13 INTRODUCTION WHAT ARE TELECOM PLATES: 3.18 Telecom Plates are proprietary and designed to fit into any power solution that includes a telecom plate cutout. Each plate is fully customizable allowing customers to choose the perfect combination of data, USB, or audio visual connectors to best accommodate each application s individual needs. Finish options available are: Black (shown below), Gray, and White Black blank Telecom Plate. Gray Telecom Plate configured with HDMI, VGA, and Mini Stereo components. RJ CONNECTORS: The most popular RJ connectors are the RJ-45 cat6, used for data transfers and computer networking, and the RJ-11 cat3, used for hardwired phone connections. Both the RJ-45 and RJ-11 are available in a punchdown or inline version. Punchdown connectors require punching of the wires to a patch cord which is perfomed in the field by an installer. Inline a.k.a Female to Female connectors allow a standard patch cord to be plugged directly into the back of a jack without any wire preparation.
