2 2 Technical Description L2/L3 traffic Ethernet & IP traffic are what 40GE & 100GE are all about. Powerful applications help fully test and stress every aspect of L2 & L3. Since this runs in parallel with our PCS and physical layer applications if errors do occur the user can quickly identify the cause of the problem. Interfaces and I/O 40/100G test solution in a portable unit Modular Hardware The heart of the power and flexibility of the 100G test solution is the concept of the transponder carrier card. This board allows the critical high speed differential electrical signals from the 40G/100G engine to be interfaced with transponders, ICs, systems or any other 100G element that needs to be developed, tested, manufactured and commissioned. The signals are handed off to the device under test via an adapter. Today it is a CFP interface, but later interfaces like CXP and QSFP as well as versions for transport based on the proposed OIF MSA for 100G DWDM transponders may be added. Electrical access is available by the optional electrical access CFP. This 10x10G CFP module brings out the electrical I/O on SMA cables, see below for technical details. 40G/100G Engine The 40G/100G Engine handles all the Ethernet/IP (L3 and below) requirements and contains as examples a powerful array of BERTs, a MAC/IP core and framers. It also contains low noise synthesizers developed from our market leading jitter solutions to allow precise control of the clocks across the full required range. The engine is ready for 40GE, 100GE and OTU3/OTU4 applications and builds on our leadership in high bit rate transport and datacom test and measurement. 10 10 Accessories CFP - CFP Actives Cable A CFP = CPP active cable based on parallel multimode optics (BN 3061/92.99) User-defined transponder Date rates All data rates in 100G and 40GE 10 * 10G Electrical CFP Interface BN /98 This adapter is designed to meet the needs of developers who want to be able to develop and debug CFP components and optics pre-cfp. The native electrical adapter brings out the CAUI-like interface on a SMA pigtailed cable allowing connectivity to prototype boards and systems. No control or power signals are brought out. This is a passive adapter and therefore the electrical parameters are determined by the CAUI interface that the adapter is connected to. The cable assembly is removable and can be replaced by the user. Detail Electrical signal accessed via high-density co-ax connector mounted on front panel of card. Pigtailed cables with the high-density co-ax connector on one end and SMA male connectors on the other are used to connect to the DUT. MAP-200 with 100GE Mux / Demux module plus VOA, Optical Power Meter and Optical Switches Optical Test Access The MAP-200 Optical Test Platform provides optical signal conditioning, routing, and power measurement and is a critical addition to the ONT 40/100GE solution. With its industry-leading 14 optical test modules, users can characterize the optical layer with the precision and detail required for new advanced formats. Forty and 100 GE are based on multiple parallel optical streams at 10 or 28 G. The MAP-200 provides modules that allow for streams to be split onto individual fibers and tested independently. Only with each signal on an independent fiber allow for measurements of critical parameters such as optical lane power, optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR), receiver sensitivity, or eye mask margin. Also, industry-leading, low loss optical attenuator and optical switch modules ensure that the test fixture does not exceed tight loss budgets, while still allowing manipulation of optical attenuation or noise injection. The MAP-200 and ONT, work together to identify general photonic layer issues or issues only present on one specific lane and offer a detailed view into the quality of the transmission not found viewing the data layer exclusively. Optical Stress Testing using Hydra The IEEE 802.3ba standard defines the 100 G transmission as four 25 G WDM channels each with stressed receiver sensitivity that must be tested with 802.3ba-compliant stressed signals. The JDSU Hydra LR1021 produces just such a required stressed signal on the individual wavelength. The Hydra Compliance Test System can accommodate electrical or optical data returns when used with the ONT 40/100 GE solution. The Hydra system automates module, host card, IC, and system level testing to make SRS compliance fast, easy, and accurate by generating a compliant stressed eye. When used with an appropriate sampling scope, the Hydra and ONT 40/100 GE solution forms a complete test system. Optical Spectrum Analysis OSA-500R New technologies bring new challenges.
