areas, the remaining metropolitan areas and many other regional and rural locations support typical download speeds from 550kbps to 8Mbps and elsewhere 550kbps to 3Mbps. Typical customer upload speeds are 300kbps-3Mbps in all capital cities and major regional areas and elsewhere 300kbps-1Mbps. Note: Actual speeds vary due to factors such as location, distance from the base station, local terrain, user numbers, hardware and software configuration, and download source/upload destination. Excess Usage Charges Price is indicated per 1.024kb, however the charge is per 1kB block or part. TELSTRA BUSINESS BROADBAND ADSL, ADSL2+ and Ethernet services are not available in all areas. Excess Usage Charges Excess data usage charges are 1 /MB on Telstra Business Broadband ADSL Bundle plans and 2 /MB on Telstra Business Broadband ADSL Standalone plans. New ADSL plans are capped at 300 per service in a single billing period. Excess data charges on Telstra Business Broadband Ethernet plans are 8 /MB and capped at the applicable excess usage cap amount set out in Our Customer Terms per Telstra Business Broadband Ethernet service in a single billing period. To meet the eligibility criteria for.com.au,.net.au or.org.au domain names, your requested domain name must be an exact match, abbreviation or acronym of your name or trade mark or be closely and substantially connected to you. Additional domain names Additional domain names requested through Business Mail will be required to use a different Mission Control account and additional domain name fees apply. Each.com domain name will automatically renew unless you advise us otherwise. Domain name hosting is provided through Business Mail. Business Mail POP For each mailbox, you can add up to four alias addresses. Each mailbox includes 100MB storage. SMTP facility included with Business Mail POP have certain limitations on the number of s that may be sent which is 25 s every 10 minutes. The total size for every sent including attachment is 10MB. Business Mail POP is not compatible with Office 365 offers. Changing Plans No administration fees will be charged if you change your plan to another plan of the same type. Early termination charges may apply if you change your plan type during the term of your service. Microsoft Office 365 The Microsoft Office 365 Small Business Offer is a bundled offer which consists of Office 365 (available plans are Office 365 Small Business and Office 365 Small Business Premium), an optional domain name, activation assistance and 24/7 technical support.
